Has anyone noticed that Megan thee Stallion is one of the biggest musicians out and there was very little news or social media coverage on her being shot and shot at multiple times...not even a single lil “thoughts and prayers” from any of the tiktokers that use her music daily or the brands still preaching of a Hot Girl Summer..across cultures, everyone let Megan’s identity and likeness impact them and across cultures, no one gave a single fuck about that woman. It’s so saddening. like I hope you all understand that at best, black women’s fame = them being a commodity, not genuine care. Like god imagine if someone like Ariana was shot by an ex/friend/anyone?? We’d hear about it for weeks and yet Megan barely got a drip of attention. And the attention she did get? Jokes. Thousands and thousands of jokes. It’s easier to find tweets joking about the situation or being a doctor checking out her ass as opposed to tweets of any concern, and there’s many tweets dismissing that little roach that shot her. It’s extremely disturbing and exactly what we mean when we say black women are seen as bottom of the barrel on this planet, not given a single fuck about (but taken from until they have nothing left ofc)
if you won’t listen to op, listen to megan herself:
Black Lives Matter
I had the opportunity of going to the Chicago black lives matter protest yesterday and photographing these leaders! Black lives matter isn’t over yet it’s just begun we have to keep fighting against systemic Racism, and we have to abolish and defund the police and prisons. We aren’t done.

y'all: i love wearing baggy clothes that don't show my form and being completely shapeless!
also y'all: get uncomfortable around muslim women wearing an abaya/jilbab/other loose clothes that do the SAME THING
pandemic addition! i’ve seen a lot of people talk about how they like wearing masks because they feel anonymous/not perceived/”like a ninja” and i know a lot of muslim women have discussed the irony behind mandating masks while banning niqabs, but i better not hear anyone talk about being uncomfortable with niqabis when this is over.

25 Black-owned bookstores you can support right now
while i don’t claim to be a “book blogger” by any account (more of a cranky publishing-person blogger most days), i know a lot of people have followed me through my book posts, so i’m taking advantage of that captive audience to boost these bookstores. shop them through their own websites and if you’re local, look into curbside pickup to minimize shipping costs and overhead. okay that’s all thanks bye stay safe.

Children of color are old enough to face racism when they’re born. Old enough to bear the weight of stereotypes & hate before their little eyes can focus. But somehow white kids are supposed to be too delicate & too shielded to even know race exists because somehow that might hurt them. When your definition of innocent child doesn’t include my babies? I know what you’re on & I don’t have any patience for the lies you tell yourself or your children.

I support the goals of Moses and #LetMyPeopleGo but I’m disappointed to see what used to be peaceful protests take such a violent turn :( Politely asking Pharaoh to free the Israelites from slavery is more effective than unleashing plague after plague on Egypt. And now I hear that a lot of Israelites are out destroying their own communities by tagging their houses with some kind of gang sign? that’s painted with animal blood? What does that even accomplish? I agree that a whole people being in bondage and having their babies killed is kind of messed up, but it’s still never okay to destroy people’s property with hail and locusts. They need to show more respect to the people who’ve been systemically slaughtering them. Violence never solved anything :( Two wrongs never make a right :( :(
