She apologized for not saying goodbye... after all these years... we were just kids. I was hurt at the time but we were kids. I long for that friendship with her. I feel like I will either see her in a few weeks or not for 10 years...

Adèle: “The moment when I say 28… originally there was a justification behind it, which was “why 28? - “Because it’s my age", but we cut it. And that decision making on set allows the creation of a new mystery. Because suddenly there is no explanation to 28. I say…”

The message that I got from "portrait of a lady on fire" is that sometimes you can love people but you have to let them go because there is simply no way of being together. The beauty is in remembering each other and how the other made you feel. In allowing the other to move on.
