twenty eighteen
2017 has been one of the best years of my life. I’ve grown a lot, moved into an apartment of my own, and successfully completed my second year of medical school. I want this year to be just as amazing. I want to hold myself accountable. I’m not going to make resolutions - those never stick. I’m making a list of intentions. A plan. So. What would I like to accomplish?
Academic
Complete 3rd year of medical school with at least a credit.
Get involved in medical research - take initiative and get involved!
Participate more in university events, committees and conferences
Keep on top of my studies, ensuring I keep organised, start assignments early, and minimise procrastination. Study smarter, not longer.
Remain disciplined with study habits. Don’t let an episode of Netflix turn into a wasted evening.
Personal
Be thankful of what I have. Complain less. Be grateful. Express appreciation more.
Pack lunches every day. Plus, I really don’t need to buy that hot drink.
Try new things - explore new places, try new recipes, and be open to new experiences.
Speak up and get involved. Stop being so self conscious and go for it.
Catch up with friends more often, and don’t let them fall out of touch.
Hobbies
Draw more regularly, for fun. Fill up a journal with sketches. Post more art online.
Read for leisure more often. Walk to a bookstore, buy a book, and read it at least once a month.
Exercise more - take the stairs more often, take breaks from studying to go for a walk, and go for longer walks with the dog.
Social media
Try to post 100 posts to SavvyMed in 2018
Continue using this blog and twitter to extend knowledge and connect with the medical community
Post art-based medical content regularly
With all this, don’t let social media become a distraction. Use it to enhance your learning and understanding of the medical world.
Ok, that’s it. Maybe I’ll add to these in the future. In any case, I look forward to seeing what is in store for 2018. Onwards and upwards!
