             After doing some research on my topic I realized a few things. One of the things I realized is that the gap I was pursuing was not only in the right direction, but that there truly wasn’t research done in that gap. I don’t know if it is because no one feels it is necessary, or no one got around to it, but it is my turn to contribute to helping this gap. Many researchers tell you that there is obviously a stigma of violence attached to the sneaker community. It is estimated that 1,200 people a year are killed over shoes. The sneaker world also has had many arrests and riots over these items.

             Where I find, myself seeing this gap is the information about the people who purchase these shoes, and commit these violent actions. Everyone knows that people commit these actions, but no one finds the reason as to why they do it. I want to research as to why people commit these violent crimes for something that people just see as shoes. I mean yeah they are just shoes, but to these people shoes are a holy grail.

             To conduct my research for this project I want to go around to the buffalo state community and interview fifteen to twenty students. While conducting these interviews, I will get to know a little bit about them and see the basics like their background. Based on that I could be able to tell if someone is from an area where these sneaker related crimes occur.  After finding out that I can further my questioning. I can ask them questions like why do you feel that people kill for shoes? Or do you think it is ok for people to be robbed over a pair of sneakers.

             Hopefully after conducting my research on these individuals, I can begin to generalize a statement on my scholarly gap. If my project I good enough who knows maybe someone will take my research and further it to really find a true answer to this issue at hand.

So i went to the polls today on 50 rees street to vote. After casting my vote i wanted to get a sticker that said i voted or take some sort of picture to show that i did. the lady said they were out of stickers, and told me take a picture of the poll entrance sign so that is what i did.

Same Sex Relationships/ Marriage

A topic we have not discussed in class is …. SAME SEX MARRIAGE/RELATIONSHIPS 

Why is same sex marriage or dating still an issue ? Why have people that are apart of the LGBTQ community placed in a box and not treated like every other human being in the world ?

Understanding we live in America , home of the brave and the free… yeah not exactly but getting off topic here. I feel that everyone deserves respect , everyone deserves love and  it should not matter what gender they are, because having the perfect American family, with a mom and a dad is always the best, yeah not really . As being apart of this generation , what are your views on same sex relationships , and how do you think it should have been handled or did President Barack Obama do the right thing , with legalizing it ? Is it an issue because of the Bible ? or the older generation like our parents and grandparents ? I would like feedback on this , I personally being someone who is a Christian ,who believes in the Word Of God , I have no issue , maybe its because I view everyone as equal, no one is better than anyone else , and also because I had a first hand experience with it growing up with my sibling ,who struggles to still be accepted and loved by our immediate family.  How to discuss this topic , its like ripping off a band aid , you just do it , but you do not need to  be aggressive about the discussion , getting educated about this topic is not hard but there is always something new , that can be discussed and talked about. I feel strongly about this topic because , people of the LGBTQ community , get poorly treated , yeah we have all heard about the hate crimes against them ,but they are placed in a box , where they get kicked out of local places just because they chose to love a person who is the same gender as them. No one wants to be defined or judged or feel like an outcast to anyone , so if you do not want it done to you why do it to others ? Is it because they do not have the same values or beliefs or because it is not normal, or it is not the way things should be ? They said a Black man could never be President , but he was for eight years , so looks like everyone views on what the world or America should look like should just take a step back and realize that this world and generation is changing and there is nothing or no one who can stop it .

I feel very strong about this topic of choice. I have many people in my family who are part of the LGBT community. I love every single one of them indifferently, but the number one thing that upsets me is how they are treated. They are truly beautiful people but since their sexual orientation is different people feel the need to make fun of them and that gets me so angry. Why does it matter who someone loves? That is completely their choice. Love is not an appearance related thing; love is between two souls. Love is something that can’t be stopped no matter what people try to do. Equal Opportunity between men and women wages

Do you know that Men get paid more than woman? Did you know that society consider woman  to be housewives? i feel like this is one topic we can discuss in class. what does is it really mean though? Are females paid less because they choose lower paying jobs?  Do they get paid less because they have more care-giving responsibilities or maybe even because they do more part time work than men do? But, the real question is what does gender bias as to do with the paychecks being giving?

According to “AAUW” the truth about gender pay gap is succinctly addresses these issue by 80% statistics. The reason Men get paid more than woman is because woman are the ones to get pregnant and have to take days off to get checked out also the company would have to pay you for not working those days. Also health insurance i think the company would be responsible for that covering hospital bills and plus sick days. 

Do you know that if your a woman and an minority that it is 10 times harder for you  to make it in this world.The full time workers in 2015,  Hispanic, African american, american Indian, and native Hawaiian had lower median earnings compared to non-Hispanic whites and Asian woman. They also only made 80 cents for every dollar that a man has made with a gender wage gap of 20 percent. i feel as if men are more demanding in what they want also and woman just settle for whatever they are offered. In the middle skill occupation workers in jobs mainly done by women only earn about 66% of workers in the job that are actually done by men.

              I like the fact that you brought this topic up. it seems that when this topic is brought is it shunned upon or over looked by all men, and it’s sad because even some women neglect this also. I feel strongly that women should be paid equally as men are. Women have very important skills that I feel us men lack sometimes like using emotions and convincing. Females also can do work with their hands like us men do. I mean maybe some can’t lift certain heavy objects, but they can still hold their own and contribute to the work force and deserved an equal pay as men.

NBA vs NFL

Should NBA players follow the rules NFL players do by letting a college student go through four years of college before being drafted? This is a topic I noticed not a lot of people tackle or talk about. When I started watching basketball I notice how players would even skip from high school to the league such as LeBron and Kobe Bryant, in these cases you would say these are great role models and they are hall of fame basketball players but if you look at the majority of high school basketball players that go straight to the league are not successful because they either not live up to their hype but also injury can play a huge part in all of this by ruining a player career. In the NFL players make it through all four years of their college career to be considered to be drafted by a NFL team which gives a player maturity, growth and also experience before coming in the league making them ready for the big league. It’s also very beneficial being if a player is injured which is very usual in the NFL they can simple fall back on their degree making a better situation for the player. Now the NBA has a rule that a player has to at least partake in their first year of college, which isn’t that different than the senior year in college. I believe this is even a more waste of time because a player does not gain that much experience for being one year in college and will not be NBA ready. This is the trend we see today in the NBA as soon as a player is finish with their first year in college they quickly decide to be in the draft. The new NBA commissioner Adam Silver should be more active and show effort in the protection and future of their players by following the rules of the NFL and let their player’s gain more experience and knowledge by letting them go through 4 years of college and then be considered a draft prospect. There are a few negatives towards it when you think of individual stats and individual pay. Now players have a mindset of getting money and to start their NBA stats early so they can be as great of a player like Kobe Bryant or LeBron James but god forbid an injury occur was it all worth it?

I like this topic you chose because a lot of people neglect this topic a lot. I feel that the NBA should indeed make it mandatory to participate in all years of college before they enter the professional leagues. Players should mature and learn how to make better life decisions before they are allowed in the NBA. For instance NFL quarter back Johnny Manziel acts like a clown pretty much but he attended all four years of his college. Imagine if he didn’t finish and went straight to the league and let all the hype get to his head, he would be out of control at that point. School Violence

School violence is youth violence that sometimes may take on school a property, or even some students may face or fear a act of violence will walking home from school or during a school events which can leading to young children losing their lives over nothing that could’ve been prevented. A young person can be a victim, a suspect, or a witness of school violence. School violence may also involve adults and the impacts they have towards their own child or in some cases what they have experience. The thought of thinking about students don’t care enough for a school that they would just want to damaging the school’s atmosphere. Putting students in fear to enter the premises of the school fearing acts of violence against them or around them. This also very badly affects the learning environment of the school. They usually lose focus and start to lack on their education. If young people aren’t taught from an early age about the consequences of what is wrong and what is right they start to feel as if they can do what they want on their own. Education does not always have to be taught at home or in the class, but most importantly through the parents. And because of the lack of parenting students are now bringing guns, knives, and other weapons to school, and many of these students are using them to hurt and kill. A student who faces lack of love and attention may also become violent. They usually look for it at schools if they don’t get it from home and when they are at school there are no supportive teachers, so they feel it is okay to disrespect teachers and the other students in the class. The teacher is not helping a student through difficulties, and which leads to frustration. It is the teacher’s duty to guide the student and help to him/her. A student may also result to violence when he/she is unsure of his career or future and hence proper guidance and the help that is required.In a world with so many cruel people and different perspectives it hard for us to come together and help the violence decrease. Just because we do all come from different races, different sexual orientations and different nationalities. We shouldn’t feel like we don’t fit in with different groups of people and be equal without any violence. It can be harder to find your place if everyone around you makes fun of you for the qualities which make you different but if we teach our youth that we are all equal then there will be less hatred towards one another. As school violence creates a large amount of problems and troubles we need to help this issue and try to prevent or reduce violence in schools. It is not only important for the child’s career but for our children’s safety. We shouldn’t have to be afraid of sending our kids to school because other students we need to teach them proper way to treat one another. It is the responsibility of schools and parents to give proper guidance, equality, support, love, care and affection to our youth. These things can easily reduce or prevent such kind of inhumane attitude.

              I feel that bullying in general is a topic that gets over looked a lot now a day in society. I agree when you said education doesn’t always have to be taught in school. There is a lot of home training that I feel like bullies could learn. Like consideration is a major thing that people lack and contributes to the violence. If everyone considered what everyone around us goes through we would probably have a more understand world. Parents really do have to step up and speak to their children and educate some of them a little more on basic home manners.

With the topic of this blog being based upon an issue we don’t talk about in class, my mind wondered. There are many topics I feel that we don’t touch upon, but I feel like we should. To me a major one is actually one of the simplest ones. Communication in today’s society has been downgraded greatly. It is sad how now a days people can barely have a face to face conversation. And even so if they are conversing, the quality of conversations has decreased as well. I feel that the advancement of technology we have been taking and our society is to blame for this current issue.

           Back in the days people had to actually talk to someone to find out what was wrong with them, or even to find out something in general. Now people can just look at someone’s social media to find out how they are feeling sometimes. It seems like people are more comfortable talking through text, then they are actually talking face to face with someone. This trend of anti-socialness to me is because of social media and phones. I feel that even though cell phones contribute largely to this problem, our society also contributes as well to it.

           Society today has pretty much made it seem that the best type of communication is little to no communication at all. I find that pretty sad because that is the way that people end up having issues because of miscommunication. Then one party ends up upset because the other never stated what was on their mind first. Also I feel like communication in relationships because society has decreased too. Society deems it to be cool to hang out with your boys all day and not communicate with the girl that’s really down for you, but in turn it could also be the opposite way.

           With all this being said, there is still way more levels to this issue of communication decreasing in society. I feel like it is in important issue that should be brought up in class because a lot of people suffer from simply not speaking about what is on their mind. If people just communicated more on the daily then everyone’s life would be a little easier. Also if everyone put down the electronic devices every once and a while to communicate, I feel that we would learn something interesting about someone every day

These up and coming presidential elections have been a very weird sort of comedy show. The way these candidates have composed themselves to the media is truly funny to me. Personally I feel neither of these candidates are fit to run America. The issue with both of them is evident. Donald Trump is a racist who has no regret for any of his actions. The way he treats minorities in his rallies is disgusting. I find that his following is disappointing too, the way they all agree to his racist slurs, and follow him publicly is sad. However, I feel that the bigger issue is Hillary Clinton. She has constantly lied to the people of America, and cannot be trusted. I find it truly sad that the only two people that are “fit” to run our nation are not model citizens.

             How can we rely on a person who has lied to the very own government she works for? Hillary has deleted over thirty-three thousand emails. I don’t see how you can trust a person who deletes that many confidential emails, and has no answers to the public about where the emails have gone. Also working for the United States government you are federally mandated to not delete your emails, and show them the emails whenever they please to see them. If Any other government official where to delete confidential emails they would be immediately arrested by the government without question. If this were Obama doing this he would be impeached immediately from his seat in office.

             She also had messages containing information on the bengazi attack in her emails, but those went somehow missing as well. That should be considered treason on her account for having that information and it just “disappearing”. I don’t find it fair how a true honest candidate like Bernie Sanders was taken out of the run, but a liar and a racist end up taking the leads. I don’t understand how America works, but as YG once said “fuck Donald trump”.

I know the topic of Politics usual don’t interest anyone but to me I have noticed that politics have been starting change the aspects of every topic like sports, entertainment and even social media. Being that the Election is in November these two candidates have really made a great impact on other issues that no matter what it goes back to these two candidates especially trump. Recently there have been a numerous amount of African Americans being brutally killed by Caucasian Police officers, usually in the black community this is not a surprise because these types of events have been going on for years but know social media has a grip on the issue and has introducing the world to the racism in America. Now it’s a bit of a surprise to America being that these killings are being recorded and shown live. Even being that these events are recorded still the officers that are involved with the killing are not being sent to prison being sent on a paid leave absence. A topic like this always leads back to Politics being that one of the candidates for the upcoming election Donald Trump have been showing America what racism really is, Even on social media trump rallies are being recorded seeing a group of people attacking minority groups verbally and physically. With these types of racism unfolding in America Bigger names in sports are taking a stand to stop violence such as Colin Kaepernick Kneeling down why the national anthem plays but even an event like this racism seems to creep up because some Caucasian men and women are calling acts like this as ungrateful and I would see these kinds of stuff on social media many people are saying racial comments and attacking athletes that take these stands for their community. This all goes back to politics with Trump revealing what living in America is like, being an immigrant from another country I don’t feel a sense of comfort when I see Trump says what he says at his rallies that immigrants are the cause for the “bringing down” of America and that once they are gone or under control America will be great again. Comments like these and events like this influence and plays a big part in sports, entertainment and social media, also shows the generation that spends more time on social media what the true America is.

With politics being such a “boring” topic, I feel that this post is important. Politics literally take over everything that goes on around us today. These two candidates that we have are really disturbing if this is where the future of our country is headed. Donald Trump and his racist antics is not ok to represent us a country. Hillary is another story as well because how can we have a president represent us but she has a history of lying. There are so many other candidates that can take us in a much better direction, but everyone just turns their head and ignores it.

Homelessness

Imagine feeling lost and not knowing what to do or where to go. Today, the problem of homeless people is rather a pressing one, and, unfortunately, is widespread all over the world. Homelessness can come from different situations it can be from high rent and getting evicted, low salary, mental disability, the loss of all the members of the family etc. When people are in such a difficult situation, they need to live further somehow and they have no other way out than to live in a small world not being cared about by not a single soul. Witnessing people each night and day sleeping on New York City streets, in the subway system, and in other public spaces. You spend almost every night on a bench or on the floor. Depending on the weather you have to find somewhere for shelter so you wont get caught in the rain or be out in the freezing cold usually under a filthy blanket or ragged coats or something to keep them warm. When you get hungry, you beg people for change to eat a cheap meal or you search the nearest garbage can and find something to keep you full till you are able to get some real food. For the rest of the day you sit in the city hoping people will notice you and will feel some sympathy to want to help you out. If someone gives them money they may respond with prayers of thanks and blessings, or stare off into space feeling untouched by efforts that people gave to them when trying to help. These people are called homeless, although they are more than just people without homes. Many homeless people show signs of drug addictions, smelling of alcohol, and even smell like they have been drinking from their drunkenness and the way the are reacting to the people who are living their normal lives. Some people in society may feel sad when questioned by panhandlers; as others feel anger or even fear to their stories. “You are not judged by who you are but what you are”, a lot of people in todays society don’t understand the seriousness behind homelessness.

I agree completely with your feelings towards homeless people. I feel that everyone deserves a nice warm home to sleep at every night or a place with some sort of security. It is so upsetting knowing there are thousands of people in New York City alone that have to worry where they are going to sleep at night time. It’s even worse to see that this city puts things such as spikes on window sills so bums cannot sleep in those openings. The city treats bum as if they are lower than the normal person around us and that Is horrible.

This week had been crazy. All my professors decided to give me a lot of work and quizzes all due in the same week. It is not easy taking 6 classes but it gets overwhelming when they all assign work that is due in the same week. I had to stay up for two days in a row to make sure I finish them all so I can be free on the weekend. Homecoming weekend wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. I was hoping there would be more events but there wasn’t; my friends who came from Binghamton,NY weren’t happy because there wasn’t a lot to do but we managed to go out and hang out and have fun since I won’t see them again until we go on recess. I ended staying in most of the weekend and sleeping. I studied, played soccer, went out and did a little shopping on Sunday after my friends left.

I definitely feel you on this post. Opposed to you I’m only taking five classes this semester, but all my teachers assign a crazy amount of homework. My stats of economics class is currently kicking my ass and the homework isn’t easy either. I was upset at homecoming weekend to. I wish there was more to do that weekend. Me and my friends got all dressed up and went to the carnival for nothing.  All the lines were way too long to even try and wait for them. We ended up staying in and doing nothing. I feel bad for your friends that visited to.

The day I got tried

It was a week before my 17th birthday, and I had no intentions of what was about to take place. No one was going to ruin my big day, and I would do anything to make sure it was perfect. There was one BIG event that tried to lead up to a “fucked up” birthday but I’m stubborn and if I want it, I get it. I wanted a great birthday in school and was stopping at nothing to get it!

Basically, my older sister had a boyfriend, whose younger sister didn’t like my friends and me. One Friday morning I was absent to school due to a cold and major cramps. I was in no shape for coming in school. I woke up that day at around 9:30 a.m. and got a text from my two best friends. They had told me she was talking about my sister. You may ask yourself, “Isn’t that her brother’s girlfriend”, of 8 months now. I was going to come to school to ask the young soul why is she “bad mouthing” my sister, when the bell rang for next period. My friends told me it made no sense to say something when the class is over and the day just started. They reminded me I’m already not feeling well and to leave it alone. So, that’s exactly what I planned on doing until later on that evening.

At around 10:30 p.m., my sister walked into the house with her boyfriend. She stopped by at my bedroom door when my friends and I realized she was not alone. I saw the dark shadow approaching my door as I called his name. I told him, “Tell your sister to keep my sister’s name out her mouth”. My friend added in “Before I close her mouth for her”. Him listening to our commandments of telling his sister, he did so.

Monday morning, I came into school on a cool October day. Being autumn, I wore a sweatshirt and Uggs. The night before, I was involved in a fashion show and my hair was still curled. I was not dressed for what was about to happen. The bell rang for 3rd period and I began to leave my class and head down the staircase. As I waited for the last English class to leave and for mine to enter, I see an unfriendly face coming my way. It was the girl who had talked about my sister. The girl and I soon got into a heated argument but I did not think further more would take part in school. She did the unthinkable and actually touched my face. I then dropped my bag and blacked out! When I “woke up” from the black out I saw the girl’s friend trying to take her friend out of my palm. I then watched my other (did not say anything but is my best friend) friend fighting the girl’s friend. I didn’t even know I was fighting! I have never been involved in a fight in school or period. When the girl saw me she tried to push me so I dragged her to other the other the side of the hall punching her in the face. I tried to be nice and calm her down n just hold her head down but she tried to hit me again so I began to punch her in the face as the assistant principle came to grab me off her.

Long story short the girl got suspended for staring such a daring activity in school. I got to stay with no suspension since I did nothing but protected myself once attacked.

As I told you in the beginning, I was going to stop at nothing to stay in school so I could celebrate my birthday!

              After reading this story all I can say is wow. My birthday is in the summer so I never had the enjoyment of having a birthday in school. I can only imagine how fun it must be to have all your close friends there celebrating with you. I feel like the principle blessed you by letting you stay in school for your birthday. My principal was very stern in high school so he would have kicked both of you out of school for the day. On top of that its crazy how it was your sisters’ boyfriend’s little sister. That’s really a crazy turn of events.

Blog #3   The time I ended up with a hole in my leg

              The day started off like any other day back in high school. I woke up that morning wanting to rest for another five minutes like every other kid. Struggled to make it to my bus on time, and barley stayed awake through my class periods. The only thing different about this day than any other day was that it was Friday. My friend had told me about a party that day in our lunch period. From lunch on through the next four periods all I could think about was if my mom would let me go to the party or not. I was a senior in high school but my mom didn’t like me going out to parties.

              In my last class I was debating on texting my mom or not to go to the party. I just decided to finally text her. She said she would let me know when she got home from work so there was hope. When I got home from school I cleaned my room and cleaned up the house, and picked up my little sister from her school. When my mom came home she questioned me about who I was going with and where it was. My older sister agreed to take me there and back from the party. My friends and I went out and bought some drinks for the night.

              When my friends and I arrived at the party we saw a bunch of people from our school there. Practically all my friends from the football team were there, and other kids from the school. One of my boys from the football team was having problems with one of the kids there. He was telling us how this kid was dating his ex and talking bad about him. By this time, we were all a little drunk already and having a good time. My boy decided to confront the kid, and after that they started fighting. The girl who was throwing the party, her parents were gone for a week. So while the kids are fighting she was trying to make sure they weren’t going to break anything. My friend grabbed the kid by the neck and threw him into the stair case railing which broke. Then the kid shoved him and broke a huge hole in the wall.

After that they ended up breaking up the fight and the girl kicked everyone out. While my friends and I were walking out the cops were pulling up at that exact moment. We had some alcohol on us still and we all were underage at the time. Me and my friends decided to run to the high school that was by her house, but we weren’t in our town. As we were all running from the cops, I hit a metal wire that had spikes on it. One of the spikes ripped into my leg and made a deep hole in my leg. I was intoxicated so I didn’t feel it to be honest. I kept running and we ended up getting away. When my sister picked me up I showed her and there was a huge blood stain on my sock from the hole. She made me bite down on a towel while she poured hydrogen peroxide on my leg. The pain that I felt was insane but I couldn’t tell my mom. She never found out until months later, but she never really ended up caring about it.
