Fellow white people did you know there's this cool youtube hack where you go out of your way to watch videos made by Black people. And suddenly your video recommendations will have loads of cool new channels. And then you realise youtube was literally hiding videos made by Black people from you because they assumed you wouldn't be interested
things that don't make you human:
empathy
love
intelligence
romance
friendship
art
things that do make you human:
belonging to the species Homo sapiens
defining humanity by the things we do or feel rather than what we are is always going to exclude someone. maybe someone you care about. not all humans love, not all humans have or want partners or friends, not all humans are nice, not all humans feel empathy or remorse, not all humans make art, not all humans will make sense to you. they're still human. they're still human. they're still human.
(and if they're not human? they're not! (this post is inclusive to alterhuman and otherwise non-human beings!!!!!!!))
Cognitively disabled people deserve gender access to affirming care.
Psychiatrically disabled people deserve access to gender affirming care.
Physically disabled people deserve access to gender affirming care.
Being disabled doesn't erase the possibility of being trans, having dysphoria and/or wanting to pursue a medical transition.
i work at a homeless shelter with a lot of people whom one might consider highly impaired by mental illness. inpatient psych doesn’t help them. it doesn’t even pretend that it’s going to help. they stay for a few days, sometimes get treated violently or forcibly medicated, and then they’re dumped back on the streets. the idea that the psych industry is NECESSARY for—maybe even works best for—those with “severe & pervasive mental illness” is laughable imho. it’s prison in a different font.
1000%. this also brings up something that i rarely see discussed re: psych abuse, which is the huge class divide in terms of what people experience while institutionalized. which institutions become de facto poor people institutions, which tend to serve the privileged. even beyond spaces like prisons and homeless shelters, the location, racial/class demographics, and cost of a given hospital/ward will completely transform someone's experience.
like, it's all traumatic. but what agents of the med/psych industry can get away with in institutions serving poor patients of color is astronomical compared to their wealthier, whiter counterparts.

made a post about how I'm relieved and excited to be alive in 2026 and how I'm glad I exist in a time where music and education and communication are so expansive and accessible and said post wasn't even up for a single hour before someone started declaring that actually there are evil revolting breaches of human rights happening right now. not even an hour
im so mad i cant find it anymore but heres my recreation
this is kind of beautiful. I reckon we should all fabricate tweets from faint half-remembrances and letter them by hand instead of using screenshots
i need more fiction especially period fantasy and sci-fi fiction to start writing psychotic characters who aren't just stock cartoon ideas of madness, or reinforcing the idea that psychosis is an exclusively modern and middle-class phenomenon. not just sinister assassins and mad kings and lunatic sorcerers and lobotomised prophets, i want the conventionally attractive magic sword wielding knight in shining armour hero protagonist from a little village in the middle of nowhere to be delusional and dysfunctional too. i want elves and dwarves and dragons and princesses with personality disorders on my desk by tomorrow morning.
and for the love of god enough of this using psychosis as a trope to subvert audience expectations bullshit. you are not and will never be shakespeare's hamlet and the reason hamlet works as well as he does is because he's psychotic for reals. if you write a mad protagonist fucking commit to it or die.
"You must try to understand that some mentally ill people can't be treated like full people," they say, but we're here and we hear them and we suffer under their violent dehumanization just like real people would.
Hello neurotypical. Are you normal about the fact that I am unable to feel empathy as an emotional response?
Everyone in the notes like "Yeah! I'm normal about this, as long as you're not an evil asshole that kicks puppies" has failed the test.
Thank you person in the tags
can i leave now?
my anhedonia is eating me alive so i’m making these mental illness memes to cope
'aftermath of torture'? coward. show me the math of torture. the calculus of evil and the terrible geometry of pain.
Hey, assorted soft scientists. Have you considered that there's a possible correlation between suicidal thoughts going underreported and the fact that admitting suicidal thoughts to a professional is bar none the fastest way to give them legal control over you?
I tell people I have schizophrenia because I don't want people in my life that judge me on my mental health. Those who are disturbed aren't important and those who are important won't be disturbed
