Nick tries to surprise his girlfriend, but is rudely stopped by her protective dog
Somehow, by some miracle, Y/n had managed to sneak a German shepherd dog into the loft. Her dog had been found in a dumpster out behind The Griffin, and Y/n took him in. The loft decided on Griffin as the name, keeping it in the family.
She kept him pretty quiet, but one thing he would not allow was people trying to get into Y/n’s room. Every time you wanted to go in during the day you had to present yourself, and nobody even thought of going in at night, especially when Y/n was sleeping.
But, Nick Miller was indifferent to the dog. So, he decided when he got home from his trip to Chicago he was going to surprise Y/n while she was asleep. What could go wrong?
Everything. Everything went wrong. First, he got home more tired than he expected, he tripped walking in the door which woke Jess and Griffin, she squealed which woke Schmidt, and Schmidt scolded the both of them, which made Griffin scared. He calmed down and Nick brought his bag into his room, devising his plan.
He approached the door, putting his hand on the handle and opening it. Griffin woke up and immediately started growling, jumping up and waking Y/n.
She jumped, grabbing Griffins collar and pulling him toward her. “What the hell, Nick!”
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry,” He turned the light on and presented himself to the dog, allowing him to cool off.
“Christ, you woke up the whole block.” She laughed, opening the covers, inviting him in. “I’m glad you’re back. Now come here, I’m cold.”
Nick nodded with a smile, gratefully climbing into bed with her. “I missed you,” he mumbled against her neck.
“I missed you too, you maniac.”
Nick awoke that morning to griffin sandwiched between him and Y/n slobbering Nick’s his leg. He was home.
