the library in town
°°••….••°°
upon his relief to stumble across the library, milo was quick to establish himself among the books & devices, making himself at home among the shelves & acquainting himself with the different sections. now, a few days into the “job” - which, really, was just milo existing in his natural element - the cartographer had grown familiar with the building, and had began the task of organizing the history section. it was bare & held little information on the town itself, but included great, rich stories of worlds he’d never heard of - worlds, he wondered if they even existed. up top a small foot ladder to reach the highest shelf, working diligently through the rows, milo heard a slight scuffle under him, and glanced down with a smile to the newest patron to visit the library. “oh, hello!” he greeted in a chipper tone. “was there something i could help you find?”
jiang wasn’t really sure how she ended up in this strange world, the last thing she remembers is watching 4town perform with her mother and her aunts, it felt weird not being with them anymore. looking around her surroundings, she could already feel herself going into her red panda mode due to anxiety and the fact that she’ll probably never be able to go home by herself. it didn’t take long for the brunette to find an open bathroom stall to hide in, something she had learned from her mother when she was around her age, hoping to god that she’d go back to normal soon. just as she started meditating in order to try and go back to her regular form, she heard a knock on the stall door and panicked slightly. “this stall’s ocupado, GET ANOTHER ONE!” she raised her voice slightly, a symptom of being in her panda form. @scatteredstart

“– are you kidding me right now… you don’t have primordial ooze either?” kendall sighed his frustration out in a huff, staring blankly at the board of drinks that were available, and frowning at every option listed. “what i would do for a can of red right now… alright, fuck it. i’ll try a-” squinting now, kendall pointed vaguely to the iced drink section of the board. “whatever the chai thing is, i’ll take it. is it caffeinated? i want extra of the caffeine part. oh, and please. thank you,” he forced a small smile, stepping back from the line once the order was placed, and looked to the nearest. “what the hell did i just order?”
lichang’s hands expertly braided the cords together into intricate shapes as he sat at the table, the knot becoming something akin to a small flower. he heard the chair in front of him shift, a small smile coming to his lips. “i was wondering when you’d show up. but, i could have my timing all wrong,” he said. without the reminders from other servants, it was hard for him to keep track what hour it was. he reached out for their hand, taking it into his own before placing the knot into their palm. “i thought you deserved a small bit of luck as a thank you for coming. but, it was made by me, so one can only guess how lucky it can really be,” he teased, a quiet chuckle escaping him. @scatteredstart
@scatteredstart As much as Vas enjoyed scoping out the more innocent citizens at the cantina, she also had caught wind of another place to get a drink in town. One with a much more…interesting crowd to say the least. As a result, she decided to go check out Fangtasia. However, when she was presented with a cocktail menu at the burlesque club’s bar, the brunette felt a bit puzzled. The tavern in the sleepy little village her father’s mountain overlooked had very few options for drinks, and none of them were as creative as the ones presented on the menu. Spotting someone next to her, she turned towards them, figuring that maybe they would be able to give a good recommendation. “Good evening.” She greeted, tilting her head to the side and innocently blinking up at them through her long lashes. “What are you planning on ordering?”
location: the abandoned airport outside of journey’s plane.

fairly loud upbeat eighties pop music could be heard reverberating from one of the planes in the abandoned airport, a woman humming along with the now familiar melodies. she had spent all day working hard to spruce up her newfound home with some decorations she had gotten from one of the shops on main street. while it certainly wasn’t the ship that she had once called home, she was trying to make the best out of an uncontrollable situation. in her mind, that was all she could ever do — especially since most of the things in her life felt out of control as of late. she had just finished decorating the outside of the plane with a few flower decals when she heard the sound of footsteps echoing behind her. a bright smile spread across her lips as she turned around to face them, “hey!” she happily greeted the other, thankful for the much-needed company. “what are the chances you wanna check out my new pad? it’s got twinkly lights up inside and everything!”
cahil was beyond on edge the moment he appeared in town, the lack of any sort of residual memories or feelings in the empty homes only making him all the more nervous. however, he did end up touching one of the other resident’s belongings at the cantina, and with it came a wave of dizzying emotions. it’d been completely on accident and he couldn’t discern any particular emotions or memories within the wave – leaving him out of breath and overwhelmed. he brought himself outside, sitting on the sidewalk with his head in his hands as he attempted to use the night air to steady himself. he felt someone come close, quickly flinching away from them in case they were tempted to touch him. “ah, sorry. i’m alright. i’m sorry if i’m in the way – i’m just… i’m just not feeling well.” it was clear with how shaky his voice was. “i just need a moment or five,” he said with a weak laugh. @scatteredstart

it was a coveted night off from the drive-in, and a weekend at that – not that, in this little town, that mattered much. either way, elvis had found themself seated firmly at the bar of the cantina, comfortable in places full of loud chatter & unfamiliar faces. “two more mojitos, please!” they called to the bar tender, finishing up one small glass and smacking their lips in satisfaction, the taste of salt && lime still reminiscent along the chapped cracks. “and whatever my friend here is having, on me,” they smiled at the newcomer having just walked up to the bar, drumming their hands against the countertop before extending one to shake formally, grin well in place. “elvis krixen, at your service. hope you were in the business of a drinking partner for the evening, because i claim that space.”

to any average passerby it may have looked like a fairly odd scene. emily laid out on her stomach, in front of a tiny daisy which blossomed out of the ground. gently caressing the flowers petals, the young woman proceeded to have a conversation with the plant. “ hello there, what’s your name? “ she asked. after a pause she let out a surprised little oh, “ you don’t? “ she asked, as if the plant had replied. “ well we must change that then, “ lifting he blue eyes up from the plant she looked over to the only other person who was nearby. “ excuse me, “ she called them over, never once getting up from her spot off the ground. “ but this flower seems to not have a name… what exactly would you call it? “ she asked curiously.

a low sigh escaped adair as he did his best to even out his annoyance. he was simply trying to read in the local library considering it was the closest thing to the mansion’s own library that he could get. but, someone coming close in the corner of his eye pulled him from the pages of the novel he was currently digesting. “if i get one more question or concern in relation to where we are, how to get home, or if i am familiar to this place, i will find way to meet my end once more despite it being impossible. so, if it isn’t anything like that, how may i be of service to you?” he asked, looking over at them with a rather unamused, tired look.
oddie was keeping mostly to themselves, enjoying the invigoratingly warm coffee they’d ordered – who knew that food and drink could be so enjoyable! but, that would explain why humans loved them so much. they were mostly people watching when they noticed someone wince in pain, or what they suspected was pain. and, though it wasn’t any of their business, they could help but reach out in case it was something they could help with. they mentally prepared themselves for rejection regardless. “um, excuse me,” they said softly, clearing their throat slightly. words were so strange to use when they weren’t the ones they were pre-programmed to use. “are you alright? you seem a bit uncomfortable. if you’re hurt, i could look over the issue if you’d like. i would like to think i’m quite good at dealing with such issues,” they offered, gently eager. @scatteredstart

panic wasn’t one of the various emotions that mara experienced when they realized they had suddenly been transported to some unknown place. confusion? yes. but after the initial shock and disbelief, their emotions shifted toward relief. she had found herself longing for some sort of escape and this seemed to be the closest thing she would ever get to such. she wasn’t entirely sure how long they were going to be stuck here, so they fully intended to enjoy themselves while she could. she had brought a blanket that she found in one of the stores along with a sketchbook to the park in town, enjoying the feeling of sunshine warming their skin. her lips pursed in concentration as the pencil moved freely across the page, doing a quick sketch of the main street in the distance. though mara’s attention was drawn away as a shadow clouded some of the light. a sigh of exasperation escaped them, not bothering to look up at the other. “is there something you need or are you just an asshole? i know i’m pretty, but there’s no reason to stand there and stare.”

toby was used to finding himself in rather sticky situations before ( trouble came about as naturally to the young prince as breathing ) but even this was new for him. one moment he was on the outskirts of corona, atop his mare luna’s, back, and the next, he was somewhere entirely different. The dark-haired prince wasted no time using his unusual circumstances as a chance to explore his new surroundings, wandering through town until he ultimately found himself in the woods right on the outskirts of town. while wandering amongst the trees, the young prince heard a pair of footsteps echo from behind him instantly putting toby on high alert. his mother had always wandered him and his siblings about kidnappers, and until then the thought of one sneaking up behind him had never even crossed mind. without any hesitation toby spun around to meet the face of the person behind him his heart leaping out of his chest as he turned to face them. luckily, they didn’t look like a kidnapper, in fact they looked just as lost as he did. easing up a little toby shook his head in response.
“ hey, warn someone before sneaking up on them would you? “ he replied, a playfulness sneaking into his tone.
wilhelm took in a deep breath, not expecting to find himself in such a place. had a spell gone wrong? he’d been getting too greedy with the spells he was trying to perfect lately, so it could have been entirely possible that he’d made a mistake during the process. but, this place was in no way recognisable. he quickly decided that blending in and acting as aloof as possible would save his skin before he could make a more well-thought out move. he decided he would try to perform a spell by memory – whether or not he would be able to accurately recall the steps were to be seen – and needed a few ingredients. “you’re not entirely fond of your hair, are you?” he asked, his face deadpan but his tone hinting to something a bit more devious. “hair always grows back, so it wouldn’t be an entire loss for you to lose just a lock of it. perhaps a haircut would better suit you,” he suggested. @scatteredstart
