Irina’s lips twitched as she was in thought about a lot of things; “I will forever have a grudge against Beau, I hate that I do but something just does not seem right” and even though Irina worked and factualized everything with evidence she didn’t exactly ignore her gut instinct either; “The way Elena protected him the last time I tried to interview him just seemed super suspicious to me” and even though she would love to open that can of worms, the fact of the matter was that she had a lot on her plate right now.
“Unless he makes it out like we did know, there are ways in the law and in a court room where evidence can be falsified-… I’ve seen it time and time again with cases” She explained to him; “I had to be present in a court room once to give my own take on this homicide I was working on but it ended up falling through the cracks because of inauthentic pieces of evidence” which wasn’t abnormal when someone wanted to win; “It’s cute for someone in High School” smirking at him so he knew she was being playful; “I think I do” admitting that she saw him as something more official; “Do you want to be my boyfriend Brett?”
Brett didn’t trust a lot of people around Redwood if he wasn’t close with them. The dark-haired boy didn’t know people enough to make a good judge of their character. Some people tried to mind their own business and people like Beau didn’t. He was selling or stealing and didn’t have a good track record for himself. It was easy to point fingers at someone who had made a name for themselves. “Is this Elena chick his girlfriend?” Brett asked, not familiar with everyone in the town. “I mean if they are, I could understand it. I’d back you if you did right or wrong.” He shrugged.
The dark-haired boy playfully nudged Irina once she said that ‘baby girl’ was cute when it was high schoolers were using the endearing term. He wrapped his arms around her shoulder and nodded his head once she asked if he wanted to be her boyfriend. “Of course I do,” he answered, as a genuine grin spread across his lips. “You know there is a big place in my heart for you, and I don’t see you as just a friend. I haven’t in the longest time.” He confessed. Brett tilted Irina’s face towards him and stole a single peck, knowing that Irina wasn’t one for a public display of affection or things being over the top. “Being called your boyfriend is nice. Did you see my face earlier when you said it? My heart was hammering so hard against my chest.”
