Painted this back when there was no confirmation of a final season, and had come up with my own finale involving a demon who comes to earth wanting Crowley’s help to run a presidential campaign for world domination, in exchange for a one-way escape ticket out of the universe before the end times hit. Meanwhile Aziraphale is working hard trying to veto the apocalypse, and find a safe place for him & Crowley but can’t do it all alone. The girls are fighting over ouija boards. Loathe & deftones dominates the soundtrack cause I hc Crowley as a metalhead. Crowley has a panic attack and turns into a snake (Muriel gets bitten)

TLDR: Crowley gets into politics to distract himself from day drinking

good omens 3 spoiler alert

I just wanted to share thoughts on why I found Aziraphales speech in which he calls Crowley the “best angel” hard to watch, bearing in mind that I obviously resonate with this character and that skews my lens. I really delved into the analogies around Crowley’s fall; it being a major transition in his life and also a trauma that changed him permanently. Throughout s1 & s2 we see a complex character who has learned to adapt; he takes pride in his free will, his demonic nature, and has no desire to revert to the past. He is gloomy and irritable yes, but he is also optimistic and creative at times. Whether or not Crowley holds personal allegiance to hell, being a demon is an integral part of him. In his arguments with Aziraphale I see someone who is begging to be seen and loved for what he is, the way he does Aziraphale.. and that just.. never happens in the slightest. I understand when it’s downplayed to suit a comedic tone but seriously.. every interaction he has with Aziraphale up until the end repeatedly affirms that he is accepted only conditionally. Aziraphale’s major ask of God is why Crowley had to be taken away, as if there was nothing of him left post-fall. He is called the “best angel”, and then wiped from existence.. not totally surprised he chose to opt out at this point Sadly I am not warmed by seeing some parallel, less traumatised, cleaned-up version of Crowley live out his dream and wonder about nightingales that he has no personal connection to.

and THEN after the s2 finale conflict where crowley made very clear he does not want to become an angel again and hates the very idea of it, s3 aziraphale called him “the best angel”

I’m coping with the Good Omens finale by laughing about how audacious the writers were in making Crowley such a depressed, hopeless bum, that when the plot itself asked him what he’d like, his wish was for it to be better and omit himself entirely
