This is every record I have as of 1/19/26 since I first uploaded this exact blog post I have added a good amount of records and hope to slow down but I’m associated

But this is my current collage of albums, which is in alphabetical order which is the order I’m listening in!! (However there is a complication with the word “THE”, in that I alphabetically do “The ____” (example being: The Beach Boys, Then The Beatles then The Crusaders, Then- etc, etc)

Boy have I been on the FRITZ with this place hello

I kinda just forgot to update this place as I keep getting more and more records and my backlog keeps growing and last night I finally did a great round of records so here’s a lightning round post!

Knight Time is a groovy record I had found just yesterday and it’s full of upbeat and soulful ballads and grooves that were really nice to listen to, nothing too memorable but it was all good stuff

Sunshine Superman is a record I found in the $4 bin of docs and also the first Donovan record I’ve heard, it’s very folk-like and overall a pleasant record to be honest, I found it scratched up heavily to a point i thought it would skip horribly on side one, but at worst it just has loud crackle. It also came in a SGT PEPPERS inner sleeve

The Pleasure Principle is a very synth heavy new wave album that I thought was pretty good, nothing really great except a few standout tracks but a good listen nonetheless, also found at the $4 bin of docs records

Diana Ross’ self titled is an exceptional Motown record that is BOOKING with its orchestra and soulful lyrics while also retaining that classic Motown sound beat a lot of their records had at the time. I honestly think 1970 was like an insane year for the record label with how much great stuff they were releasing that year (signed sealed delivered, ABC, the magnificent 7, Still Waters Run Deep, Diana Ross). Yet another $4 bin record docs really had a wonderful selection this time around

Another $4 bin and its Kool and the gang at what I can only describe at their usual, it’s groovy and packed full of sound with wonderful trumpet work and synth work on some tracks, it’s a very fun album even if some of it feels like they’re trying to recreate the magic of “open sesame” , fantastic album all things considered

When I started this I promised myself not to touch a specific band or their solo works, but a friend online persuaded me to spin this one, not like I was gonna get to ANY The Beatles or Solo acts anytime soon

#54- Wings Over America - Paul McCartney and Wings

I have never listened to this one yet actually, I never gave any live Paul album a shot, despite being a massive fan of the guy and his work. What’s presented here is not one record, not two, but three records with probably one of the most stacked track listings ever.

Like this is nearly all of the bands greatest hits rolls into one massive live album. Some wings, some beatles tracks where Paul was on the lead, it’s genuinely a stellar tracklist of songs and I can see why I was told this was “one of the top ten live albums ever”, the songs sound identical to their studio counterparts, the crowd is excited, I have a really good feeling about this one :D

#54- Innervisions- Stevie Wonder

I wanted to wait and do all 5 at once but I don’t think I got the patience for that

Innervisions is one of 5 “classic albums” by Stevie Wonder, and this one ranks mightily high in his discography. Released at around the height of Stevie Wonders career, I’d say this album is perfect encapsulation of what made this run work. The first track Too High is a bouncy bop and a hell of an introduction, throwing you right into the scene. Visions is very acoustic and soulful and just a lovely song to listen and sit down to, a plea for a true paradise where one does not exist on an earth like this. Juxtaposing such visions is living in the city, a song about the harsh reality of living in racist America and the system so cruelly set up against black americans and other people of color, having to live paycheck to paycheck, unjustly being arrested and living a life in prison.. it’s a powerful song. Golden Lady closes the first side with a beautiful and catchy melody, I adore golden lady a lot it’s probably my favorite song on this record. Higher Ground is an upbeat funk about how despite the world and your sun, you should keep trying to aspire for heaven. Jesus children of America is another funky track where it tells about Jesus asking for children to tell their stories of their lives for judgement.. while also being a track about inner peace and finding it. All love is fear is a very mellow and soulful melody that could rival Marvin Gaye, with its beautiful piano keys and ballad vocals about heartbreak and having to be the one to leave…and regretting that choice. Don’t you worry about a thing is a fancy upbeat track that is fun especially with the shakes and use of bongos on the backing. He’s a misstra know it all is a very solid finale track with another catchy upbeat tune, and everything comes together for tale of a cheap con man, a man who hides his mile wide lies behind his smiles, seemingly living the easy life but his greed and shadiness tell otherwise.

Innervisions is a an absolutely lovely album, and easily one of the best albums of all time, and best soul and rnb records out there, and to only think.

This is only the..3rd best Stevie wonder album in my opinion. I might have said signed sealed delivered was that spot beforehand but I do not remember…but this album easily overtakes that spot with its sheer quality and excellence. Signed Sealed Delivered is stellar but this is just perfection.

I’m gonna be cheating with this one because I bought it thinking it had the record but

This is not Grover Travolta, so this record is actually being streamed. I HAD to listen to this.

(And yes I tore the gatefold out from it to display Grover travolta)

#53- Sesame Street Fever - Sesame Street (Various Artists)

Sesame Street Fever is a children’s disco album riding high on the craze of disco at its height, and to help they got ONE of the beegees to sing along, Robin Gibb. The result is a childhood I’m pretty sure I would have done better with, these characters have such funny voices and it makes listening to this rather interesting because beneath the muppets talking and singing in their voices, are really solid disco tracks, to a point I’m surprised at how nice this album is. I believe these are also “disco” renditions of various songs popular within the show, like rubber duckie and C is for cookie but with the grooves of Saturday night fever and what made that album so perfect.

“Trash” is genuinely one of the best songs I have heard. This is a solo Robin Gibb track and while the lyrics are not as heavy to anything else in his solo career, it’s still a very pleasant and lovely song to listen to. Hell I’d argue it’s relatable if you look at it more so through the lens of thrifting. Appreciating the trash, the previously unmended and touched, things with raggy ends, and old games. It’s describing stuff you’d either find on the ground in a dump, or in my take: unmended records and turntables, cups and toys, old board games with missing pieces or just collecting dust in that antique store or goodwill.

Hell the record cover for this album was breaking apart and had the wrong album, that encapsulates EVERYTHING about this track that I have fallen in love with😭

It’s a short listen but this is probably one of the most interesting listens I have had in a hot minute.

I also find it funny that Saturday Night Fever is mentioned / parodied by Sesame Street which I could not imagine even being near something this childish after seeing the movie.

That movie however is better enjoyed as an album.

6/10 movie

10/10 soundtrack/ album

There’s a mystical aura when it comes to certain records, their covers, the music in them

This one is powerful.

#52- Let’s Get It On - Marvin Gaye

Let’s Get It On is an album that tells you it’s message from the very starting notes: find pleasure within sex. It’s a very, and I mean very sexual album. Everything is slow and mellow, and yet so deeply rich to make you feel a sense of romantic love within the notes, and lyrics. The harmonies, the background vocals surrounding you. Songs like if I should die tonight, and Distant lover also try to appeal to your heartstrings with their beautiful lyrics and melodies, and the background harmonies in all of these songs absolutely sell each and every one of them.

Let’s get it on is an absolutely stellar record that is just as good as the studio record that comes before it, while what’s going on is a voice about the world, and the disarray that you could argue it’s still in. Let’s Get it On is a voice comforting you to explore yourself, and the pleasures that come with sex and love. The liner notes of the gatefold even put that message very, and I mean VERY bluntly.

I adore this album it’s genuinely such a wonderful listening experience, and nothing short of some of TAMLA-MOTOWNS very best to do it.

#51- Katy Lied - Steely Dan

So back in the summer of 2025 I listened to like almost steely dan album after falling in love with a certain album of theirs and i remember playing this one on vinyl first because i had bought it in a lot of 3 steely dan albums, Aja, Countdown to Ecstasy, and Katy Lied , and I remember not liking this one comparatively to the others but upon this re-listen.

Katy Lies has shot up to a good like…5th best in my opinion, which may not seem like much but for steely Dan that’s still really high quality. I like it more than pretzel logic, it’s very jazzy and fucking CATCHY. Black Friday, bad sneakers, doctor wu, your gold teeth 2.. it’s all very memorable stuff and i see myself replaying these tracks a good bit. I like this one a whole lot.

I have a lot to say about steely dan, it’s one of those “favorite” bands/groups of mine.. ESPECIALLY Aja. (It’s my favorite album of all time…)

#50- Saturday Night Fever- Various Artists

Saturday Night Fever is probably one of the best damn disco records and soundtracks I’ve ever listened to. The album is stacked with groovy artists and bands and each one has a heavy hitter at that. The Beegees have the most songs with about 6 tracks, staying alive is staying alive what do you WANT ME TO SAY?? How deep is your love is deliciously catchy, night fever is sweet, more than a woman is even sweeter and both are groovy to high hell, this album also has you should be dancing which is a stellar song from the beegees. There’s also another version of more than a woman by Tavares and I feel like it’s better than the beegees version. Kool and the gang have a track, there’s that song that Peter dances on roller skates to. The entire album is just filled with groove after groove of disco bliss I love it a lot. The final side is also filled with danceable instrumental tracks, with a grand finale lengthy dance tune titled disco inferno.

No wonder this album became the success it did…it’s again stacked with some of the best stuff around..

I found this album at docs records in the discount bin section which is awesome because I’ve actually seen this one go for 14 at the lonestar antique..

Off the wall is probably one of the best dance/pop/disco albums of all time it’s such a beautifully fun album to listen to, it’s catchy, it’s fun and sweet, and it has a funky sound that I can only describe as groovy…Don’t stop till you get enough tells you everything in those first few bass lines at the beginning. You’re in for a good time and it’s gonna be GROOVY. It’s an excellent introduction to the album and it tells you the albums personality, style, and tone in just one track. It’s beyond just dance, Rock with you is just as of a groove with its catchy as hell lyrics, Working day and night is a very fast paced dance tune that feels straight out of sonic cd, its energetic as all hell. Get on the floor echoes of the disco sensations known as the beegees’ and You should be dancing, I find a great comparison with both th tone, beats and even themes of dancing, encouraging you the listener to dance. This outdoes it five fold and it’s beautiful. (I just listened to that I may have second thoughts but my point is) they’ve both do a fantastic job job and suckering you into dancing or grooving along.

Girlfriend is a very sweet and poppy tune that very bubbly to listen to. This one was written by Paul McCartney and if definitely feels like something he would sing.. I wonder if he ever sung it on tape

She’s out of my life is a soul ballad about heartbreak and encapsulates the dreadful feeling with its beautiful melody and somber tone. It’s a beautiful track, with a groove that could move tears

I can’t help it is honesty one of my most favorite Michael Jackson songs. It’s a dreamy melody that feels like a spiritual successor to Stevie Wonder’s Creepin.. it was originally meant for Songs in the Key of life and the song is written so damn beautifully. It feels so damn much like a distant dream and it’s very mystical in its sound.

It’s the falling in love is a very synthful upbeat jam it honestly feels like what a cloud looks like, it’s a very fun pop tune that’s just very sweet sounding. If that makes sense. Also a little dreamy to listen to..

Burn the disco feels like a kool and the gang track at their absolute best, with the funky bass line and horn selection… even with how it has layered vocals for harmonies and also several verses “everybody get down tonight” , “keep the boogie all night” sounding like kool and the gang vocals.. I swear..

10/10 album this record is awesome I was talking about this in a chat and realized it’s better off here

#49- Off the Wall - Michael Jackson

This album felt very damn alive, it sounded beautiful. The baseline was powerful and earthy, I could feel its vibrations. It sounded perfect.. like it was played live before me.

It also has gatefold focused art which is very awesome because it’s fun to look at and they feel cinematic when you hold them up and admire them, especially with how big the covers are when folded into one and how it as a cinematic aspect t ratio..

I found this album for $20 at Walmart…

I felt it was acceptable at that point.

#47- Shut Down Vol 2 - Beach Boys

This is an early beach boys record with some iconic hits, notably fun fun fun and don’t worry baby, it’s a very fun album to listen to. I enjoy warmth of the sun the most and there’s also a skit track featuring commentary and various snippets of beach boys songs played throughout. Which I really like to see in records, Todd Rundgren has a great skit on Something/Anything in which he details various audio processings/ things to look for in records before cutting to “breathless”.

I found this record at The Freak Music and Records which is an awesome record store in Bedford Texas, and this is also from my latest haul in which I had found a 10 dollar pioneer 510…

The record was all visually scratched to hell on the B SIDE…but plays perfectly fine

This is a special one

#46- Chris Collin’s and Company

Chris Collin’s and company is a private Jazz-Vocal record released around 1983, and the songs have soft melodies, and harmonious vocals, something straight out of the 60s even.. and yet it’s just a very simple jazz vocal record, one I can appreciate a lot for its sheer simple sound…

It’s a lovely album and this is also likely my most obscure… because it was once lost media until I was sent a copy digitally and uploaded it online, this album had only 4 tracks fully available online from a guy named funkybeatdown on YouTube, who I asked for a full copy of the album from after looking for it online and finding only those 4 songs… after which I had uploaded onto archive.org and YouTube.

My eBay search for the album however was still saved a year later when I got a notification for a listing of a copy, and since I had a job now , I went ahead and bought it, so now I have a copy

#45- Stoned Soul Picnic - The 5th dimension

This is a very comfortable sounding album as in, if gives off the vibes of wrapping yourself in a blanket, with soft poppy melodies, and very harmonious vocals, Stoned Soul Picnic makes for a very NICE listen.. The title track is beautiful, California soul is wonderful, the eleventh song is very catchy, and the rest are very enjoyable selections to listen to..

I found this record at Chiefs Records in the stockyards in Fort Worth Texas, I was already on the hunt for the record beforehand too..

#44 - Chain Reaction - The Crusaders

What more needs to be said, it’s more of that delicious Jazz Fusion! And it sounds so damn lively.

It’s smooth and buttery and tha saxophone does wonders.

I like The Crusaders a whole lot, they just sound phenomenal..

I found this album at Lonestar antique mall! And it’s notably my only MSFL record! Which may be in part as to why this album just sounds so damn phenomenal…

#43 - Those Southern Knights - The Crusaders

This is a jazz fusion record and honestly one of the damn BEST too. The sax work and Bass work blend together beautifully to create som real funky shit here. I love every second of this album and it’s genuinely one of my favorites. Keep that same old feeling is beautiful and the words become so repetitive that they’re like instruments, the first track is really energetic and pops vividly, as does the rest of the album. 10/10 stuff here
