Chameleons don’t really use their color changing ability for camouflage. It’s more based on mood/communication.
Leon’s usual coloring, green and yellow, means relaxed. Bright vibrant colors can either mean angry and agressive or happy and excited. Dark colors, like brown and black, means they are either stressed or too cold.
Chameleons can see in color spectrums we can’t, so they are probably even more colorful then we can perceive. And since regular chameleons communicate with color, Leon’s species probably has an entire actual language of it. Like, with verb tenses and such.
This is based on the the snes Star Fox 2 game descriptions of Star Wolf, which was posted a while back by outofthisdimension, so credit to them for that.
Anyway, in Pigma’s description it said he had a “fiendish strength”. I looked up how strong pigs were and yup, they’re pretty strong. They can uproot small trees and toss a fourty gallon water trough like it’s nothing. Their strength is mostly in the shouders and neck, but they can kick hard too. They’re very dangerous animals.
Pigma is basically the team’s “tank”. You would not want to get bodyslammed by him.
Man these designs are weird to look at. They’re so different from the designs I’m used to, but technically they came first. I kinda like them tho.
While drawing Leon, I noticed his eye’s look like watermelons and now I can’t unsee it.
Also, Pigma’s nose is shaped more like an upside down heart than later iterations. I love the way he emotes with his ears, too. They just fly all over the place and it amuses me.
Not much to say about Wolf. Though this design look like it could be the father of the Wolf we’re familiar with.
Apearently, Algy is some kind of lemur... I think.. it’s not a bad design, but what he is isn’t immediately obvious. I had that same problem with Andrew in 64, oddly enough. “Why is there a demon wearing a bucket on Star Wolf?” 64 graphics... did not serve him well.
