It is often said that money does not seem to be a direct source of happiness. However it has been shown as a resource that enables people to engage in meaningful activities, making a salient contribution to happiness. Saving is understood as the activity of accumulating money with an intention to spend it in the future. Literature in Positive Psychology proposes that 40% of our happiness relies on the activities we do (Lyubomirsky, Sheldon and Schkade, 2005; Lyubomirsky, 2008). Given these propositions, it is interesting to consider the well-being effects of saving, since it can connect one’s present state to a meaningful future state. The current Human-Product interaction solutions do not actively explore the subjective well-being of individuals, nor do they actively foster meaningful engagement, which can result in human flourishing. In that sense, the purpose of this project is to explore concepts like ownership and usage (Beggan 1992), level of attachment (Belk 1988; Richins 1994), and goal construction (Fishback and Ferguson 2007), in order to create Human-Product Interaction solutions that can contribute to the meaningfulness of saving money. The project will be developed within the Delft Institute of Positive Design (DIoPD)
Think in days, not years, when saving for your pension
By LadyLand
Change the way you think about savings goals to make them more achievable. studies have shown that you are more likely to save if you don’t think about the future as a matter of years far off in the distance, and tweak your mindset to think of the future as now, breaking down your savings deadlines into a number of days, not years. For instance, 15 years becomes 5,475 days.

After some time off, I wanted to start sharing again some stuff that I have found. Coinc is an Spanish bank service for saving money, it is a quite interesting, first you have to create a profile, then you define an intention, and the amount to save, and finally you start transferring money to get to that goal. You can also ask for friends and family collaboration, or even you can start a group saving. And it is free. Check it out
There are many book about personal finances, but no one like this one (only in spanish so far). The Little Capitalist Pork, which would be the translation of the name, explains in a very illustrative and easy to read language the must for having a healthy and wealthy financial life,
Three weeks ago, I started as part-time tutor at la Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia. I am giving a course con Co-Creation and with my students we will explore 4 topics regarding the money as a technology. The idea is that the students would learn how to conduct generative sessions with users, analyse the data, and come up with cool concepts regarding this topics. I am thrilled to see what comes from this course.
The topics my students picked were: Fiat Money, Banks, Barter and Crowdfunding.
MEMO Bank is a nice combination of a piggy bank and a stationary product. Every time you save money, you can peel one of the pieces of paper and write something down. I would use it to track my savings somehow!
When you have a pile of bills that you have no idea how you are going to pay, you cannot focus on those bills, because you will continue to attract more bills. You have to find a way that works for you to focus on prosperity, despite the bills around you. You have to find a way of feeling good, so you can bring your good to you.
For those interested on how to deal with money in the most fruitful way, The School of Life brings us a set of lectures and workshops with John Lancaster "Money Talks". Or you can also check his book "How to speak money"
