when your friend learned a few tricks from the Time Loop, it makes traveling through dangerous places a liiiitttleee bit easier. maybe don’t ask how he learned them though

Project Hail Mary really has something for everyone. Love tangible special effects? The sets are real and some of the most surreally beautiful moments were practical. Into alien design? The alien is adorable, tattooed and wildly emotive despite having no face. And his movement patterns are fascinating—he’s a physical puppet with five puppeteers. Want a morally gray female character who doesn’t get tamed? The leading foil is fabulous. If you’re a movie buff there’s some great Easter eggs; if you like end-of-the-world crises and desperate last stands, this one’s a doozy; if you love atmospheric visuals and a score that transforms the experience without words, you’ve got them. If you want to see a guy act his a heart out and hold the screen alone with a puppet for a solid half the movie, Gosling is glorious. If you want him scruffy, smart, kindhearted and ready to cry, he’s all that too. If you love whump, space kicks his ass repeatedly and thoroughly. And if you just want a story that says we always have another chance to save each other and ourselves, this is that story.
