Its not the lack of cultural awareness, its the lack of even thinking of Japan having a different culture than America. "Yuno shouldn't be here" abortion is a hot topic EVERYWHERE. "Shidou should've been an actual cannibal" Organ transplants are taboo in Japan and brain death isn't thought of as actual death like it is in America.

This is a series that's also going into cultural differences, thats also why Milgram has so many official panguage translations. They want to see the opinions of people all across the globe and where a common opinion is shared.
