In this drama if you change the words related to genius, ghost, (like being special and possessed) for queer meaning terms, you get the memo: queer coded characters.
In Seungtak's case he knew and embraced it from day 1. He has a high hierarchy status in the hospital and society as a rich heir, so that made it difficult for people to pick on him. His family seems a bit worried and ashamed of his ability to see ghosts, but his mom cares about him and wants him to be happy, in the end she supports him. His grandpa might be queer too with his own story with Tess Hyung, so he understands Seungtak. The reason Seungtak is going through all this trouble is because he fell in love for the first time after observing certain something, someone. Love is love and love is brave, so love is making him become a braver version of himself. In a later episode Seungtak tells Youngmin that he shook him up and changed him.
In Youngmin's case he was an intern and resident with no money or status whatsoever that used to date a woman he loved. She left him right when he suddenly became a genius (gay, bi, pan or any other label he identifies with, if he wants to use a label). Of course, this isn't to say people "suddenly become queer". You're born the way that you are, sometimes in the wrong body or with people labelling you before you can find out yourself. Sometimes you have a late self discovery and that's what those words mean. Youngmin was bullied in the hospital because of it when people figured it out. He said "I had to hang on and survive because I had to stay" he cared about his patients too much to give up. He built a name and reputation for himself in the hospital like the competitive warrior that he is (in Seungtak's words) so he wouldn't take crap from anyone, anymore. That's what Seungtak said he saw that made him want to fight by Youngmin's side too.
Youngmin falls in love with Seungtak as well, slowly but surely. There are situations to discuss here and there when it comes to the straight line romance (a cover up, sigh), but yeah. That's the gist of it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
