When she turned 15 she was sent to Afterlife to be trained. Eventually she was chosen to go through the process and gained her powers (hydrokenisis). After gaining control of them she figured out Jiaying had some less than pure intentions and ran away to New York, hoping to be lost in the city that never sleeps from their view. History has never been her strong suit. Too many names and dates for her to remember. She runs her fingers through her hair burying her her face in her arms.

Scarlett is studying a book, completely engrossed as she takes notes on a separate notebook. Her eyes read over each page quickly as she tries to take in all the information on the page. The library is quite at this time of night no sounds of people walking around most tucked safely in bed or quietly at home even though shes in the city that never sleeps most people don’t use the library this close to closing.

Open RP - Pride Month Special

It was June 28th, in the streets of Manhattan. The streets were filled with people of all genders, sexualities, and everything else. It's insanely colourful, full of people yelling and smiling as they display their pride flags with their clothes, hair, and signs, or just there to support friends, family, or in general!

It was the NYC Pride parade, and for the first time Dr Stephen Strange felt brave enough to go displaying his own bisexual pride in the form of a face painted flag, hand held ones he was floating beside him, and vaguely pink-purple-blue themed clothes (aside from his iconic red cloak).

He was by himself, not having asked anyone he knew if they were going or anything out of embarrassment. But he'd find out soon enough that he wasn't entirely alone...

Scarlett looks ahead of her glancing down at the ground for a split second. Usually she would be scared at this height on the buildings in New York but now she had gotten used to it in the first few weeks of learning to be a masked hero. Her eyes scan the horizon behind her mask and she jumps down into the alley next to her using water to slow her fall. Once she’s out of sight she pulls on a sweatshirt and sweatpants over her suit, flipping the hood down and putting the mask in the hoodie’s pocket. She walks out of the alley and in the direction of home.

New York has never been a safe place at night in many ways, and her senses alert at the feeling of another figure in the alley, sitting on a fire escape. She can’t make out much, just the flame of a cigarette lighter and the sheen of hair that a stray streetlight illuminates, the quiet radio from the window

Scarlett knows her face is not too recognizable among the many New Yorkers but errs on the side of caution and begins making her way towards the person on the fire escape.

“I hear you, you know,” the person says simply. The voice is feminine, somehow almost vintage in a way. But they don’t seem to know who she is. “Show yourself or don’t. It doesn’t matter to me”

”Who are you?” She asks slowly. After feeling the eyes she was seriously hoping this person hadn’t actually seen much, but knowing her luck she probably had, especially when Scarlett looked up at the spot she was sitting in.

“Just a neighbor. Rebecca.” The woman tilted her head, getting a better view. “You’re one of the spiders, right?”

She shakes her head. “No I have different powers, but the Ghost Spider suit is one of my favorites.”

The woman nods. “That’s fair. I wish I’d gotten a nicer suit”

“Hero too?” She asks.

“At first,” Becca answers cryptically, jumping down easily despite the fact that she’s at least two stories high over concretes “ever heard of Captain Carter?”

”I have. She’s from a place where Steve Rogers never became Captain America, right?”

“Yes. Where they traded places.”

Becca pauses. “In one of those universes, there was a different Sgt. Barnes who Peggy Carter gave a chance. And she became the Winter Soldier.”

”I’m guessing that’s you,” Scarlett says jumping down to join Becca on the concrete below.

“Yep.” Becca smiles a bit. “Freshly defrosted, and I still can’t use the phone they gave me”

”Well welcome to 2025. Sometimes it’s hell. Sometimes it’s great.” She says with a laugh.

Becca laughs with her, glad to laugh. “Isn’t that every world, though?”

She pauses. “So, you’re from here… what in gods name is a “Micky D’s?””

”Certainly is every world. McDonald’s it’s a fast food restaurant. Are you asking because you haven’t had it?” She bounces on the balls of her feet as she waits for an answer.

“More or less. I just see so many and don’t know what’s going on.. plus since I can’t use my stove or anything else really, I’d like to try some actual foods”

”Come on. I can bring you to get some food from McDonald’s. Then later I can teach you how to cook some basic meals,” she tells Becca. “I’m not going to let you survived on take out that’s expensive.”

Becca laughs softly. “It’s not that I can’t cook, I was raised in the forties. The issue is that I don’t know how on earth to turn on the stove they gave me”

”I can help with that too. My MawMaw used to not know how to use the timer on the stove we had at home.” she grins at Becca. “And my Grandpa just straight up barely knew how to use a phone when we lived with him. He wouldn’t accept any help.”

Once she’s out of sight she pulls on a sweatshirt and sweatpants over her suit, flipping the hood down and putting the mask in the hoodie’s pocket. She walks out of the alley and in the direction of home.

New York has never been a safe place at night in many ways, and her senses alert at the feeling of another figure in the alley, sitting on a fire escape. She can’t make out much, just the flame of a cigarette lighter and the sheen of hair that a stray streetlight illuminates, the quiet radio from the window

Scarlett knows her face is not too recognizable among the many New Yorkers but errs on the side of caution and begins making her way towards the person on the fire escape.

“I hear you, you know,” the person says simply. The voice is feminine, somehow almost vintage in a way. But they don’t seem to know who she is. “Show yourself or don’t. It doesn’t matter to me”

”Who are you?” She asks slowly. After feeling the eyes she was seriously hoping this person hadn’t actually seen much, but knowing her luck she probably had, especially when Scarlett looked up at the spot she was sitting in.

“Just a neighbor. Rebecca.” The woman tilted her head, getting a better view. “You’re one of the spiders, right?”

She shakes her head. “No I have different powers, but the Ghost Spider suit is one of my favorites.”

The woman nods. “That’s fair. I wish I’d gotten a nicer suit”

“Hero too?” She asks.

“At first,” Becca answers cryptically, jumping down easily despite the fact that she’s at least two stories high over concretes “ever heard of Captain Carter?”

”I have. She’s from a place where Steve Rogers never became Captain America, right?”

[the-second-sgt-barnes]

“Yes. Where they traded places.”

Becca pauses. “In one of those universes, there was a different Sgt. Barnes who Peggy Carter gave a chance. And she became the Winter Soldier.”

”I’m guessing that’s you,” Scarlett says jumping down to join Becca on the concrete below.
