Untitled/Lovingly referred to as Superhusbands
wah wah for Harri but also for everyone
It was two in the morning, and Remus and Sirius were lying on the grass, staring up at the sky. It was silent for the most part, with Sirius asking which star was what every now and then. Sirius was far too close and Remus was far too aware of his proximity, squirming away every so often only to find that Sirius kept getting closer like they were attached. After a while Remus just gave up and tried to savor his friend’s closeness; this may be as close as he could ever hope to be.
“Hey, Moony?”
“Hm?”
“D’ya reckon... Do you think there are gay superheroes?”
Remus laughed, sitting up. “What?”
“Well, you know,” Sirius replied, blushing, “there are so many superheroes, and -- er -- some of them have to be.”
Remus thought for a moment. “I’m sure there are. I mean, there’s that one. Northstar? He was gay.”
“Yeah?”
“And Wiccan and Hulkling, from the Young Avengers. They’re together.”
Sirius laughed. “When did you learn all this?”
“I happen to like comic books, thank-you-very-much,” Remus said, pushing the other boy. “Besides, it--it’s interesting.”
There were a few moments of silence after that, during which Remus tried very hard not to notice the way Sirius stared at him, and tried even harder not to stare back. Remus closed his eyes and thought about what he would be like if he were a superhero. Definitely not a werewolf. He’d be scar-less and handsome, less awkward, and more muscular. He’d be something that--something--someone Sirius would want. Or perhaps Sirius would be the superhero. He’s the one who always seems to save him, it seems. Yes. Sirius would be the superhero.
After a few more minutes, Sirius spoke. “What about Captain America and Iron Man?”
Remus opened his eyes. “What about them?”
“You think they’re together?”
“Hm,” Remus thought. “I could... I could see that, actually.”
Sirius nudged Remus, wrapping an arm around him. “There was that one issue where Tony was naked... and Steve rescued him. I bet they’re together.”
“Yeah,” Remus said. He shivered. “I reckon they are.”
“Superhusbands. That’s what they are.” Sirius’ arm tightened around Remus, almost instinctively, and he smiled.
Remus chuckled. “Superhusbands? I like it.”
“I used to wish for a superhero to come save me,” Sirius said. His arm fell from
around Remus and he curled in on himself, staring back at the sky. “I sat outside for a while before I went to James. I kept dreaming that someone like Superman would come fly in and take me somewhere better.” Sirius laughed. “But James will have to do. And you. You’re the closest thing to a superhero I’ve ever met.”
“I...” Remus began, but suddenly Sirius’ mouth was on his and he forgot what he was going to say and bloody hell he wasn’t ready for this but it was so nice.
“Moony?” Sirius whispered against his lips, “I don’t think I really need superheroes anymore.”
“Neither do I, Padfoot. Neither do I.”
And they didn’t.
