Here is the Sydney-cat as of this afternoon, completely free of any mysterious swollen mass in her cheek since she is *not* dying. Last week's biopsy results came in giving her a clean bill of health. I appreciate all you folks out there who kept her in your thoughts. And I definitely appreciate all the caring, essential staff at @catsanddogsanimalhospital. This is the Sydney-cat. You may have met her. She may have tried to coax you with an adorable meow into giving her treats. She headbutted her way into my heart over 11 years ago. Now she's on her way out and I'm more heartbroken than I ever thought I'd be. 💔 After a few different exams by different vets, the verdict is that the mass in her left cheek is cancer -- weeks left at most. Any visits and/or positive vibes over those coming weeks are welcomed and appreciated. 🌌 I've had some bad times when I was not the bestest, kindest cat lady to this tough cookie. Suddenly confronted with her mortality, I deeply regret it. I've resolved to fill the rest of her days with the comfort and dignity she deserves. 🐾 It's still hard for me to wrap my head around the reality that she's... I will say that one silver lining to Safer at Home is the abundance at home I continue to discover hiding in plain sight. Halimbawa -- I've lived in this spot for the past couple years, but it was only a few minutes ago that I noticed this for the very first time. A thin slice of evening in which the setting sun bounces off my neighbor's window and lands at the core of my bookshelves, softly glowing just so. A lovely sight. At least, to me anyway. As I piece together my caption, the golden glimmer is already long gone and the shelves laid fully gray with growing dusk. Still, I'm intrigued at the possibility of spying the same fleeting light tomorrow. Now I know where and when to look.
