“You’d probably be able to help some people around here with their dreams. Though, it would never be easy work, so I probably wouldn’t, at least not now. With the uh, recent events before the carnival, a lot of people have been having nightmares and stuff.” She let out a sigh at the thought. Even at her age, she still had occasional nightmares, but hers were still mostly from being at Sentinel. Being there again. “You’re welcome, and I definitely will.” She laughed softly, nodding. “I guess you could always do that.” Farrah was at the point she was having to keep herself from yawning. Having been thrown into a conversation was keeping her awake, but that didn’t mean she was any less tired. Damn being a founder was a lot of work. “We’ll definitely try and have another one. Maybe we’ll try and do something for everyone once a month or something.”

“I didn’t think about that, but that is true. Nevaeh did fill me in a little bit about that. It might not be pleasant, but I’d still be willing to help them. I guess the hardest part is that it is sort of a breach of trust, unless someone gives you permission to do it. Or unless they’re evil,” she joked lightly. “I would like to use it for good though.’ Sydney smiled softly as she noticed Farrah yawning; she had to be tired after all the work she’d put in for the event. "That could be fun, even if it’s something smaller scale. A dance could be a cool idea, maybe,” she suggested with a gentle smile. “Make sure you get some rest – you’ve worked hard today.” She felt bad for keeping her up, but it had been a long one, for both of them, really.

"Well, of course. You should probably ask their permission first, but the ones needing the most help would probably be the kids, and even the adults may not have a problem with you helping." Farrah on the other hand wasn't sure she'd want anyone seeing her dreams, because if they did they'd be able to figure out exactly what she had been hiding, and she may never be trusted again. The kids needed help, but she didn't want Sydney putting all of her energy into helping them, there were other ways to get rid of nightmares. "Glad to hear that, I'd have to kick you out if you had any other intentions." She nodded, a small smile on her lips. "A dance could be interesting. It could still be held here even." Her smile faded, but only for a moment before it returned again. "Yeah, I probably should get some rest here soon. Who knew shutting down a carnival was so much work."

“Sounds great, I should be hungry again by then.” She smiled at him a bit before rolling her eyes again. Even if the dot of chocolate had been small, it was obvious that it could be seen up close at least somewhat since he could see it from across the table and a bunch of people would be that close to her. She wouldn’t have gotten mad later or anything, but she would have at least wondered why he kept it a secret after knowing it was there. “We are royalty, I had just kind of already forgotten about that.” She then raised her eyebrows at him. He thought higher than that? Yeah, not something she really believed, but she wasn’t going to argue. “Good to know. I’ll keep that in mind.”

“Me too. Then again, I pretty much am all the time.” It was easy for Owen to pack in a lot of food – heavy, rich desserts like this were the exception. He wasn’t going to let her walk around with chocolate on his face; hell, he probably had some on his too. Hopefully with his honesty, Farrah would tell him if so. “I know you are, but I didn’t realize I was as well. Not that I’m rejecting the idea or anything,” Owen smiled, his mood starting to lift again. He could tell she didn’t quite believe him, so his head shook lightly. “You should. I’m being honest. I actually think very highly of you.” He always had; it was the reason seeing her work for Sentinel was difficult. That, and the betrayal of course. “So, up for those games now?”

"I'll have to make sure to remember that." Not that she was the greatest cook, but sometimes she just felt like cooking and she'd go in and make some food, but she almost always made a little more than she could eat and she'd feel bad if she wasted it. She crumpled up the napkin and tossed it into a nearby trashcan once she was done before looking at him again. She grinned a bit at his words. "Maybe not as Royal as me, but you're up there." She shrugged before standing up. "I'm the queen of these games after all." Her eyes stayed on him though, her teeth biting down on her lip, not enough to be very visible though. She didn't say anything else on it though, just nodding. "Yeah, I'm ready to kick your butt."

“Yeah, but even getting into their minds once or for a short period of time can be extremely useful.” It could probably even be helpful around the compound at times, with some of the younger kids who had nightmares. As great as that sounded though, it’d probably strain her of her energy, kind of like the carnival did to Farrah. Even shutting down the rides had a been a crap ton of work. “I don’t necessarily see that as true. If you tried hard enough, you could probably help save the world.” She gave her a reassuring smile. Even if the little matchmaking ordeal had been a little much earlier, she still saw this girl to obviously be good. She wasn’t lying either while she was talking up the power, it really did seem cool. “I try my hardest to keep it up, thankfully I haven’t really gotten close to getting caught in a few years.” She then pressed her lips together for a moment before shrugging. “I’m not really sure. I think we’ll try and do more things like that, but it really isn’t that easy.”

“I suppose so, especially with some people. If I can use it to do that, I would love to.” Sometimes it did wear her down a little with some much energy being released, but Sydney didn’t mind. She wanted to help if she could. “Thank you,” she smiled back softly, almost feeling guilty about pushing her toward Owen, but there was so much potential there. “Good, keep up that streak, yeah? I guess I could always try and slip into the dreams and convince them otherwise if not.” Sydney understood the hesitance of more carnivals. It seemed like a ton of work, and that was coming from her as a newbie that didn’t even lend a hand. She couldn’t imagine how the founders felt about it. “Oh I’m sure – it doesn’t look or sound like it, I was just curious. Thank you for doing it at all.”

“If I’m being honest, I probably couldn’t eat another bite of this thing for a week. So maybe just a regular funnel cake later?” She hadn’t even felt the chocolate on her nose nor did she remember getting the sweet close enough for it to do so, but even then, her face got a little red knowing it was there. She narrowed her eyes at him as he tried to make an excuse not to get up. She knew he’d probably have been just messing with her, but it was still putting more time onto people possibly seeing her with it. That and she felt awkward for being such a mess now. She let out a bit of an annoyed sigh as he finally stood to go get them. Taking one from him when he got back, she wiped the syrup off. “Thank you. Carnival queen? I didn’t think you thought so highly of me.”

“Neither could I. A regular one sounds great though, we can grab it before everything closes up.” It was seriously the tiniest dot of chocolate on her nose, but Owen couldn’t help but point it out. Besides, if she found it later, Farrah would be pissed that he hadn’t. He could tell she was annoyed, but he was in a bit of a mood, so he smirked softly before retrieving napkins. “You’re welcome,” he passed one over to her, genuinely laughing again. “It was just a tiny speck. And well, I thought we established we’re royalty? Besides, you did get this thing up and running. I think the title suits you quite honestly.” Owen shrugged, biting his lip a little as he tried to dodge a rare bout of bashfulness. “I probably think higher of you than you realize.”

“Well, yeah, but that’s just the luck of the draw really. There are powers that are for sure more usefull than mine as well.” She shrugged a bit, letting out a sigh. Her power was only really useful when there was technology around. If there wasn’t and she was in danger, she’d be screwed for sure. “Dream manipulation? What do you mean it isn’t cool? That sounds amazing.” It really did sound cool, and honestly she thought it could be pretty useful in some situations. No power was useful in every situation. “Yeah, sometimes it is easy to forget that I could be being tracked, although even to this day I have yet to be caught.” She mused, a grin on her lips. “Glad to hear. Though I do feel kind of bad that the rides stopped a couple times. I think the place was using too much power.”

“I guess so. I don’t know, yours sounds pretty useful. Mine can just influence someone’s dream. That’s not very helpful unless you can get into the mind of a bad guy or something.” Farrah made Sydney smile when she pointed out that her power was cool. She still wasn’t so sure of that, but it did at least make her feel a little better about it. “Well, thank you. I just – you know. You can’t really save the world with that sort of thing.” She sensed the pride from Farrah about her work, and was definitely impressed. She hoped that she’d never be caught for trying to hack into Sentinel especially. “Good. Definitely keep your stealth mode. And thank you. Don’t feel bad about that at all! You’re probably right. Honestly, I think everyone was just happy to be there. You all did a great job with it. Do you think there might be more in the future?”

Farrah had barely made it a few bites in and she was already doubting if she could eat anymore. He only made it worse when he moved the plate towards her. This was definitely not one of her brightest ideas, especially since they planned on riding some rides after this. Or even the fact that she was gonna be going hard at games. “I actually think I might save this for later. I’m already full.” That and it was way too sweet for her, probably better to just throw the thing away. Or give it to someone else who’d be able to eat it. Her grin returned as he went along with the whole your highness thing. Then she raised her eyebrows. “What seriously?” She went to grab a napkin before seeing that they hadn’t grabbed any. Or that they had all been used already. “Can you go grab some napkins? Please?”

“We can always grab another before it’s over if you want? Not sure how easy it would be to save, though I’m game for trying.” Farrah looked pretty adorable with a dollop of chocolate on her nose, but he was feeling too vulnerable at the moment to mention that. At least though they were still being playful in conversation – that was something anyway. Owen chuckled when Farrah realized their napkins had been depleted; and amused smirk took him over. “Hmm, I dunno. My feet hurt. Not sure I can get up right now…” he teased, wagging his eyebrows at her. After another moment of messing with her, Owen raised from his seat, only to return with a pile full shortly after. “There, my carnival queen.”

What is your power?” All those silly powers she had heard about as a kid had just seemed to he myths, she hadn’t ran into any of them yet and she doubted this girl had any of them. “Although that is a good idea, if I’m in their systems for too long, they might start to catch on and that gives them time to hunt down the source. I’ve tried before.” Not on them though. It was for them. She had been hacked into a mutant server for too long and nearly got Sentinels base caught. She then got in trouble even though it had been them telling her to stay in. As if she hadn’t hated them before that. Her smile grew. “Thank you so much, that makes me very happy.”

“Okay, maybe not silly, but some are probably more useful than others.” Sydney really did feel like her own was kind of dumb compared to most, but she answered the question anyway with a little shrug. “Dream Manipulation. Told you it wasn’t very cool.” Well, it could be, but it wasn’t exactly useful, that was for sure. She nodded as Farrah explained about her past hacking; she was genuinely intrigued. “Of course, that would be terrible if you got caught – you have to be careful with that sort of thing.” Sydney returned the smile warmly, catching the other girl’s eyes. “You’re welcome! It was honestly the most fun I’ve had in a while.”

Farrah was glad she didn’t get to hyped up on sugar or anything. She wasn’t sure if she ever did as a kid, it was all a complete blur and honestly she didn’t want to remember. She didn’t want to remember anything about her parents. Maybe that’s why she couldn’t remember anything from then, even when she tried. She really hoped she hadn’t upset him or anything about turning down the kiss or anything else. It’s not that it made her uncomfortable. Well, it did, but that wasn’t why she had turned it down. If she did have any feelings for him, she wasn’t ready to know. Not yet. It seemed too soon. Her head tilted to the side though as he spoke up. Maybe it had upset him. Fuck. She decided to forget about it for now. “Guess you’ll have to prove that then, your highness.” She forced a small grin before taking another sip of her drink.

Owen had devoured about half of the dessert, but it was too rich, even for him. He was glad for the change of subject, honestly, for he was feeling too vulnerable in that state to answer her question about the kissing thing. She didn’t seem too concern about it anyhow. “I sure will, your majesty,” he mused back with a small smile. “But, before we do, just so you know… you have a little chocolate syrup on your nose.” It was cute, but he wasn’t going to tell her that.

She worked for the government at one point, so she had practically done both of those on numerous occasions. Sydney definitely didn’t need to know that though. She had a few people who knew about it and those were the people who had known her there and she wanted to keep it that way. “Yeah, I could probably do both of those if I wanted. I have hacked into Sentinel a couple times. Still haven’t gotten caught.” Honestly her power could be expanded among many things, she was sure there were things she could do that she didn’t even know about yet. “I mean, all the founders put work into bringing it to life. I really only worked on the rides.”

You all have such cool powers and mine feels silly in comparison.” She hadn’t told anyone else about her ability besides her parents, except Nevaeh. “Maybe you can take them down via tech. That would be pretty badass.” Sydney smiled softly; maybe it was the realization that she wouldn’t see her parents again, or that she was stuck here now, but her flirty, matchmaking self had simmered. “Still, the rides were the best part! You also should be proud though of what you accomplished. It definitely made my welcome here more exciting.”

It made her relax slightly when he himself agreed to drop it all as well, not that she was really scared of anything he’d do. Not anymore at least. Though she really wasn’t sure what she’d want other wise, so coming up with one on the spot as they won was probably a better idea. Even though she’d probably still not have anything and she’d just stick with all the stuffed animals, maybe a couple bottles of alcohol. “That sounds good,” she shrugged, reaching her hand over to grab some more of the funnel cake. It had been actually better than she thought it would be which was great. It was also incredibly sweet though. “Not sure if that implies to kissing as well.” Her eyes didn’t meet his now, just looking at the pile of sweetness sitting between them. “I’m good with the basketball game though. And I’m not underestimating you, I swear.”

He was definitely going to be on a sugar high soon; their funnel cake was loaded with more toppings than Owen could keep track of. He decided to nip the kissing discussion in the bud, as it only seemed to make Farrah uncomfortable. “Great then,” he smiled, pleased they could at least compromise. He reached for a piece of the dessert too, and narrowly avoided brushing his fingers against hers. Owen’s eyebrow rose at her comment, surprised she was the one bringing it up. He was feeling a little deflated, which meant a wall would be coming up. “It doesn’t really matter now, does it?” He asked, following up with a shrug. “If you say so, Farrah. Be ready to have your mind blown though, because I’m the king of swish.”

Farrah wasn’t sure what was going on between her and Owen. He seemed to be getting more flirty and possibly into her each day that passed. She wasn’t quite sure about that, but at least that’s what seemed to be happening. Farrah however, was just more than ready to push their past out of the way and maybe be friends. She hadn’t really thought of it being more than that, at she didn’t think she had. She was glad Sydney didn’t continue on the topic though, it was a little much. “Well, the simplest explanation is that I can control tech. Kind of like telekinesis but just with tech but also much more. I can also control what the tech does, like the carnival rides? I was able to use my power to get all those rusty things up and running again.”

“Whoa, that must come in handy a lot. I mean, pretty much everything runs on technology these days. So, you could put out the electricity of a while city, or hack into the government if you wanted to?” Both were bad examples, and she didn’t think Farrah would do anything like that, but Sydney was in awe that she might have the capability to. “You did all that? Very cool. Everyone really seemed to enjoy the carnival; I know I did. I’m sure they’re grateful for all the trouble you went to.”

It’s not that she didn’t want something more as a prize, she just wasn’t sure what that something was. There was alcohol that they could win, but she wasn’t really much of a drinker. She had had bad experiences with drinking, a side of her he really didn’t need to see. The idea of the kiss hadn’t caught her off guard as much this time, since he had also mentioned one earlier. She just didn’t understand why he wanted to kiss her so bad. After their past, even the fact that they hadn’t even been talking again long. “Then keep them as your prizes.” She shrugged. She was a pretty confident person, so she was sure she could probably easiy win some more if these games, but if he still wanted a prize special to him then fine. “Just not the kiss one. I don’t feel like giving anyone here a kiss, besides, I’m a terrible kisser anyways.” Whether that was true or not, who cares, but maybe it could get him away from the idea. Picking up some more of the funnel cake, she slowly ate it before looking back at him. “Actually, I think it’s your turn to choose a game. I picked last time. Though, I still think I’ll kick your ass.”

Owen wasn’t really sure what he could suggest, but clearly the idea of a kiss was not something Farrah was into. Which, didn’t completely surprise him, but now he couldn’t say he hadn’t tried. They were still on rocky ground – did he think a move like that would actually persuade her. “Honestly I don’t care about those either,” he chimed in, not mention the kiss. He could leave her to guess whether he meant it as well or not. “Maybe we can just decide on the spot. Unless the stuffed animals are really great choices.” He picked at some more of the funnel cake and nodded, eyebrows arching a little. “I doubt you’re terrible at it; besides, practice makes perfect. We can drop that option though. And fine, I’ll choose a game. How about the basketball game? I think that’s simple enough, right? I’m not doubting that, but don’t underestimate me just yet either. I mean, save my ego a little.”

Finally, she reached over and broke a piece off of the funnel cake. She should have probably grabbed a fork to eat it, but this carnival was meant to be fun. Besides, it’s not like she was around any of her tech equipment anyways. She was allowed to be a little messy. She placed the piece in her mouth, chewing it as she listened to his words. The cake was definitely delicious. Maybe some of the best she had ever had, which was weird considering on normal days the food they’d have didn’t taste anywhere as good. It’s not like she had been turning his suggestions down on purpose, she just didn’t see herself doing any of it if she were to win. Honestly, she’d just be fine with a bunch of stuffed animals for winning. She had caught the whisper, but she was sure he had meant it to go unnoticed, so she kept her lips shut for the time being. Not sudden? What did that even mean? Was he actually interested in her? Or was he actually drunk? “I don’t know.” She stated simply, shrugging her shoulders. “I don’t really mind what the stakes are. You’re the one who wanted higher ones. And I’m not shooting them down.”

Farrah had a point; he had been the one to mention higher stakes, though he’d mostly been kidding when saying so. At least she hadn’t changed her attitude at the mention of the whole kissing idea, save from pointing out his sudden interest in it. She didn’t say yes or no, but didn’t seem appalled this time? Still, Owen figured it was probably best to drop it, especially if Farrah wasn’t really particular in what her prizes were. “I was just offering since you were winning, in case you were getting bored with that, but we can always add to Dumbo and Wolfie. I have no problem with that.” He smiled at her softly, watching as she dug into the dessert with her fingers, just like he was. It was nice to see a carefree side to her, and it put Owen at ease a bit too. He tried not to inhale the food too quickly s he could leave her plenty, but also to save himself from getting sick. “So which game are you going to destroy me on next? I have to warn you, I think my competitive streak is going to kick up a notch due to all this sugar.”

It's not that she didn't want something more as a prize, she just wasn't sure what that something was. There was alcohol that they could win, but she wasn't really much of a drinker. She had had bad experiences with drinking, a side of her he really didn't need to see. The idea of the kiss hadn't caught her off guard as much this time, since he had also mentioned one earlier. She just didn't understand why he wanted to kiss her so bad. After their past, even the fact that they hadn't even been talking again long. "Then keep them as your prizes." She shrugged. She was a pretty confident person, so she was sure she could probably easiy win some more if these games, but if he still wanted a prize special to him then fine. "Just not the kiss one. I don't feel like giving anyone here a kiss, besides, I'm a terrible kisser anyways." Whether that was true or not, who cares, but maybe it could get him away from the idea. Picking up some more of the funnel cake, she slowly ate it before looking back at him. "Actually, I think it's your turn to choose a game. I picked last time. Though, I still think I'll kick your ass."

It seemed like Sydney was beginning to drop the subject and that was definitely appreciated. Owen was starting to grow on Farrah, maybe a little more than he should be. That being, he wasn’t really someone she wanted to be thinking about a whole lot. It was beginning to seem like he was interested in her, probably more than just friends, but she wasn’t sure she was ready for something like that. She loved the fact that he was trusting her now and that she didn’t really have to fear anything around him, but it seemed like Nevaeh and maybe even this new girl were trying to push them together too quickly. Or at all. She didn’t want to talk about it though, so she instead nodded to her words. “Yeah, though I blame my powers for that mostly. Technopathy.”

Sydney didn’t want to lay things on too thick and deter her from Owen, or screw up a possible friendship for being so bold right away. So, she changed the subject, which she was generally interested in. The only mutants she’d ever known beside herself were Nevaeh and her parents, so discovering all of the different powers was mind-blowing. “Wow, that still sounds pretty cool. Can I ask what exactly that entails? Not to sound dumb or anything, I’m just still used to getting to know other mutants. I’ve only known a few in my lifetime. I think.”

Farrah wasn't sure what was going on between her and Owen. He seemed to be getting more flirty and possibly into her each day that passed. She wasn't quite sure about that, but at least that's what seemed to be happening. Farrah however, was just more than ready to push their past out of the way and maybe be friends. She hadn't really thought of it being more than that, at she didn't think she had. She was glad Sydney didn't continue on the topic though, it was a little much. "Well, the simplest explanation is that I can control tech. Kind of like telekinesis but just with tech but also much more. I can also control what the tech does, like the carnival rides? I was able to use my power to get all those rusty things up and running again."

She raised a brow as he went on about Dumbo, a small smirk playing at her lips. Did he really have a bit of a childish and innocent side? Now she wasn’t going to doubt it. She nodded though, more in response to his words on the funnel cake. She wasn’t sure if she was even going to be able to eat the half she had now claimed. It even seemed like a whole lot. She held the newly named elephant to her chest for a moment before sitting it on the table, far enough that it wouldn’t get messy. “I understand that, but I just don’t know if I’d want a slave, but you know what, I’m fine with it. That can be one option.” Her eyes narrowed at him. He had to be messing with her now. Right? “What is it with you and kissing me all of a sudden?”

Owen really was trying to show Farrah that he had more layers to him than most expected. He didn’t know if it would make a difference to her or not, but like Nevaeh had said – he could at least try. Owen could pack in the food, easily, but even he was uncertain of eating that much funnel cake. He’d give it a go though. It helped that it gave him an opportunity to sit down with Farrah and take in her gorgeous face, which the moon highlighted. “That doesn’t have to be an option, I’m just throwing ideas out here.” His smile lifted just a little at her reaction to the kiss suggestion. “Not sudden,” he mumbled, but knew she could probably here it. “Just thinking outside of the box here. You keep shooting my ideas down, so what would you want if you won?”

Finally, she reached over and broke a piece off of the funnel cake. She should have probably grabbed a fork to eat it, but this carnival was meant to be fun. Besides, it's not like she was around any of her tech equipment anyways. She was allowed to be a little messy. She placed the piece in her mouth, chewing it as she listened to his words. The cake was definitely delicious. Maybe some of the best she had ever had, which was weird considering on normal days the food they'd have didn't taste anywhere as good. It's not like she had been turning his suggestions down on purpose, she just didn't see herself doing any of it if she were to win. Honestly, she'd just be fine with a bunch of stuffed animals for winning. She had caught the whisper, but she was sure he had meant it to go unnoticed, so she kept her lips shut for the time being. Not sudden? What did that even mean? Was he actually interested in her? Or was he actually drunk? "I don't know." She stated simply, shrugging her shoulders. "I don't really mind what the stakes are. You're the one who wanted higher ones. And I'm not shooting them down."

Especially when it was Nevaeh they were talking about. She had remembered meeting the prankster only a few days after the place had been founded and she couldn’t remember one time she didn’t have a smile on her lips. She also knew the girl had quite a few friends, including herself and Owen so it should be easy for Sydney to get just as many. Not only that, the girl seemed pretty nice. Other than her obvious teasing. “Just the people who are already in relationships, not that he is.”

However, clearly nice; possibly too nice to call her out on this little game anyhow. Something about the end of her express made Sydney raise an eyebrow, but she wasn’t about to comment on Owen again, not this time. “Of course, I’d never flirt with someone who was taken, I was just curious about him.” She kept that honeyed smile on her face. “So, Nevaeh tells me you’re like a tech wizard here.”

“Definitely just one. Unless you think you can eat half of mine as well as a whole nother one.” She shrugged her shoulders before lifting the elephant a bit, holding it up in front of her. After a moment, she nodded. “I like it. Dumbo it is. You’re right though, he does have big ears.” She moved one of them around a bit before her eyes met his again. She followed him over to the table, taking a seat before reaching over and taking the drinks from him, sitting them both in front of each other. “Chores?” She scoffed softly before shaking her head. “I don’t think you want to be stuck with my work, Owen. And if you were my slave, I’d probably still make you help me in the tech room. So, either way there, you’re stuck working for me.” She shrugged a bit before taking a sip of her drink. She was really just trying to get him to pick something else because if she did happen to lose, she didn’t want either of those.

“I don’t know if I can even eat a whole one, much less one and a half. And I eat a lot. That’s too rich though,” he nodded, a little laugh coming from him as she wiggled the elephant’s ears. “He does, but it’s cute. Just like Dumbo. Which, if I remember correctly, was a pretty sad movie. I didn’t watch it much for that reason.” As soon as it slipped out Owen wanted to retract the statement because it made him sound too soft. Too late though. Sitting across from her with the monstrosity of a funnel cake in the middle for them to share, he cracked a little smirk at her reaction to his suggestions for the prize winner. “Really? But you could have me do so many other things for you. Clean, give you a massage…” he waggled his eyebrows playfully. “Well, then what do you want? I was going to suggest a kiss again, but I think I’d rather stay in one piece tonight.”
