Image/Video Descriptions (ID/VDs) are written descriptions of images or videos to make posts accessible to screen readers and others who find them useful.
If someone ID's your post, the single best thing you can do is edit your original post and add it in! Most describers don't care about credit because ultimately, adding a description to the original version of the post means it'll be available to soo many more people!
All sorts of people benefit from IDs, from the visually impaired to even people with poor internet connections.
"Why not use alt text?" Alt text is in fact a great thing! In concept! But as is, it's a fragile tool that can be very inaccessible to many people. Also, it can't be added to other people's posts. Descriptions are always your safest bet!
