hey guys, im gonna keep this part short, sweet and to the point...im taylor. this is savvy. there’s some more info about her below the cut. im excited to get to writing with all of you, so lets plot!
Savannah Amari was born and raised in Boston , Massachusetts where she, for the most part, had a fairly normal childhood. Both of her parents worked high paying jobs, her father, a hedge fund manager and her mother a publisher, to provide for Savannah and her younger sister, Allyson. Because of their demanding jobs, Savvy’s parents spent a majority of their time at work, but the girls hadn’t minded too much. They hadn’t really known anything else. For most of their childhood, the sisters had been close.
As soon as she was old enough, Savvy’s parents enrolled their little princess in ballet class and there was no looking back from there. She had a natural talent that only progressed as she got older. People were blown away by the skill the blonde possessed and it wasn’t long before she was being groomed to start dancing with the Boston Ballet.
Life had been grand until she was around 10. That’s when things started to fall apart. The arguing between her parents increased not only in volume, but also in intensity. Her father argued that her mother worked too much and she in turn argued that he drank too much. The two decided on the only plausible option…divorce. As if that wasn’t bad enough, about a year later, Savvy received the shock of her life. Her father had passed away.
From then on, in between school and grueling studio time, Savannah basically raised her younger sister. Although the sisters were once close, a rift of resentment formed between them as the years went on. The two hardly speak anymore.
As to be expected from most ballerinas, Savvy threw herself into her dance career. Thankfully, her best friend Aisha was always around to make sure that she focused on things other than work, and that literally helped to keep the girl sane. She had always been there through thick and thin. The two had become attached at the hip and remained that way even after Savvy was recruited to dance with the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago. It was when Aisha’s brother, Zahir, returned to Chicago when he finished medical school that Savvy’s focus would start to shift again. He’d come back looking a hell of a lot different than the scrawny kid she remembered playing hide and seek with. Cue heart-eyed emoji.
After working her way up through the ranks at Joffrey, Savvy was then recruited by the New York Ballet to be their newest principle dancer. With her dream job in sight and the love of her life by her side, it was time to head to the Big Apple.
Things in New York were every bit the stereotype that one would imagine when moving into the city. The constant hustle and bustle took it’s toll and the pair decided to relocate to Santa Cruz, South California where they currently reside. While Savvy loved every moment of being a professional ballerina, it weighed heavily on her stress level and not to mention her body. Now enjoying the change of pace, she’s opened up her own dance studio.
she steps into the dark, empty, and quiet room
on her first day it was a place of doom
she turns on the lights the room is so bright
it turns into her haven, her safe place....her home
a tiny dance studio in the suburbs but to her its rome
she breathes a sigh of relief as all her pain goes away
even the ones she thought were here to stay
even the ones she didnt know she had
now nothing could make her mad
she put on her shoes and took the first step
it felt as if she was on a cloud...... big fluffy and round.
she did a turn a leap and back down.
her heaven was unfolding around her as she danced.
and time took her mind and carried where she couldnt find
she danced and smiled and felt relief
dancing was her joy her peace her relief
and when she danced nothing bad could touch her
she often thought what if everyone could find a little peace of heaven like her
dance was her joy, her peace, her relief.....her tiny peace of heaven
..........AND SO SHE WOULD DANCE
