Now, Willow liked to believe that he knew his limits but in reality, he had the tendency to get totally absorbed in his work. It was just how his mind worked. Once he focused on something that he wanted to learn or figure out, he’d barely notice the passage of time. If he didn’t have Henrietta to remind him on taking periodic breaks and Leo to bring him some food, it was very likely that he’d be locked in his office for hours on end without performing basic self care.

Spark gave a hearty laugh, allowing the small pokemon to try and climb up his legs——and going so far as to scoop them up and place them on his head and shoulders when they failed to climb up the leather pant legs on their own.

“ Oh, no need to apologize for them, ” he assured, scratching behind Vivi’s ears as he turned to face Henrietta. “ They’re just kids; most pokemon tend to be a little squirrelly when they’re this little. It’s adorable, isn’t it? ” This was one of the many reasons that Spark focused his research upon baby pokemon; they were fun and sweet, and it was fulfilling. He couldn’t ask for anything more.

Blossom always liked to visit different places with her dad. There’s a sense of freedom that she would never get tired of. Being able to walk freely by her dad’s side as she takes in the sights and sounds makes her really happy. Sometimes, she still gets nightmares and bad feelings of her time when she wasn’t herself, but her first dad had saved her and now she had dad to give her all the love that she could ever want.

Spark was hanging out in Unova for research—setting up a small Instinct base in the region, getting hands-on experience with the pokemon in their natural habitats... even just getting to explore the region where he was born and where his sister resides. He was loving his time there so far, and Castelia City was no exception. The bustling seaside town reminded him of Goldenrod back in Johto... though Castelia was certainly far bigger ( it seemed that was the case for everything in Unova, though ).

He was strolling through the park with Spark II when the Ampharos stopped, turning around and walking towards a bench.

“ Hey, Junior. What’d you find——. ” And it was a pokemon, hiding. He knelt down beside the bench, head tilted to the side. “ Hey... what are you doing down here, little buddy? ” Spark questioned, reaching a hand under to pet her, before turning his head to his Ampharos. “ Nice catch, Junior. ”

Junior, too, bent down to look, and copied after Spark, sticking his hand under the bench, too. ‘ Hi! I’m Spark. He’s also Spark. We’re both Spark. Are you okay? ’

all things considered, spark was loving sinnoh. yes, it was the region where mystic thrived above all else ( blegh. spark loved blanche with all of his heart, but their research was boring and his and candela’s were way cooler. or... not cooler, because they had a thing for ice, and him and candela were both more—you know what? this is an irrelevant tangent ). but there were little pockets of places where instinct prevailed! honestly, he was proud of his team. small and antagonized as they were. almost every gym along routes 209 and 210 were under instinct control, and faced very little competition, and lately, the gyms around sunyshore had fallen under near-constant instinct occupation.

he had just walked into town from a visit to lake valor when he noticed the gym by the snorlax rock had just been taken over by his team, and hey, why not pay the lucky victor a visit? he walked up, only starting to survey the area as he shouted a “ yo, instinct, what up, fam?” what he didn’t expect to see was volkner himself hanging out.

he was probably more surprised than he should be—after all, the other man both lived and worked in the city; he himself was merely a visitor. still, his eyes widened slightly, eyebrows raising as he approached the other man.

spark couldn’t say for sure what he’d been expecting. at first, he was just playing along with green’s joke ( he hadn’t expected the victim of the whole scenario to be, well, curtis ) and from there, things had just somewhat messily fallen into place. it must have been a good deal of coincidence, of course—the fact that curtis’ phanpy wanted to say hello wasn’t planned; their shared interests couldn’t have been anything to count upon. but, well, they ended up here, and he couldn’t say he was complaining.

nimbasa city was an important part of his life in one way or another, but despite that, he’d never seen it in person, and it certainly was a beautiful sight. especially now that the sky was turning dark and the lights of the city were now illuminating his field of view.

“ it’s amazing, ” spark breathed after a few more moments of admiring the city around him, finally turning to face curtis once again. “ did i tell you i was born here? it’s where my parents met; my dad lived here when he was a kid... i can’t believe i never travelled out here to see it. ” you’d think he would have, by now, but... he supposed he just hadn’t gotten around to it. it had fallen to the wayside, secondary to his pokemon and his work, and, well, everything. life, as it had a habit of doing, had gotten in the way.

“ you’re from unova, right? so i bet you’ve been here a lot. ” ... maybe? he wasn’t sure how much time curtis spent in big cities—it didn’t seem like somewhere the other would feel at home, but then, maybe he had to be there for his work and all that.

he found his eyes trained primarily upwards, glancing back and forth across the streets as they wandered. goldenrod was a big city, too, but it felt so small in comparison ( which only made everywhere else he’d been seem TINY ). “ so, what’s here that’s really worth it to see? ”
