To the surprise of absolutely no one, I drew Tyrael again

Study of his gorgeous in game model (textured and high poly) by Gustavo Medeiros. I wanted to have a go at doing a pencil drawing digitally (I need another Diablo sourcebook with a portrait of him and his new look, please and thank you).

Finally finished this one. I wanted to portray Tyrael as a saintlike figure – he deserves some cool depictions of his mortal appearance.

Surprise, it's Diablo. The obsession has been strong this year. I've played a lot of D2R (and some D3 and DI) at the beginning of this year. My 2026 resolution even was "Finally learn how to draw Tyrael", no joke.

Then, The Lost Horadrim and Lord of Hatred happaned. Category 5 blorbo event, I'm still recovering lmao.

Too many books at the same time.

Narziß und Goldmund (Narcissus and Goldmund) by Hermann Hesse. I'm only at the beginning, so I can't really say anything about it. I wanted to read another novel by Hesse (I've only read Siffhartha so far) and the monastery setting sounded interesting, so I chose this one.

Die Wahlverwandtschaften (Elective Affinities) by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Man, this one is pretty boring. My least favourite work by Goethe so far.

Scales of the Serpent by Richard A. Knaak. The second novel in The Sin War Trilogy. It's...okay, I'm just here for the Diablo lore and will endure anything.

とんがり帽子のアトリエ (Witch Hat Atelier) by Kamome Shirahama. I'm working my way through it bit by bit. Which will take ages because I decided to read it in Japanese (and it is a bit above my level of Japanese). Such a wonderful story and Shirahama's art style is absolutely gorgeous

"I've made a mess of things..." Redraw of my favourite scene in Lord of Hatred. I swear, I am so normal right now™ This was like a sleeper agent activation code for me lmao

Some yapping below (beware of spoilers)

I still can't believe that Tyrael's back, oh my god. I've kept my expectations for the new campaigns low, because Vessel of Hatred's campaign was underwhelming for me (speaking as a Lorath fan hoping for more Lorath content lmao).

And this cutscene, hoo boy, I've already rewatched it like 50 times. Lorath's breaking point, the Wanderer rushing after him, Tyrael returning (looking regal and kind), the music (oh my god, the music) and MOST IMPORTANTLY: THIS HUG! THIS STUPID, PERFECT, TENDER HUG!!! OUGH, MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN FINALLY ANSWERED.

I'm still not sure how to feel about the reason for his long abscence. I always expected something, well, more dramatic, I suppose. But after reading The Lost Horadrim, it also feels plausible. Also, he's back, that's the only thing I care about

Their dynamic was absolutely wonderful in this expansion. I've never been much of a shipper, but I am now their #1 fan lmao. My doomed Old Man Yaoi. Also, perfect OT3 potential going on with the Wanderer.
