To some it may seem like Chris is the kind of person that don’t care about what others think, but it wasn’t like that at all, he did, except when it came to his clothes, he wouldn’t ever let what other people think stop him from wearing what he wanted or doing what he liked, “Oh, definitely, no one should wear something they dislike just because others want it, as long as the person isn’t hurting anyone, they should do whatever they wanted.”

Julio never really apologies for WHO he is, his own choices always more important than what someone else thinks about him. It wasn’t like fashion choices could hurt someone, although humans liked to think so when they saw that giant ‘x’ on his suit. Fuck those type of attitudes. “I agree with that so much. You have a good head on your shoulders more then most strangers I meet. It’s refreshing. I’m Julio.” He says with a smirk, extending a hand out for a proper greeting.

Chris didn’t follow the fashion trends, he didn’t even know what they were, so he was possibly one of the worst people that you could ask for advice when it comes to it, “I think it looks good, but if you liked it, I don’t think anyone’s opinion should matter,” he didn’t think that he should buy something based on what others thought of it.

The man was never terribly into fashion — liking what he does, which usually leans more toward PUNK sense of style, but what can you do? He takes it off his head to look at it in his hands. NAH — he can’t rationalize the price tag. “You have a point though. Who cares what anyone else thinks, right? Those are some words to live by.”

a scowl graced remy’s features as he turned the sunglass rack, unimpressed by the selections. hearing julio call out to him, he sighed and plucked a random pair, sliding them on before turning around. “well it’s not your best look,” he snorted, shaking his head. “not your worst either.” he conjured a grin as he began looking over the hats, nose scrunching up. “den again, all of dese are pretty terrible.” 

The mutant pulls the hat off his head, looking at it once before tossing it back on the rack. He sighs as his body drifts closer to Remy. “I just think I might look awful in hats. I can rock a headband though.” He says with a vague hand gesture. Julio nudges his friend gently,  smirk spread over his features at how disgusted Remy seems. “We should go somewhere with stuff more our style. What do you think?”

“Hey! You want to give me an opinion on something?” Julio asks with a genuine smile on his face — not sure what’s gotten into him lately. There was a lot going on in the world when it comes to his people, but here he was looking for fashion advice. He tosses a hat over on his head, modeling it for a moment. “What do you think?”

Billy thought about his hero experiences — fighting Black Adam, the Justice League, Superman — and couldn’t think of anything other than it being destructive. Why did having powers have to be so destructive? He thought.

The boy nodded. “Only when I say a special word.” Billy was silent and looking around. “Otherwise, I’m just… Billy Batson.” 

Billy was silent even more. A part of him wanted to show the other what he can do as Shazam. He also wanted to see what Rictor could do. “If we could go some where that wasn’t populated, I’d show you mine.”

It was traumatic when the abilities first manifested, thinking about how much destruction was caused accidentally. He smiles though anyway, looking at the kid. “Listen, either way you’re still pretty heroic.”

There’s more than one way to save people. He doesn’t know exactly what the power set is with the other, but has a feeling it’s a good one. He wonders what the two of them teaming up would look like.  

“I’m sure we could find a construction zone SOMEWHERE or an abandoned building. What do you say?” Julio offers as it would be almost FUN to show off a little.

“The X-Men?” Billy repeated. He’s heard of them — a team of mutants fighting for peace and equality — though he thought they were a fictional team. “Whoa, that’s cool!” The boy was totally excited about meeting one. The other’s powers were especially cool. He wished he could do something like that.

“Creating earthquakes sounds like a cool power! I wish I could do that!” He paused, looking around. “In my current form, I can’t do any,” Billy said in a hushed tone. “But after I say a magic world, I can do pretty much anything.”

To him, what he could do as Shazam was pretty much anything, but he knew he was limited to what the Wizard gave him.

“YEAH.” He has dabbled with a bunch of teams too that branch off from the group, liking to keep himself busy. He’s also worked with the NEW MUTANTS as well as X-FACTOR in addition to being part of the X-MEN. He doesn’t necessarily know what else to do with himself. FREE TIME? It seems unheard of. He wouldn’t mind opening a club someday, but that doesn’t feel realistic at the moment anyway.

It makes him smile, genuinely since he isn’t used to someone thinking that he was cool. His life usually ended in objects thrown at him. This was a NICE CHANGE. “Thank you. You don’t know how much that means to me. It can be COOL, but it’s destructive. I’d show you if we weren’t in such a populated area.” The man goes silent for a moment. 

“Oh? You have powers too then?”

Billy squinted his eyes, trying to read the other. The boy wasn’t all that good at reading people — especially tell if they were good or not. But at times like these, there wasn’t really a good or bad side. Just heroes and villains verses the people behind this drug and the sentinels.

“Rock their world, huh?” Billy repeated. He wondered if that was a hint of sort to the other’s powers. “You aren’t that Quake person that I’ve heard someone mention, are you?”

“They call me RICTOR. I’m with the X-MEN.” It shouldn’t be something to just blurt out to anyone, but he feels as if he could trust the kid. He has a good head on his shoulders from what he can tell off their first meeting.

“I have an empathetic bond with the earth, and I can create seismic waves — like earthquakes.”

Billy’s eyes went wide after the other spoke. He looked over the other, trying to figure out if he knew them — either worked with or from a story — but the other didn’t look familiar. The boy wondered what abilities they had.

“Is it safe for you to be here?” He quickly questioned. “I mean, out in public? The sentinels. Wouldn’t they—” He stopped, realizing he was talking really fast. “Sorry. I’m sure you could take care of yourself.”

Julio was never scared of what the sentinels would do to him, more so for his friends. He can protect himself, but that doesn’t always make it less annoying to see the hate displayed all over the city. “I’ll be fine. If anyone tries to mess with me I’ll rock their world.” He says with a smile, a pun that only he would be aware of since his abilities were seismic in nature. “I just have to be careful is all.”

There was something about this scene that the alien did not like. Every person around him looked like they were getting ready to pass out due to the boredom of waiting. “How depressing.” He thought, before walking to an open in the center of the group.

“Stop me if you’ve heard this before.” Noh-Varr said loudly, gathering everyone’s attention. “It’s going to be great.” It only took a minute to get ready before belting out a song.

♪ ~ I was cheated by you and I think you know when / So I made up my mind, it must come to an end / Look at me now, will I ever learn? / I don’t know how but I suddenly lose control / There’s a fire within my soul ~ ♪

Julio wasn’t about to start singing in public, and while he does a lot of eccentric things sometimes this wouldn’t be one of them. Most of his behavior influenced by Shatterstar or one of his friends nudging him into it. 

“I’ve heard it before, you don’t need to —“ he reaches out, but stop when the boy sings anyway. He pushes fingers through his hair as people started to turn around and look at them.

“Hmm? What’s this?”

A piece of paper caught his attention as he walked towards Central Park. There wasn’t much to look at, but the flyer had information about some type of black market drug that promised to cure mutatism and suppress metahuman abilites.

Billy laughed. “They can’t be serious, right?”

It makes Julio sick just looking at the pictures, any promise of their ‘cure’ which just wasn’t right far as he was concerned. “It’s their propaganda. You have to promise me you’ll stay away from anyone trying to feed you this information. It’s not good for you.” 

l Alright there he goes sounding preachy, but he doesn’t even know if this kid was a mutant or a meta. “They’re serious. They don’t like people like me.”

          𝐈𝐅 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄 𝐖𝐀𝐒 𝐎𝐍𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐆 about new york city that never changed no matter what universe you in, it was the view. the sight of the thousands, if not millions, of dazzling lights from up high usually succeeded in calming down the nerves that buzzed beneath gwen’s skin, but not tonight. if anything, the sight of the lights and the feeling of the wind in her hair only managed to further remind the young thai american that she was a long way from home. feeling the hairs on the back of her arms stand on edge, alerting the enhanced human to the fact that she was no longer alone, gwen would sigh before moving to stand up out of her prior position which could only really be called ’ the asian squat ’ and jumping back away from the ledge of the of the building she had been crouched upon. “ i thought that door was locked, ” she mumbled to herself before gracefully pivoting so that she could look at the newcomer. “ what are you doing up here, anyway ? it’s dangerous for you to be out this late. ”

Julio steps forward in his yellow and black x-men uniform, hair flowing in the wind. “I know it’s dangerous, but I like a good spot with a view.” He doesn’t necessarily need to be on patrol or anything, but his gloved hands pull on his green jacket as he sits down on the edge of the building. “I was checking on a lead and saw you up here so I had to make sure you were okay."

“huh?” the harlequinn blurts out as her gaze shifts from the poster she’d been staring at and towards the brunette. “oh, yeah, i think it’s a bunch a’bullshit if y’ask me.” she agrees, thoughts going back to her friends who’d suffered from this new hope serum. if it weren’t for them..hell, harley probably would of been selling it. the fate of heroes in harleys’ eyes were minimal. “y’gonna do anything to stop it?”

Julio gets angry thinking about what this serum could really be doing to those taking it — he doubts it’s anything close to what they’re promising. He’s heard some not so good stories already. “Honestly? I’d love to turn the places making it to rubble.” He knows that would be risky, enough to bring attention to himself. They were probably already looking for him anyway, so he wasn’t totally against doing something about it.

“An asshole of epic proportions,” Lois confirmed, slinging one leg over the other as she settled properly into the chair. “And I grew up on a military base, so I don’t say that lightly.”

Neither the name nor the face rang a bell, a fact which only sparked the usual curiosity in her. “Lois,” she introduced with a small smile. “So, Julio– what brings you to The Missing Bean this morning?”

“I feel like MOST cops are these days.” Julio might be biased, but doesn’t really care about letting his opinions be obvious. “I have issue with authority, but I do believe there are some good ones out there.” He just hasn’t met them personally.

“It’s nice to meet you Lois. Some call me Rictor as well.” Which might be a risky confession, but he was willing to take one. “Would you believe me if I said I came for the coffee? It’s better than Starbucks, and people are more accepting usually.”

a  pout  upon  painted  lips  ;   for  a  moment  ,   there  are  no  words  to  express  the  emotions  that  sat  heavily  in  the  air ,  the  pain  of  being  hated  for  simply  existing  .   she  was  no  stranger  to  witnessing  a  feeling  such  as  this .    “    then  should  we  go  somewhere  ?  ”     she  asks  ,  the  injury  settling  in  shyly  between  them ,    “    i  know  i’m  not  interesting  enough  to  be  around  with  much  ,  but  at  least  we  could  get  away  for  a  moment  .    ”  

Julio wishes life was different for mutants and metas, but unfortunately this was the reality they’re given. He takes a deep breath, and he wonders where the rest of the x-men are. He ignores that worry, and focuses on Ruth instead. “Who told you that? I think you’re plenty interesting. Are you hungry?” He asks since he knows of a place nearby that was pretty accepting of mutant-kind.

she  doesn’t  wear  hatred  well.      even  if  the  propaganda  of  a  CURE  filled  in  the consciousness   of  the  masses  .    to  be  angry  at  a  world  afraid  of  her  felt  acrid  smoke  that  burned  her  lungs ,  burned  her  mind  .  SHE  TRIED  IT  ONCE ,  to  no  avail .     “    i   don’t  think  much  of  it  .   ”     she  replied  softly  ,  her  hand  passing  over  her  cloth  bound  eyes ,     “    i  can’t   read  after  all.  ”      

Julio crumples the poster in his hands so it took the shape of a paper ball. He just holds it in his hand, not liking the way the world treats him. He tosses it aside to a nearby bin. “I shouldn’t let myself get so worked up. I need a distraction or something.”
