Hi and welcome! This probably goes without saying but I love One Piece! I'm caught up to both the anime and manga, and I'm always looking for new friends who want to yap about One Piece with me, so please don't hesitate to slide into my inbox/dm!!
One Piece also rekindled my love for writing, which is why I decided to start this blog. I mainly write "x reader" fics here, but I also write some character x character fics over on AO3. All of my works are SFW! Also, English is not my first language, so apologies in advance if there are any mistakes in my writing.

[ @jjuleslovely ] hi jules!!! thank you for the request and sorry this took so long 😭 this is such a cute combo of prompts and i really hope i did it justice! 😘
and to everyone reading this, merry christmas to those celebrating and happy holidays! hope you enjoy this little gift from me 🎄🎁
flufftober ⟢ fake relationship + first dance || sanji x reader
"May I have this dance, darling?"
Sanji outstretched his hand, palm up. A smile adorned his face — not his usual flirtatious grin, but one that was more subtle, shy.
Your heart thumped faster against your ribcage. As much as you would have loved to take up on his offer, it was hard to say yes immediately. You had never waltzed before in your life. What if you stepped on his toes? What if you tripped and brought him down with you? What if you embarrassed yourself in front of the one person you didn't want to embarrass yourself in front of?
Redness crept higher onto Sanji's cheeks the longer you hesitated. He stammered, "I-it's just… All the other couples are on the dance floor. I think we should join them. To blend in."
His words reminded you that you and Sanji were not here to have a nice evening together, but rather, you were only posing as a couple attending the ball to keep an eye on this island's Ruler and his guards. At this very moment, the rest of your crew was sneaking around the castle, looking for a Poneglyph rubbing that was allegedly hidden somewhere in the building.
"One dance," you relented to your desire, but quickly added, "So we don't blow our cover."
"That's the spirit." Sanji chuckled, leading you to the dance floor just as the orchestra was beginning a new song.
"May I?" He asked. You nodded, breath hitching when he placed his palm ever so gently on your waist.
You brought one hand to his shoulder, the other still gripping his tightly. "I don't know how to dance," you finally confessed in a rush.
"It's alright, just follow my lead."
The first notes of the strings echoed off the gilded dome, filling the ballroom with an enchanting melody. Sanji took a small step forward. You instinctively stepped back, naturally following his lead.
"There you go. Just like that." He smiled. "Now we step to the left."
He chuckled softly when you stumbled. "Your left, sweetheart."
"Sorry," you squeaked, face heating up, but he only squeezed your hand reassuringly.
"It's my fault for not being clear."
Sanji whispered more directions as he led you in a simple dance. Forward, left, back, right. Repeat.
By the time the song reached its halfway point, you were already used to the movement, swaying more confidently with Sanji in time to the music.
"You're a natural," he complimented. "You wanna try a spin for me?"
He lifted your joined hands above your heads, and you twirled giddily under his guidance. It might have been your imagination, but when you returned to his arms, it felt like he was holding you even closer than before.
The whiff of his cologne mixing with the scent of tobacco and spices that always seemed to cling to him was comforting, and for a moment, there was no mission. There were no fake names or statuses. There were no other people weaving and whirling around you. It was just you and Sanji, gazing into each other's eyes with matching smiles on your faces, feet moving in tandem.
"This is fun," you said.
He spun you once more. "We should do this more often, then."
Feeling bold, you inched closer and rested your head on his shoulder, "I'd love that."
At your proximity, Sanji sighed blissfully, desperately fighting the nosebleed that was inevitably coming. What a dream come true.
Alas, all dreams must come to an end, and this one came in the form of a blaring alarm from outside the building. You silently cursed your crewmates. Couldn't they have waited until the song was over, at least, before screwing up the plan?
You sighed. "Well, that's our cue, I guess."
"We'll continue this later, sweetheart." He winked, breaking out into a run towards the door to block the exit before the guards could rush out.
You laughed as you ran alongside him, content with the way his hand never let go of yours the whole time.
a/n: written as a gift for a dear friend! hope you enjoy this one, twin <3
flufftober ⟢ early morning walks || ace x reader
Two sets of footprints marked a trail on the damp sand — there for just a while until the next wave wiped them away, restoring the pristine state of the beach.
The cool water washed your bare feet. Paired with the chill of the morning breeze, it sent a shiver coursing through you.
Ace's hand was warm in yours. It always was.
"Cold?" He asked, scanning you up and down for any signs of discomfort.
You hummed, "A little bit."
Ace, meanwhile, looked completely unbothered despite his lack of clothing from the waist up. Backlit by the early sun, a radiant halo of deep orange surrounded him, a perfect fit for the fire wielder. He stopped walking, tugging on your hand gently, "Come here, then."
You sighed contentedly as his arms enveloped you. His body temperature slightly — but noticeably — rose, alerting you to his deliberate use of Devil Fruit powers to warm you up.
"Better?"
Foamy waves gently lapped at your feet, the coldness a contrast to the warmth of Ace's body flush against yours. Returning his embrace, you clung to him as you gazed at the open sea spread out behind him, "Much."
The Moby Dick was anchored offshore in deeper waters, too large to go further inland. You could barely spot Izou's pink, flowy yukata as he descended from the crow's nest, freshly off his night watch. The deck was slowly filling up as more and more people woke, already starting preparations to cast off from the island.
Pops had wanted to leave immediately last night, having finished his business, but Marco wisely convinced him to wait till morning light. Ace swiftly grabbed the opportunity to ask you out for one last walk around the beach before leaving — "Who knows when, or if, we'll be back here again?" — so the two of you took his Striker and snuck off the ship just before dawn, back to the island. The subsequent sunrise that you witnessed made waking up at an unholy hour worth it.
You pulled back and released Ace from the hug, but not before landing a soft kiss on his freckled cheek. The pair of footsteps trailed once more upon the untouched sand.
"The other division commanders are probably pissed that you're not there for the final checks before we sail off." You quipped, glancing at the sun that was crawling ever higher into the sky.
"You're right. We should probably start heading back, huh?" Ace sighed and finally U-turned, stringing you along, back towards the way you came.
The Whitebeard Pirates were a lovely bunch, but also a very rowdy one. Quiet, private moments with Ace like this were rare to come by, and oh, how you treasured them. The spot where the Striker was parked was still a distance away, and your joint pace subconsciously slowed, neither of you wanting to reach it just yet.
Swinging your linked hands giddily, Ace grinned. "This is nice,"
"It is." You chuckled, giving his hand a light squeeze. "Will you take me on another walk like this on the next island?"
"I'd take you every day if you like."
"Not every day." You bumped his shoulder teasingly, "I'd still like to wake up after the sun rises once in a while."
The walk back to the Striker felt shorter than you remembered, time passing by quickly amid chatters about anything and everything in between. And before you knew it, Ace was pushing the Striker off the sandy beach and into the water.
He offered you his hand, pulling you up into the supposedly one-man vessel. One arm wrapped securely around your waist, the other bracing against the mast, Ace whispered, "Ready?"
You snaked your arms around his bare torso and nodded. Ace lit his fire, careful not to let it lick your feet, and off the Striker went, zooming towards the Moby Dick.
The salty sprays of the ocean misted upon your face, the brisk wind tickled your hair, and you snuggled closer to your lover. It was a short ride back, but you cherished every second, committing the serene moment to memory before the welcome clamor of the ship took over your days once more.
#11 with Ace, maybe about a bet and the reward a kiss 🥺
my lovely smol flower! thank you for the request <3 i had a lot of fun writing this and it ended up being way above the word limit i set for myself for this event 😂 i really hope you enjoy this story!! 🥺
flufftober ⟢ "double or nothing?" || ace x reader
“I bet those magic mushrooms Marco’s looking for are up there on those hills.”
“Oh, yeah? I don’t think so." You playfully punched your best friend's arm, "And for the last time, Ace, it’s not a magic mushroom. It’s a medicinal plant, and I bet they grow down there, near the river.”
“And if you’re wrong?”
“C’mon, Ace.” You chuckled, “You know better than to bet against me. You’ve never won once!”
“Well, who knows?" He shrugged, grinning cheekily, "Maybe today’s the day!”
“And what do you want if you win, hmm?"
You knew it was a redundant question. You and Ace bet on everything — from old-fashioned card games to silly little guesses like what Thatch would serve for dinner. And every time, without fail, he would request for one thing only as his prize. Not that he ever won it.
He stepped towards you, his fingers slightly tipping your chin upward. Wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, he cooed, “I want a kiss.”
Your heart stuttered, as it always did whenever he declared his chosen reward. “You’re relentless, aren’t you?”
"Hey, you can't blame a guy for trying." He said with a smirk.
"Alright, then." You poked your index finger right on his bare chest, "And if I win, you're doing my dishwashing duties for a week."
"Only a week? You're being generous today." He teased. “Meet you back here around noon? Should be enough time to circle the area.”
As you go your separate ways, left only with the company of the still forest, your mind wandered to the man you considered your closest friend. It would be a lie if you said you never thought of him as something more, but everything was always a gamble with Ace. Most of the time, it was impossible to tell whether he was serious, or merely playful about his advances towards you.
Distracted by the noise in your head, noon came swiftly with nothing to show for your mediocre efforts.
Ace was already there when you returned — seated on the ground, his back against a tree trunk, and his hat covering his face. Fast asleep. A pile of mushrooms, exactly like the drawing Marco showed you and Ace before he sent you two off on this hunt, was resting right next to him.
“Wake up, idiot.” You crouched to place his hat back upon his head. “You won.”
Ace's eyes slowly opened, bleary at first, but instantly alert — pupils dilating — once he noticed you. He grinned, “I told you today’s the day.”
You cautiously sat beside him, quietly fidgeting with your trembling hands before finally saying, "Well, go on, then.” You turned to face him, only to find him already looking at you. Leaning in slightly, as if pulled by an invisible string, you breathed out, “Get your kiss.”
Ace’s gaze flitted down to your lips, staying there for a second before returning to your eyes. The rhythm of your heart went awry as he inched closer and closer. Your eyelids were fluttering shut when, rather abruptly, Ace pulled back.
“Double or nothing?”
“W-What?” You spluttered, face burning.
Ace cleared his throat, "There's another herb Marco wanted us to find, right? Those little leaves shaped like hearts. I bet I can collect more than you within 30 minutes.” He patted your cheek, "And because I'm a gentleman, if you win, I'll even still honor your wish instead of you just owing me nothing."
Confusion turned to embarrassment, then frustration, and you shot to your feet.
"Fine! Double the bet, for all I care." You snapped, storming off towards the trees without another word.
Damn him for playing with your feelings like that.
You resisted an urge to scream as you trudged deeper into the forest, your trampling footsteps scaring a few rabbits along the way.
The heart-shaped herb was not a challenge to find at all. Unlike the mushrooms, they seemed to grow everywhere on this island. You furiously, but carefully — Marco would've scolded you if you were reckless with the plants — plucked as many as you could.
You stomped all the way back to the meeting spot with a few minutes to spare, but again, Ace was already waiting for you.
His lips curled upwards when he saw your bag full of the herb, but the smile didn't quite reach his eyes. He showed you his empty hands. "I circled my side of the forest twice but couldn’t find those blasted plants anywhere.”
Liar.
“Why?” You demanded.
“Why what?”
“You won the first bet. Why didn’t you just… You know…" Heat rushed to your cheeks, “Claim your reward?”
"Well," Ace chuckled humorlessly, eyes soft as he slowly confessed, "That’s because when— if we kissed, I want it to be because you wanted it. Not because you lost some stupid bet.”
Birds chirped brightly from the branches above, blissfully unaware of the tension thickening the air between you.
“So!” Ace suddenly clapped his hands together and took a deep breath. “Two weeks of taking over your dishwashing duties, is it? Not too bad, could be worse.”
“Wait,” you cut, cursing yourself for how shaky your voice was, “I change my mind.”
“That’s not how bets work, sweetie. You can’t just change your—”
“A kiss.”
Ace's breath hitched, “What?”
“I want a kiss as my reward.” You stepped closer to him — fists clenched, chin up. “Two kisses, actually, since we doubled the bet.”
His eyes shifted as he scratched the back of his reddening neck, "You don't hav—"
“Ace.” You caught his gaze, letting him see how sincere you were, “Do you know how many times I secretly wished I'd lost our bets?”
“Y-you did?”
A smile made its way onto your face at the way Ace's eyes shone with hope. “It’s a miracle how you couldn't manage to win even a single bet until today.”
“Hey!”
You laughed and pulled him in by the strap of his hat, your chest bumping his, “C’mere,”
Gently, unhurriedly, you pressed your lips against his. His lips carried a warmth that coursed through you, and already, you were craving for more. You pulled back just a touch, your rapid breaths mingling with his as you said, “That’s one.”
You didn't know who leaned in for the second kiss, but before you knew it, Ace had you pressed against a tree, lips hungrily devouring yours as if he had waited years for this. He probably had.
You had lost your grip on your bag at some point, the strings untying as it slammed into the ground, sending green hearts flying like confetti as you returned the kiss with as much fervor, savoring the heat emanating from his body as your arms wrapped around his neck. His palms burned deliciously as they settled on your waist, his lips never leaving yours aside from a sharp intake of breath to refill his lungs with oxygen.
Hearts raced in tandem as the kiss deepened, filled with an eternity of longing and words unsaid.
The passionate kisses eventually made way for shorter, sweeter ones, but neither of you had the willpower to move away from the other just yet.
“I bet Marco’s gonna be mad that we took so long,” Ace finally said, still sneaking in light pecks between words.
“Oh, we don’t need to bet on that.” You smiled, nuzzling his freckled cheek, “I know he'll be furious.”
“Then it wouldn’t be much of a difference if we take a few more minutes, right?”
Laughing freely, you gladly claimed his lips again,
alsoooo honorable mention to them, idk if i want to be their third or if i want them to be my parents

flufftober ⟢ only one bed || law x reader
“Don't be a stubborn ass and get in here, Captain." You glared in his general direction and added, "Or should I say, Husband?"
Trafalgar Law only huffed from where he was lying on the bare tatami floors, a few meters away from your warm and cozy futon.
Being undercover as a married couple was not what you expected when your Captain chose you as one of the few crew members he brought ashore to Wano. Still, Kin'emon had a point when he said that a stranger like Law would likely draw more attention if he were strutting along the Flower Capital by himself, not to mention digging for information.
Which led you here — on a "honeymoon" with your new "husband" and trying to get him to sleep with you. Literally.
"Admit it, you're cold."
"I'm not."
"It's freezing tonight, Law, and I know you don't like being cold."
The rare sound of his first name coming out of your mouth made the doctor twitch, his heart traitorously skipping a beat.
"I'm fine." He sputtered. "Just sleep."
Sighing, you stared at the crisscrossing wooden beams lining the ceiling. The stillness of the night left much room for overthinking, and before you could stop yourself, the words rolled off your tongue and into the darkness. "Do you really hate the idea of sleeping in the same bed with me that much?"
"What?" Law propped himself up on his elbow, finally turning to face you for the first time since the lights went out, "No, don't be ridiculous. It's not like that."
"Then why won't you just share the blanket?"
Another sigh left your lips at the Captain’s stubborn silence.
"Fine, have it your way." You turned to your side, your back to Law, and wrapped the blanket tighter around you.
You were halfway to drifting off when a hushed whisper brought you back to awakeness.
"It's not that I don't want to share the bed with you. It's just..." Law cursed under his breath. Voice low, he hesitantly admitted, "I don't want to take advantage of the situation. It would be selfish of me. And unfair to you."
"Take advantage of the situation? What's that supposed to mean?" You chuckled awkwardly, not quite processing his words amid your drowsiness, "It's not as if you were dying to get in my…"
You bolted upright, glancing at your Captain who was refusing to even look at your direction.
"Oh."
Again, Law chose to stay quiet, but the hand that instinctively covered his face betrayed his feelings. You were sure that a beautiful shade of red was tinting his cheeks, despite it not being noticeable in the dimness of the room.
A slow smile started forming on your face, accompanied by the quickening beat of your heart.
"Well,” You mused at last. “What makes you think it's not me who's taking advantage of the situation, hmm?"
He sighed out your name softly, "Don't joke about this."
"I'm not!" You said resolutely, before blurting out, "I do want you in my bed, Law."
A second passed. Then two.
"Wait!” You squealed, “That came out wrong! I didn't mean it like that, I just—"
The tension all but melted when Law let out a laugh — full and boisterous, but shaky with nerves. You groaned and laid back down, pulling the blanket all the way up to bury yourself in shame.
Fabric shuffled against the tightly woven straw of the floorings, and suddenly, you felt him gently take the edge of the blanket away from your fingers.
He peeked inside, smiling softly, "Is it okay if we share the futon?"
"Yeah," you squeaked, your voice an octave higher than usual.
Carefully, Law slipped underneath the blanket. He tried to keep a respectful distance, but the futon didn’t have much room to begin with. Shoulders touching, you laid side by side, albeit rather stiffly. The warmth of his body next to you was almost too much for your poor heart to handle, and you feared that Law could hear the thunderous drumming coming from your chest.
"Good night."
"Good night, Captain."
Heart pounding, face burning, and much too aware of the other's presence, it was safe to say that neither of you had a good rest.
You both had to admit, however, that it was indeed a good night.
hello rin! i hope you’re having a great day :) i saw your flufftober post and am so excited to read your stories! can i request zoro x reader, prompt 25 (cold hands)? thank you so much! 🫶

flufftober ⟢ cold hands + lost together || zoro x reader
The crunch of fresh snow underneath the two pairs of boots felt too loud in the dark, empty street.
The buildings around you were unfamiliar, which is to be expected when exploring a new island. What you didn't expect was to get so lost that you could not, for the life of you, find the coast where the Sunny was docked.
You opened your clenched fists and stretched out your frigid fingers. Each hand then took a turn massaging the other, desperately trying to keep the blood flowing amid the low temperature.
Beside you, the green-haired man looked as unaffected as ever despite only wearing a T-shirt underneath his rather thin jacket. That haramaki of his sure looked cozy, though.
Zoro glanced at your shivering self and frowned. Softly, he said, "Sorry."
"What?"
"Sorry." He repeated, raising his voice above the howling wind, "I got us lost."
"Hey, 's not your fault. We got lost together." You folded your arms, tucking your hands in. "Besides, the cold's not that bad,"
Zoro scoffed at the way your teeth chattered with every word, not believing you one bit. He stepped in front of you, then, out of the blue, started furiously rubbing his palms together.
You stopped in your tracks, an amused smile blooming on your lips, "What are you doing?"
After a few more seconds, he said, "Give me your hands."
The rhythm of your heart quickened as he took your hands in his much larger ones.
"Oh," you gasped as the warmth from his palms flowed to your skin, gradually bringing feelings back to your fingers, "That feels nice."
Zoro brought his hands — still enclosing yours — towards his face. Lips open, he gently breathed out warm air over your hands. "Better?"
"Much."
Zoro's eye was fixed on your hands, but you could've sworn his cheeks were getting pinker by the second. It was probably just the cold.
"Thanks, Zoro." Reluctantly, you started tugging your hands away, but to your surprise, his grip only tightened.
He stayed still for a few moments until finally, he stepped to your side, letting go of one hand, but firmly keeping your other in his. He interlocked your fingers and shoved your joined hands into the pocket of his jacket.
“To keep it warm.” He mumbled.
Despite the chill, your face grew hotter and hotter. Your heart danced as the swordsman started to walk again, pulling you forward with him.
With the snow crunching underneath your boots once more, you smiled.
Maybe it wouldn't be so bad after all if you stayed lost for a little while longer.

flufftober ⟢ "stay?" || luffy x sanji
⟢ read on ao3
Sanji rose with the sun.
The moment a sliver of light appeared on the horizon, the cook would be up and awake, a to-do list for breakfast prep already occupying his mind. It was a habit honed since childhood — stemming from his days at the Orbit, all the way to the Baratie.
On the other side of the bed, Luffy rose… whenever he felt like it. On some days, like most of the crew, he woke to the melodies of Brook's violin. Most days, he completely slept through it, but woke exactly as the breakfast plates hit the table.
On rare occasions like today, Luffy woke just minutes after Sanji.
The captain's quarters was still dim — the early sun rays not quite penetrating the curtains just yet — but Luffy's bleary eyes could make out the cook's lithe form, facing the mirror off the side of their bed.
"Sanji," he whined, dragging out the vowels. "Come back here."
Gaze trained on his reflection, Sanji continued to button up his crisply ironed shirt. "Can't. I have to prepare breakfast."
But, of course, Sanji rarely ever had much of a choice when it came to Luffy.
A rubbery arm stretched out and looped itself around Sanji's slim waist. Before a single protest could escape his lips, Sanji was catapulted back into the mattress, crashing with a grunt into Luffy's warm chest. The Captain snaked his other arm around his lover, trapping him to his side.
"Oi, Luffy. I need to start on breakfast." Half-heartedly, Sanji tried to wriggle out of the crisscrossing limbs. "C'mon, let go."
"Don't wanna." Luffy mumbled.
"You're wrinkling my shirt."
Luffy only nuzzled Sanji's neck in response. Goosebumps crawled all over Sanji's skin when Luffy's breath brushed the sensitive spot just behind his ear.
With ease, Luffy turned Sanji to face him.
"Please, Sanji?" The younger man pouted, "Stay?"
Damn those pretty round eyes.
Sanji sighed, "Five minutes."
"Ten!"
"Five." The cook insisted. "Unless you just want cereal and no meat for breakfast."
"Eight?"
"Four and a half minutes," Sanji made a show of tapping his watch, "And counting."
"Ugh, fine." Luffy yielded, resting his head against Sanji's chest.
Sanji leaned down and dropped a kiss right on top of Luffy's head, which, admittedly, he only did because the Captain actually joined him in the baths last night. "Now, go back to sleep, will you?"
Slender fingers lazily combed through jet black hair, and before long, soft snores echoed in the quiet room.
And if Sanji stayed for a few more minutes than the five he promised, Luffy would never know.
this isn't a flufftober request but i saw in your pinned post you know some japanese/you translate stuff occasionally and i was wondering what your tips were for learning the language?
hi anon, thanks for the question!! my answer ended up being pretty long lol, but i hope it can be useful for you!
(if there’s any other japanese-learners reading this, please drop your tips in the replies/reblogs too so we can all learn from each other <3)
first of all, a disclaimer: i was not a self-learner in japanese, so if you are, please take my tips with a grain of salt 😂
a little chibinasuu lore drop — i was lucky enough to study abroad in japan for my bachelor’s, and even though my classes were all in english, international students in my uni had to take mandatory intensive japanese language courses in our first year, so that was how i was able to learn japanese pretty quickly! plus, living in japan left me with no choice but to use the language every single day, which really helped me get used to speaking and understanding it better.
i don’t know your current japanese level, but when i just started out, i found that the textbooks i used in class were a great help with understanding the basic rules and structures of the language. preparing for the JLPT (japanese-language proficiency test) was also a huuuuge part in me learning various grammar and kanji.
but of course, textbook japanese and conversational japanese are quite different, so my tip once you grasped the basics is to immerse yourself in the language as much as possible! this could be difficult if you live outside of japan, but i think consuming japanese media is a great way to do that as well.
and by japanese media, i don’t mean just manga and anime, because some of the language used there can be quite different with what you might encounter in real-life. i’m talking youtubers, vloggers, podcast, social media content. they're a really great way to study pronunciation, tone and inflections, casual expressions and slangs. i like travel vlogs, cause that’s where my interest is, but nowadays you can pretty much find content creators for any niche, so find ones that fit your interests!
as you're on my blog, i think it's okay to assume that you’re a one piece fan? 😂 i sometimes also watch one piece chapter reviews by japanese youtubers. the “仲間がいるよTube” program on the official one piece youtube channel is also really great. they release weekly videos on all things one piece, and they’re quite fun to watch!
and don’t get me wrong, manga and anime are still great ways to learn japanese. i often rewatch anime episodes without subtitles, which is great to practice your listening skills. if you couldn’t understand certain words/sentences, it’s very easy to just rewind and put the subtitles back on for a few seconds. i also like reading manga in japanese to improve my vocabulary. i usually open the original and the english translation side-by-side so i can switch back and forth if there’s anything i don’t understand.
i think reading manga is great compared to books/novels cause there are visuals and context clues. some mangas, like shonen jump ones, also have furigana readings next to the kanji, so they’re easier to read. novels, on the other hand, are very kanji-heavy and it can take a long time to read, but i’d suggest giving them a shot if you’re a more advanced learner. there are a lot of fanfics written in japanese over at pixiv too, if that’s more up your alley. for reading online, i use a chrome extension called rikaikun, a very useful hover dictionary tool that can give you instant translation and the readings of kanji in japanese texts.
and finally, my kinda unhinged but very effective tip: think and talk to yourself in japanese instead of english/your native language. heck, pretend you’re in a podcast and talk to yourself about your day — what you did, places you visited, how you felt, what you ate, who you met. just try to incorporate japanese into your daily life, and you’ll get used to speaking it in no time!
all in all, i'd have to admit that japanese is a difficult language. it took me years to learn, and even now i’m still learning new things everyday. but it’s also a beautifully complex and nuanced language, and a very fun one to learn, so don’t get discouraged and just keep going!
i'm wishing you all the best in your learning journey anon!! i hope this was at least a little bit helpful for you, and feel free to message me if you want to talk more about learning japanese!
You asked the samurai-turned-pirate, resting your elbows on the railings of Cat Viper's ship.
"Wano."
Izou took his eyes off the horizon to glance at you when the name of his hometown slipped from your lips.
He stilled, as always weighing his words carefully before he answered.
"From what I've heard, the Wano of today had… changed quite a lot since I left." He chewed his painted lip in a rare display of anxiety, "I guess we'll find out soon enough."
You reached out and took one of his hands in both of yours. "Tell me about the Wano you remember?”
A hush fell over the two of you, save for the sound of the waves breaking against the hull. Moments passed before Izou finally decided to speak again, his voice barely above a whisper.
"It was a beautiful country. Lush forests, pristine rivers, air so fresh you could get drunk on it." His smile carried a hint of sadness when he continued, "The snowy hills of Ringo weren't very kind to me and my sister when we were young, but even I couldn't deny their beauty."
Izou never shared much about his childhood or his hometown, so you leaned in, clinging to his every word. You couldn't help but notice how the longing in his eyes for the home he left so many years ago grew ever so stronger as the ship inched closer to Wano.
Once Izou started talking, he found it surprisingly difficult to stop. He talked about his days with Oden and his band of retainers in Kuri, about the stunning fireworks launched to the skies every summer, about the countless delicacies that "you simply must try".
The way his face lit up when he talked about the Harvest Moon Festival — which he claimed was his and his sister's favorite night of the year — was unlike any expression he had ever shown you before.
"Marco and I talked all the time about returning to Wano ever since we learned about Oden's death. Pops never let us go."
You squeezed his hand gently, hoping to offer him some comfort, but the long-haired man just sighed. "I know he was right. Back then, it wasn't the time yet to retake Wano. But now is our chance.”
“Our allies are strong." You reassured him. "We'll defeat Kaido, and help your hometown flourish again the way it used to."
With a nudge to his shoulder, you added, "And then you have to take me to that moon festival you loved so much."
The corners of Izou's lips turned up, just a touch. "That sounds nice."
"Oi, you two!" Cat Viper's shout interrupted you, booming from the opposite end of the ship. "We need to secure the rigging! We'll reach the waterfalls soon."
You took a deep breath, pushing away from the railing and turning your body to face the gunslinging samurai.
"You ready to come home?"
Izou held your gaze, and with his eyes, he silently told you how grateful he was that you decided to come with him — to stay by his side — despite the dangers awaiting you all at Wano.
He smiled, and brought the back of your hand up to his lips.
"As ready as I'll ever be."
a/n: this one's not a request but i wanted to write something for izou's birthday (i'm a day late but shhhhh pretend i uploaded this on time)
