why abuse the helpless?

For my survey, I am going to have 4 multiple choice and 2 short responses. I want to know if the person is a male or female. Then I would like to know if they own a dog by checking yes or no. For the short responses, I would like to know what the person already knows about dog abuse. The second question is how they feel about dog abuse. The fourth multiple choice is going to ask what other abuse is dog abuse connected to. The last multiple choice question is, do you feel dog abuse is an important topic to discuss in the scholarly community. With this information, it will also help me realize why people do not show any real interest in dog abuse. This information might make someone realize that dog abuse is an important topic because it does link to more than one type of abuse.

           I believe that my survey will be helpful to my research because I need to know what people know about dog abuse so that my research can enlighten them more. I need to know what people do not know or understand so that I can include it in my research. There are not many scholarly articles about dog abuse which makes this topic a little difficult. I find that strange that dog abuse is not a real important because I thought most people had a family dog and people would care about what is happening to the dogs. I am more surprised that the government is not trying to help with homeless dogs. Agents such as FBI, Local Police, and military all use dogs to help them with investigations. I would think that these agents can help some of these dogs that are being abused.

           I am hoping to learn why is dog abuse not an important topic if it can connect to other types of abuses. My goal for the end of this project is to make everyone go out and adopt a dog. Lol realistically, I just want everyone to see how important dog abuse is. It does make sense if you can harm a dog then what can really stop you from harming your spouse or child one day? However, researchers say that any form of abuse can stem from an adult’s childhood. That does not justify why a person should commit any type of abuse.

Election Day !!!!!

Even though the line were super long and I had to wait 2 hours!!!!!! I made it my business to go vote. Since I was registered in Brooklyn I had to sign an affidavit to vote in Buffalo. Basically my vote is going to be sent to my district in Brooklyn.

Dog’s need love too..

My topic is about dog abuse. One of the most difficult topics to discuss because there is not a lot of information about it. Not only is there not enough information about it but it is usually not an interest to most people who do not own a dog. I strongly believe that if we can shed some light on what is going on with dog abuse then it will help to resolve the problem. In America, we tend to not pay attention to the negative things that happen around us. We see commercials with dogs in them but it is always portraying a happy image that all family love and take care of their dog. We do not see dog food company’s offering to help dogs in need by donating money to shelters. ASPCA had a heart touching commercial on animal cruelty but it did not stay on the air for long. I strongly believe that there are so many dogs that there is no place for them to live so shelters and adoptions just give dogs to any family in need of a dog. No one knows if that dog is in good hands or not and there is not much that can be done once the dog is a part of that family. The things that these dogs go through break my heart. I do not understand how a human can treat a creature so low like they do not have feelings too. Dogs were not brought into this world to be mistreated. Most people do not know these things because it is not a part of an everyday conversation. This topic may not be for everyone but it is certainly for the dog lovers. We need to help these dogs in need because we have the resources to do it. In other country dog are usually the prey and humans eat dogs! Researchers are saying that there is a link between dog abuse and child abuse and other forms of abuse. If you are capable of hurting an animal whom has a heart and brain just as a human than you are capable of way more. I do not think people understand there are still dog fight going on, only that one time when football player, Michael Vick, was fined and suspended by the NFL, also had to serve time. Of course, he got the minimum sentence and is still playing football to this day. We need to speak up for dogs who cannot speak from themselves.

NBA vs NFL

Should NBA players follow the rules NFL players do by letting a college student go through four years of college before being drafted? This is a topic I noticed not a lot of people tackle or talk about. When I started watching basketball I notice how players would even skip from high school to the league such as LeBron and Kobe Bryant, in these cases you would say these are great role models and they are hall of fame basketball players but if you look at the majority of high school basketball players that go straight to the league are not successful because they either not live up to their hype but also injury can play a huge part in all of this by ruining a player career. In the NFL players make it through all four years of their college career to be considered to be drafted by a NFL team which gives a player maturity, growth and also experience before coming in the league making them ready for the big league. It’s also very beneficial being if a player is injured which is very usual in the NFL they can simple fall back on their degree making a better situation for the player. Now the NBA has a rule that a player has to at least partake in their first year of college, which isn’t that different than the senior year in college. I believe this is even a more waste of time because a player does not gain that much experience for being one year in college and will not be NBA ready. This is the trend we see today in the NBA as soon as a player is finish with their first year in college they quickly decide to be in the draft. The new NBA commissioner Adam Silver should be more active and show effort in the protection and future of their players by following the rules of the NFL and let their player’s gain more experience and knowledge by letting them go through 4 years of college and then be considered a draft prospect. There are a few negatives towards it when you think of individual stats and individual pay. Now players have a mindset of getting money and to start their NBA stats early so they can be as great of a player like Kobe Bryant or LeBron James but god forbid an injury occur was it all worth it?

I agree when you say that the NBA need to make a rule that a basketball player must finish all 4 years of college before joining the NBA. One they would be mature and even more responsible. God forbid anything was to happen to that basketball player, such as a knee injury or anything that can permanently injure them, at least they would have the degree to fall back on. If the change was to happen, this would inspire a lot of young males to want to go straight to college. Unlike now a-days where you can be drafted from high school so young males do not inspire to go to college.

With the topic of this blog being based upon an issue we don’t talk about in class, my mind wondered. There are many topics I feel that we don’t touch upon, but I feel like we should. To me a major one is actually one of the simplest ones. Communication in today’s society has been downgraded greatly. It is sad how now a days people can barely have a face to face conversation. And even so if they are conversing, the quality of conversations has decreased as well. I feel that the advancement of technology we have been taking and our society is to blame for this current issue.

           Back in the days people had to actually talk to someone to find out what was wrong with them, or even to find out something in general. Now people can just look at someone’s social media to find out how they are feeling sometimes. It seems like people are more comfortable talking through text, then they are actually talking face to face with someone. This trend of anti-socialness to me is because of social media and phones. I feel that even though cell phones contribute largely to this problem, our society also contributes as well to it.

           Society today has pretty much made it seem that the best type of communication is little to no communication at all. I find that pretty sad because that is the way that people end up having issues because of miscommunication. Then one party ends up upset because the other never stated what was on their mind first. Also I feel like communication in relationships because society has decreased too. Society deems it to be cool to hang out with your boys all day and not communicate with the girl that’s really down for you, but in turn it could also be the opposite way.

           With all this being said, there is still way more levels to this issue of communication decreasing in society. I feel like it is in important issue that should be brought up in class because a lot of people suffer from simply not speaking about what is on their mind. If people just communicated more on the daily then everyone’s life would be a little easier. Also if everyone put down the electronic devices every once and a while to communicate, I feel that we would learn something interesting about someone every day

I must admit as I read this blog I felt so guilty because social media has defiantly caused many problems in my relationship. Social media has made it so easy to go Facebook and find a post that you can relate to. I realized it has become a problem when you’re at a restaurant and we are more into our phones than the person we are with. Older people can communicate easier because they did not have all this technology that we have. This is a topic I would love to discuss in class because I know everyone has at least one memorable experience with social media.

what to discuss

I think we have talked about many important thing in our class this year, and it is great to see that mostly everyone is listening and contributing cause what we are talking about is important. I think that maybe could talk about jobs. Jobs as in how to get one, what kind of jobs, and our future jobs, and why it is important to have one.

I know from my own personal experience that getting a job is not as easy as it seems. I see all of these help wanted signs all over town and i apply to almost all of them and yet I still do not have a job. I have had a couple interviews here and there but never got the job, but most of the time I do not even get a call back. Those same places still have wanted signs, so maybe i was not what they were looking for. But how could i be the one they are looking for. Do i need more experience, do i not have the correct experience, what is it?

Today i feel there is a bigger need to have a job. Not only a job that is there for spending money but a job to get you through life. School is really expensive now and all of these classes need books and those books are also expensive. Speaking for myself, it is not easy paying for all of this without a job. I had a teacher who had the nerve to tell me that people my age should not have a job. They say that this is the age to have fun and to enjoy ourselves before we have to spend the rest of our lives working. But what they don’t understand is that we are living in a world where you need to have a job, a source of income. They want me not to work but at the same time pay for their 100 dollar textbook. That is just not possible. They were older and i am guessing that life was easier and cheaper when they were my age. They clearly do not understand what life is like now or can not think that everyone is not privileged enough to pay for things and not have a job.

We are in college. Hopefully this is our last time going to school and we leave her getting a career that will give us enough money where we can live a nice life. But no one ever teaches us how to get a job or how to look for one.

This post is soooo much fact! I could not agree anymore. I had only 2 jobs my whole life and I am 19 years old. I do not think that we should be talking about how to get a job in college though. I believe a topic like this is made for high school. However, we do need to discuss the expense of college. As a college student, I can admit that I have a terrible spending problem. To top it off college is very expensive and I had to take out loans for college. I feel we should found ways to make college a cheaper place for everyone to be able to attend.

The Dakota AccesS Pipeline

This is a huge problem that many people don’t know anything about.  The Dakota Access Pipeline Project and protesters were not covered by the mainstream media until recently, and the public is still very unaware of the situation unfolding.  It is crucial that the pipeline is stopped from being built because it poses way too many risks to not only the Standing Sioux Tribe, but also the thousand of people who rely on the Missouri River for water.

The Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL) Project is a 3.8 billion dollar pipeline proposal that will carry crude oil and extend across North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa to areas in Illinois.  The pipeline was designed to transport about 470,000 barrels of oil per day across 1,172 miles.  As of recently the pipeline is already about 60% complete, even though there are over a thousand people fighting against this hazardous project.

The companies in charge of the construction of the DAPL forgot to take into account the reservation it would be passing through.  The Standing Rock Sioux live on this land and wish to keep it clean and safe for their people.  For months now, protest have been held against the pipeline project.  Protests began in April when the Sioux warned that the pipeline would most likely interfere with their culture and could potentially severely damage their water supply (the Missouri River.)  In November 2015, Bernie Sanders spoke out against the pipeline, while Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton still have not said a word about it yet nor have done anything to address the issue… wow, shocker…

On July 27, 2016 the Sioux tribe filed a lawsuit against the United States Army Corps of Engineers, after finalizing their crude oil pipeline permits, for violating multiple laws, one of which includes the National Historic Preservation Act.  The judge did not grant the injunction, but there were a few agencies that halted construction on the land.

Back in September, journalist Amy Goodman was covering the protests taking place when she was arrested by sheriffs for trespassing.  Later, they changed her charges from trespassing to joining in rioting with protesters.

A few weeks ago, actress Shailene Woodley was also arrested for trespassing.  She joined hundreds of other protesters, but was one of the few arrested that day.

More than 80 peaceful protesters were arrested for trespassing just yesterday, October 22, and some were pepper sprayed for what police called “rioting.”

I see the point you are making with this blog but I would like to know how would we incorporate this into a lesson? Like what are we going to do with this information. I agree with you though they should just leave the Sioux tribe alone. By putting that pipeline there we are interfering with how the Sioux tribe survives because they use the river as a resource. This would be a good topic if we were to talk about the effects of the modern companies. I honestly believe that Bernie Sanders is the only person who cares about this issue because he is the only one who actually cares about the people.

take a step out of your race for once...

We should discuss interracial families because that seems to be a problem in society now a-days. The first time I had seen an interracial commercial was a Cheerios commercial that a lot of people (white people) were debating about. In the commercial, there was a white little girl and a white woman and the little girl poured the Cheerios over her black father’s heart so it can stay strong. I do not understand how this can be so controversial in the 21st century, when racism “does not exist”. Many people strongly wanted this commercial off the air because of the message it was sending, which was nothing bad just a happy family that was interracial.

           I feel like this is important topic because racism should not exist even though some people are stuck in the 1800’s so they cannot look pass racism. This topic is kind of personal for me because I come from a very interracial family. My mother skin color is very pale even though she is black and white but my father has darker skin and is only African American. I grew up with two different kinds of grandmothers, one was from Alabama which is extremely racist. One time I was in Alabama with my father’s mother and as we were walking down the street someone walking pass said “that must be an Oreo child, you know half nigger half white.” I was younger so that statement did not mean much to me but my grandmother was extremely offended and ended up saying something to the person. To this day I do not understand why it bothered that person so much that I was lighter than my grandmother. I thought he was just being an asshole but my grandmother told me it bothered them because it was not something they are used to in the south.

           I feel that we should discuss this topic because I would love to know other people opinion on this topic. On social media, there is a lot of black males who say “I would never date a white woman because they cannot cook” as a joke but how can you say all white women cannot cook if you do not know all of them. It is not only black males on social media that tend to make joke about interracial couples. Lately there is this African couple, he is white and she is black, they got married and had a baby but somehow they were floating all over social media for negativity because of their skin color not because they are truly in love. I never seen the issue with this topic but lately everyone has some type of controversy about it. I just feel this is more of a group discussion were we just it in a circle and talk about it. Before we sit in the circle I think we should write down how we feel about it.

what a time to be alive... or not

Honestly speaking this is legit the worst election to be able to vote in. I could not wait to turn 18 to be able to vote, but now that I am 19 I have no motivation to vote. I know it sounds bad that I do not want to vote but realistically to are choosing between two idiots who are doing to fuck America up. I wish Obama could run for another term so I can go out and vote 100 more times for him. He set such a high bar for the next president and neither of these candidates are going to even reach that bar.

Trump is legit the WORST candidate to ever run. He has no political background so why would he ever think it is acceptable to run for president of THE UNITED STATES. I honestly do not watch any of the debates but when I go on Facebook I see him making a fool of himself on television. One night I was flicking through the channels and I saw a glimpse of what they were debating that about Hilary was asking about Trumps tax return and they both look stupid coming at each other and not worried about fixing real issues. I still do not understand why trump has such a big issue with immigrates when his wife was not originally born in America. Once he stated that he wanted to get rid of immigrate he lost almost ¾ of his voters. Maybe he did not realize that America is built on immigrates. So he automatically lost my vote, well technically he never had my vote.

For a second Hilary almost had my vote because Obama was supporting her. Not only was the president supporting her but her husband is a former president. I honestly thought she was going to be the first female president who showed people how strong women are. Trump would always bring up the fact that her husband cheated on her in the white house. At first I did not see why he always kept bringing this, but after while it was starting to make sense. I mean if you cannot earn the loyalty of your husband how does she expect to earn the loyalty of the American voters. I do not know what it is but I do not trust her I feel she will have a personal vendetta when she becomes president.

The vacation I will never forget

Ever since I can remember around the first week in July, my family and I would get up at six o’clock and hit the road. The ride would feel like a week, but it only lasted about six hours. My siblings and I would fight the whole way there. But once we got there, and I could smell the salt water, I would get so excited just to be by the ocean. All the fighting would stop.

I hated when my mom had to check us in for the campsite. Waiting in the hot car would feel like an oven, the sun was beating down on us. Once we got checked in, we would drive around until we could find our site. The first thing I always did was go to seek out the sand and put my feet in it. It would always burn at first, but after a few seconds, I got used to it after a couple of seconds. Before I could go and see the ocean for the first time, I would have to set up, which was the worst part of camping. I remember my mom saying,   “The faster you get done, the faster you can go and swim.” Once the set up was done, I would bolt and get changed.

One memory I have is walking from the campsite past the showers, where there was always around line, the bathrooms as little kids running around to find crabs, to find the hill to take me to the beach. I would go up farther, and finally there, I would begin to see the blue water with that view. I would take a minute and just take it all in. I loved that feeling. My twin brother and I would always race to find the perfect spot to put down the towels, and then we would jump in the ocean for the first time. The water would shock me like ice, but I would get over it. Then we would swim. My brothers, sister and I are like fish. We would never wanted to get out of the water or even leave. But my mom would make us so we could go and eat dinner. It was after dinner when my family and I would sit around the fire and hang out.

The best part of going to the beach in Maryland was the last night. It was the night we would go to Ocean City to the boardwalk. We could see Ocean City from the campsite. I would always look forward to going there. We would play games and go on rides on the boardwalk. The first ride I went on was the slingshot. I was so scared, but I went on the ride with my sister so I felt safer. It was always a good time.

When we got back to the camp site after the long night, we would sit around the campsite. Then we would go around the circle and say what the best and worst part of our vacation was. One memory around the circle was my brother Mat (yes that’s how you spell it) saying that his best part of vacation was going crab hunting the night before. My all-time favorite memory was just being there, as a family, and getting closer in that week.

Lol I understand how you feel about a long drive. The drive from the New York City to Buffalo is about a 7hr drive. I love the ocean too but not in America. The best beach I went to was in Bermuda because it was a pink sand beach. I loved the sand so much that I “accidentally” had some in my bag. I feel like the best part about being in the beach is when you are in the water and you can jump with the waves. I love when the water is clear enough that you can see your feet right through it. I hate when beaches are dirty I start to feel uncomfortable.

Visiting my 100 year old Great Grandmother

Last summer I flew to California to visit my Great Grandmother. She lives up in San Jose which is not a far drive from San Francisco. This trip was to spend time with her because she is 100 years old. But after arriving we realized she did not care that we were there and that we were just intruding on her shows. Since San Francisco was not too far away we might as well go.

My aunt was the one who was taking me everywhere around the city. Which was amazing because she actually used to live there when she first moved out of her house so she remembered what’s good about this place and where all the hidden gems there were. She took me to amazing restaurants. My favorite place she took me though was to this small town called Carmel. It is a small beach town with cute little shops and restaurants and a beautiful beach with warm waters. While sitting on the beach seals and dolphins were just coming up to us, swimming around and it was just an amazingly unique experience.

As much as I hate being a tourist, I knew that we had to go to San Francisco and just completely, full on be tourists. You know like see the seals, walk the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, and sight see the amazing city. While there I learned that this is a perfect place to live. Being right on the water there was always this cool breeze that cooled you down from the hot sun. The building, that were architecturally amazing, were tall and provided some much needed shade. The houses and neighborhoods were so pleasing to my eyes and could not get enough of them.The whole city had this amazing vibe and I was living for it.

After visiting San Francisco I am really considering making a move to live there. I know that it is extremely expensive but I think i still want to try and go for it. I am really trying to learn Spanish and am hoping that that could help me find a job out there. Not sure if it will actually happen but i am not forgetting it. One day i will be back to San Francisco and I will either be moving there or just visiting to have a good time.

Wow I visited California almost 8 years ago with my grandmother and aunt, and I had so much fun. We stayed for only 2 days because we went on a cruise. This blog got my attention because I love my grandma to death, plus I want to move to California after I graduate and plus I want to learn Spanish also. I think minoring in Spanish is the best way to learn Spanish. My grandmother is my favorite person in the whole world, I don’t not know what I would do without her. I hope and pray that my grandmother lives to see 100 years old.

How I broke my collarbone

Yeah, you read that right! I have broken my collarbone! You know how people just have “little accidents” that causes them to get badly injured? Wellllll, mines is a different story. And by different, I mean completely ridiculous.

So, It was my sophomore year of high school and I was playing for my school’s basketball team, The Emerson Eagles. We were…eh…a pretty good team and won a couple a games here and there but that’s besides the point. It was the end of the season, probably the third to last game and we were against this…should I say…“hardass swol beefy” team. This team was very aggressive and to be honest, I was scared shitless. Seriously. If you compare myself to them…then I would be considered as a baby.

Back to the story, I was playing guard in this game and the score was really close. It was…about the third quarter of the game and we were all equally exhausted by now. I suddenly had the ball and was running to the other side of the court to make this amazing basket. That is until this girl from the other team trip me. I never hit the ground head first so hard in my life. I can barely remember what happened a little afterwards but I do know that I was COMPLETELY OUT.

….it turns out I had a “minor concussion” and that I was out of the team for the rest of the season.

Fast forward to July 4th later that year, I was better. The bump on the side of my head when down and the sun was shining. Me and my family decided to go to the park for the holiday, which was fine at the time. I haven’t been on a swing in a while so why not.

I never fucking jinxed something so bad in my life guys.

SO, Yeah. I got on the swing and did my thing. I was always a high swinger cause I love the feeling of wind flowing through my hair. I know. Sounds cliche but it’s the truth.

There was this big tree near the swing set and the kids were climbing and throwing crabapples everywhere. If you don’t know what a crabapple is, look it up. Anyways, these kids are bad. They didn’t care. And I remember this boy, he was at the top of the tree, thinking that he was Lion King or something like that. I remember staring at him because I thought he was going to fall. I remember him looking at me dead in the eye as he threw that crabapple…

Right where I had my injury at.

At the side of my head where I got that minor concussion.

Wow I cannot believe that you broke your collar bone. I know I would have been crying forever. I use to play rugby so I understand what it is like to get a bad injury. I got tackled so badly that I hurt my knee and I could not play for 3 weeks. I was so upset because it was so boring to just sit there and watch the game. I kind of felt lost without playing rugby. I mean my injury was not as bad as yours but I still can feel your pain a little.

The World is Evil and I Cry Over the Death of Small Animals

It took me forever to decide what story I felt like telling for my first blog post.  I have a lot of stories to tell, but I can never seem to think of any when they are needed.  I have chosen to share a traumatizing event from my childhood with you.  This memory is forever burned into the back of my mind, and shall stay with me until the day I die.  Here it goes…

I was about seven or eight years old, and it was a warm summer afternoon.  The sky was clear with a few splotches of white here and there, and the sun was glowing in the East, and let’s say the temperature was around 80 degrees with a slight breeze.  

My nextdoor-neighbors were throwing a party next door.  For what?  I have no idea.  There was only a small strip of grass, maybe three feet wide, that separated my family’s driveway and the neighbor’s.  I was sitting in that strip of green when I noticed a caterpillar inching along my driveway.  I observed it’s every move, admiring it’s lime green fuzz and its splotches of red as it dragged along the pavement.  I placed my hand down next to the little guy and compared its size to the length of my pointer finger. 

Splat, and a fizz.  Orange soda fell from the sky- or really, the hands of two older boys towering above me.  I watched in horror as the caterpillar reacted in a terrifying and indescribable way.  Squirming and jerking it’s fragile body left and right.  My heart shattered into a million tiny pieces.  The boys proceeded to sever the creature with a hockey stick, and the pieces of my heart began to explode.  Tears began welling up in my eyes.  I jolted into my house, through the garage and up the stairs, while the boys menacing laughs echoed behind me.   

I reached my bedroom, out of breath, and slammed my tear-stained face into my pillow. 

So… why does this story matter?  In the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t.  Nothing matters, we are all going to die and no one cares if you cry over a caterpillar being slaughtered or not.  But, I think this is a good story to introduce myself with because it still conveys some accurate things about me as a person:

I am very observant and perceptive; and, I am distracted or amused by little things very easily.  

I show a lot of empathy toward other living beings.  

Whether it is a bug, animal, or human, I will try to understand the way it is feeling in different situations.

I cry a lot. 

Animal Rights is now a big topic of interest for me, years later.

This is the story of the moment I realized humans are evil, and that’s all I have to say about that.

Omg I cry a lot too, my friends and family call me the cry baby but I just feel I am a little sensitive. I would have been so hurt when the caterpillar was dying. I do not really like insects I am more of a dog lover but I just do not like to see animals get hurt in anyway. I feel like animal cruelty is a big problem that people do not really focus on. Lol I do not believe all humans are evil some people just do not share the same views as you when it comes to animals.

I love when Autumn approaches. That means Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas is coming soon. Out of all three of those holidays my favorite one is definitely Thanksgiving. It had always been my favorite holiday since I was younger. I love it so much because of the food and the time you get to spend with your family. The atmosphere is so welcoming, there is nothing but laughs and jokes. I really started to appreciate Thanksgiving once I came to college. Here in Buffalo there is not much of a variety of food. Being from the city I am so use to being able to get food at anytime so it was difficult adjusting to that.

When I went home last year for Thanksgiving I put in so many request for different types of food. My family is very mixed so we do not have the usual turkey with gravy, we make pork, mac and cheese, rice with olives, ham, bake chicken, fried chicken, candy yams, collard greens, ribs, and my favorite banana pudding. My aunt, my mother, and my grandmother start to cook majority of the food the night before because it is too much to cook in one day. Previous years Thanksgiving would be at my grandmother’s house but last year it was at my uncle’s house.

Most of my friends are from the Caribbean so they do not celebrate Thanksgiving. My mother always tells me to invite them because there is always way too much food. Our typical Thanksgiving morning would start off with someone making a big breakfast so that we are full enough until dinner time. Usually it is between me and my youngest aunt and we play rock paper scissors to see who has to wake up early to make breakfast. Last year they cut me some slack because I had just came back from college. My grandmother made the best breakfast of all times she make grits with cheese, bacon, turkey sausage, biscuits, cheddar scrambled eggs ( I hate eggs), and pancakes with strawberries and bananas. I felt like I had a five star breakfast compared to Buffalo State’s food.

At the dinner table is one of the best times too. We sit by the tv, not at a dinner table, and we watch whatever football game that is on. During the commercials we would have random conversations about where the next family vacation, and the famous family question they love to ask “how’s school?” then somehow I will have to change the topic because then it would lead to asking if I have a boyfriend. Around 10/11pm we start leave because we do black Friday shopping and we have to start early. I cannot lie I am super excited about thanksgiving this year, I can taste the food already.

Blog #2

Recently I have learned about multimodal projects and what it exactly is. From my understanding it is broken down into sound, visual, text, feel and space to help portray the information. I believe that multimodal is used to help covey information to the audience so that they have a better understanding of what you are talking about. We use multimodal in our everyday lives without even realizing it. Cartoons, podcast, comic books, music, and even talking while using your hands is considered multimodal. For class we have to do a picture project which sounds easy but is turning out to be so difficult for me. In our picture project we have to use multimodal which are the images and the narrative that goes along with it.

I think that the subject is too broad because I feel like I can legit talk about anything due to the fact I know there is no right or wrong to this project. I want to create a story that make sense but I do not know how to connect it to the pictures. I am not from Buffalo so I am not too familiar with the area. So I know I will be taking my pictures around campus but I just cannot seem to figure out what yet. I like this project because it is making me open my eyes and see what is on campus. I do not understand why is it taking me so long to start this project but I know I can be really creative with it. I enjoy looking around campus to find new thing, surprisingly there are a lot of strange things on campus but not things you can put together to create a story.  

My idea was to take picture on Elmwood at night to help create my story. Late night on Elmwood can look very creepy which makes good picture and a creepy story. I want a picture of the asylum but not to close because it is weird. The blocks to walk to Calio’s are long and narrow blocks but there is usually no one walking there around 12 o’clock so I think that’s when I will take those pictures. My next picture would be by the museum, I would take a picture of that tree that is shinny and try to incorporate it in my story somehow. I would also take a picture of the boats that are in the lake. I feel like the pictures I want to take are creating a mysterious narrative.

Day 6 was just a calm pool day and I just tanned. By day 7 we were off the ship. Even though this wasn’t one of my best cruise, I still managed to have fun. That just how I am, I make the best out of every situation. I am defiantly looking forward to our family vacation to Greece and South Africa Next year.

Day 5 we were in Freeport, Bahamas this day was more of a calmer day. Since this was our last day in the Caribbean we did some souvenir shopping. All the locals will annoy you to go into their shop but we would lie and say we were coming back. After we bought a couple of items we needed a drink. I think the drinking age is 16 years old but I am not really sure. We went to Senior Frogs first and bought a drink. One of the workers just loved the fact that we were from New York so he kept on giving us free shots. I was feeling nice but I could not stop drinking so we went to Fat Tuesdays and bought the big cup. After that moment I was drunk and we decided to get back on the ship and have fun by the pool.
