Wiz Khalifa Announced for SBU's End of the Year Concert
Wiz Khalifa, the joint-loving hip-hop artist leading the current generation of post-Kanye West rappers, is currently set to perform at Stony Brook Universityâs end-of-the-year concert on April 27. The Undergraduate Student Government, under its event-planning wing, the Student Activities Board, has confirmed a bid contract with Wiz for $85,000 and is in the negotiating stages of finalizing a confirmed contract, according to Special Programming Agency Director Jackie Cowles and USG President Mark Maloof. Opening for Wiz will be R&B artist Miguel Jontel, who is set to perform for $15,000, as well as a currently undisclosed opener of Wizâs choosing for roughly $1,500. Poll after poll says that most Americans want to raise taxes on the rich. In one recent survey, more than two-thirds of respondents â and even a majority of Republicans! â favored higher taxes on households making more than $250,000 per year. Why are people who want to be elected president proposing the exact opposite of what the people want? The most charitable answer is that they think lower taxes are good for the country. Reducing taxes on the rich would make them work harder, save more, and promote economic growth. This is the theory George H.W. Bush once called âvoodoo economics,â and 30 years later, itâs still voodoo.

Bank Of America Backlash of the Day: Score 1 for the 99: Backlash from consumers has forced Bank of America to ditch its plan to charge a $5 monthly fee on debit card usage.
âWe have listened to our customers very closely over the last few weeks,â said Bank of America Co-Chief Operating Officer David Darnell, âand recognize their concern with our proposed debit usage fee.â
BoAâs shares dropped 6 percent in the wake of the announcement. Several banks recently decided to scrap similar test programs, while others canceled existing fees.
âItâs a sign of consumer power in action,â Norma Garcia of Consumers Union was quoted as saying. âThis is a sign of the marketplace working.â

As you know if you saw our announcement yesterday, Think Magazine has merged with The Stony Brook Press. Thinkr will also be transitioning in accordance with these changes - you might have noticed our URL has changed from thinkmag to sbpress. We're working on changing things like the theme, so be on the lookout for a redesign soon!
We're excited to maintain a Tumblr presence for the new Press, but we do have one problem: We have no idea what to call this thing. "Pressr" just doesn't have much of a ring to it. So we're opening it up to our followers: any ideas?
An Important Announcement from The Stony Brook Press and Think Magazine
The Stony Brook Press and Think Magazine are delighted to announce that we are coming together to form Stony Brook Universityâs leading media organization. The new Stony Brook Press will combine the Pressâs biweekly magazine with Thinkâs daily web site to create the most comprehensive media offering on campus. Our combined resources will allow us the flexibility to offer a broader range of content than ever before.
Click here to read the full statement.
We're still working out details, but if the new Press includes a Tumblr presence, we'll be sure to let you know! We hope you've enjoyed following us for the last several months.
A source with the University Police Department has confirmed that a fire broke out in the Earth and Space Sciences building late Monday night.
Think reporter Adam Peck was at the scene and stated that seven fire trucks and several UPD cars were present, but while smoke could be seen in the building, no flames were visible.
A firefighter on the scene stated that the fire occurred on the roof of the third floor of ESS and is under control as of 11:50, although firefighters are still visible on the roof of the building. No injuries have been reported.
Stay with Think for updates on the situation.
