Darwin and the Rap Guide to Evolution
"How far have we come in understanding evolution?" - a new report from the National Academies Press, "Brain and Behavior" asks. Our new tools point to repeated events of evolution involving networks of genes, that led to complex brains. Scientists no longer are certain that all living things with complex brains evolved from a common ancestor, a shift in our thinking.

Nele Azevedo’s ice people, via Flavorwire
Brazilian artist Nele Azevedo’s ice people: 1,000 small sitting figures made from ice. The Berlin installation, intended to draw attention to climate change in the Arctic, lasted until his last figure melted in the heat of the day.
Science describes climate change, rising temperatures, melting glaciers, extreme weather and the losses to people animals, plants all around the globe. But it is art that awakens us with the tragedy of it all and the need for our best efforts to provide a cleaner world. Thank you Nele Azevedo for this moving exhibit and lesson. - J.J.Brown
