Barbara really wrote a self-fulfilling prophecy for Dee by calling her The Worst. I'm willing to bet that Dee supposedly being terrible as a little kid was mostly just her throwing normal toddler tantrums, getting into kid fights with Dennis (like all siblings do), and just generally being too loud, playful, and quirky to conform to Barbara's misogynistic and classist ideas about being a proper woman.

So now Dee has all this rage and self-loathing because she (for no good reason) was led to believe she's fundamentally rotten, and it compels her to be a wrathful, vindictive, misogynistic, narcissistic asshole just like her mother foretold.

People talk like Dennis is obsessed with Dee and clingy while she just finds him annoying, but that misses how intensely mutual their fixation is. Dee is just as emotionally entangled with him; she just hides it better. She treats him like a parent figure the same way he acts like she's his mom: she brings men around specifically to get a reaction, she wants his approval or disapproval, and she lets him micromanage her body and appearance. All of that is about securing his attention. The way he gets jealous when she puts her attention elsewhere is what she does as well she just hides it better. She is every bit as dependent on him as he is on her; the difference is that her obsession is coded as “annoyance” and “bickering,” while his reads as overtly possessive. There is no one more important to her than her brother.

the sunny women squad is kind of unbeatable… they’re all so fascinating and incredible to me. not just because of the scheming mean lesbians in charge (deetress), but we also have the bisexual witch artemis, crafty catgirl maureen, gymsis carmen, mysterious and probably autistic femme fatale gail the snail and the OTHER older scheming mean lesbians (mrs mac and bonnie)!! all heavy fucking hitters, such great stuff… love women and what they do, especially when it’s disgusting and ill-advised ❤️
