Mysterious Messenger v3.0 is released!
After 8 months of continuous development, v3.0 is finally out of pre-release. The user coding experience has been greatly streamlined, and there are several new features such as:
Standalone Story Mode sections and Story Calls on the timeline
Bonus profile pictures for characters and the player
Profile picture callbacks to have characters comment on the player's profile picture
Revamped timed menus, with choices displayed while the chat is ongoing
and many, many more. You can find a full list of the updates in the official changelog.

Is this a mod for Mystic Messenger?
No. It is a standalone engine created from scratch in Ren'Py that you can use to make your own Mystic Messenger routes. It contains all the features of Mystic Messenger, such as chatrooms, phone calls, emails, text messages, and real-time gameplay. It also includes several new features specific to this program, like timed menus and story calls, and additional accessibility features and options such as changing your pronouns.
What can I do with Mysterious Messenger?
You can use Mysterious Messenger to create mock chatrooms, calls, etc for fanfics, as presents to friends, or fan routes. It is not for commercial use and is intended primarily as a learning tool as the code is open-source and available for aspiring game developers to modify and learn from.
