I love card from BSD Totl
Let's talk about this for a moment
I'm not the first to think that Chuuya did this for totally opposite reasons than he claims and I won't be the last. Especially when you take his expression in consideration (grin or smirk would be more appropriate, this just looks thoughtful, like recalling some past hurtful memory).
What catches my eye is 1) Chuuya is the one who brings this whole thing up 2) In subtle way he's showing Dazai that whole betrayal thing affected him (other than anger) 3) Chuuya feels the subconscious need to either repress said sadness or to at least not show it directly to Dazai (if Chuuya is aware of feeling anything other than anger regarding betrayal thing, sometimes certain emotions regarding certain things are so ego dystonic that we're not aware of them). Thus he adds "that's how much I hate you", just to emotionally be on the safe side, whatever Dazai replies to him.
Dazai always likes to call Chuuya ‘his dog’ and normally, that can be seen as him teasing or just being downright offensive. Though there is another way to think about it!
A dog is a man’s best friend. If Dazai keeps calling Chuuya his dog, then isn’t he technically calling him his best friend? I think it’s a fun thing to think about and something Chuuya would never find out unless someone told him. So it’s even funnier!
THIS but also, dogs are marked by loyalty. Dazai is a possessive shit who saw the first kid his age who actually stood up to him and made him feel something. Before Chuuya he acted like nothing could make him genuinely happy but then he meets Chuuya and immediately begins to have actual fun, from the steady banter, the lack of actual fear, the equal amounts of pettiness, someone actually calling him out and the whole chance to be an actual child at the arcade. Dazai seems to realise that he likes this kid and wants him around but to his fucked up troll brain he can’t be friends so instead he has got to own him as his dog. If he beats Chuuya in a bet, Chuuya has no choice but to be his loyal dog for life and therefore stick with him for ever. Its implied he cheated to win in the 15 light novel as well.
So yea, Dazai wants this new kid to be his best friend and doesn’t have a clue of how to do it so he tries to claim his as his loyal dog for life.
It probably helps that Chuuya is actually loyal and protective towards Dazai (in his own weird way) and has the temperament of a chihuahua when petted.
Dazai will poke and prod Chuuya's neck and face, cup his cheeks with his bare hands, talk about wanting to own him, gaze at him mesmerized and forget to breathe, pull him into his lap and wipe his blood away, risk the world for his humanity, put his hand gently in his hair and imply that he is the prince to his princess, refuse to acknowledge the end of their partnership, stop a war for him, insist on his humanity with zero proof, tell everyone how much he thinks about him and then say, "I have no interest in hugging men".
Lucy, I'm watching ur stream rn, and why are you trying not to laugh, bruh
Anyway, people should draw Higuchi with a bunch of different guns, like c'mon, she's our gun lady. Make her a cowboy and give her a pistol! Make her participate in shooting as a sport!! Just draw the gun lady with guns, please
I just love how chuuya is canonically beautiful.

This is based on WAN Dazai spilling his curry cup all over Kunikida’s notebook. Which I found funny

I know when it comes to bsd costumes a lot of people focus on coats, but I really like coloring as well.
Mori is mostly associated with red and pink, which are not only associated with the mafia as a whole, symbolizes colors such as danger, passion and love (all emotions that are important to Mori) and contrasts him nicely against Fukuzawa who is associated with more natural colors like blue and green.
And then the change of the hunting dogs uniform from green to red, and while I know this was done because of sensitivity with historical and army uniforms and all that, I do like the change. (Mostly because the olive green is really ugly and red just suits everybody's color scheme a lot more) But also because again red of the hunting dogs uniform really contrasts against how red and green really contrasts eachother.
And then theres also Chuuya's gravity being red, while nullification is blue. And then beast beneath the moonlight being blue and Rashomon being red.
And while I know some people have a problem with Chuuya's eyes from being turned from blue to brown in the anime, but it really makes him and his design pop from Dazai even more and I'm a slut for contrast. and then also Ranpo's eyes from being turned from brown to green, again it associates with Fukuzawa and just pops more.
In short, color theory. (Don't @ me on that, im not an artist nor a character designer.)
