“So I’m guessing you lost the bet?” Scorpius took a seat in front of her. Their relationship was weird to say the least but it wasn’t all entirely negative which in his eyes was good. He didn’t have many positive relationships in his life other than his family. // @xfthestvrs
“I said I didn’t want trouble but then came trouble.” Scorpius had been at the bar a little too late and someone who had one too many drinks had came after him after hearing his name. It had already been days since the event happened with the dark mark in the sky but it was always easy to pick someone to blame to mask the fear that they were feeling. A fight had followed quick and Scorpius was too tired to mask the black eye he had received. || @lvmosmaxima - the boy in the bubble // alec benjamin
fingers trailed along the leather of each book spine as dominique’s eyes briefly read over the book’s titles. she hummed softly as she rounded the shelf’s corner. “no, no, no, no.” one book caught her attention and she pulled it from the row for a moment before remembering that wasn’t the reason she was here. “excuse me, do you by any chance know where I can find the new scamander book?”
Scorpius knew he needed to clear his mind. There were whispers in the ministry and he knew now more than ever that people were eyeing him after the events that had occurred after the Quidditch game. He was looking for a new book to read when a voice called out to him. He turned to look at her, she looked familiar to him but he couldn’t quite put a name to the face. “Um, no. Sorry. It may be in the new release section. Most of the books here aren’t very new.”
before he sees the mark in the sky, draco knows something is wrong. he can feel it, a burning sensation running through his left arm. the dark mark, a scar for over 27 years, now a spell against his skin. it had almost faded - a scar, just like all the others. and now? he doesn’t need to look to know it is black as the day he got it.
“holy shit.”
he cannot help it: his first instinct is to protect himself, to not look guilty. stand his ground, watch in awe. few know he has the mark, no need to draw attention to himself now. because, even now, he will always be suspected. but draco’s heart is thumping faster than it ever has with a question that makes him feel like he is sinking: is the dark lord back? @inomniahqstarters
Scorpius was used to the looks that he had been given when he arrived. They were looks he had received most of his school years and it was nothing new anymore. He had nothing to prove to anyone after all. He was here strictly on business to see if there was anything unusual that he could spot. The male was navigating through the large crowd of people and he could feel the burning glares on his back as he did so.
He noticed a familiar person come into view. Scorpius didn’t think that his father would be at an event like this but he also knew that if he was getting looks then his father was too. He didn’t dare look around at people as he made his way towards him.
“Dad.” He called out to get his attention, trying his best not to startle him but the look on his face told him that he knew that they probably should get out of here.
—– She heard him before she spotted him and Lyra turned quickly as she wrapped her arms around his neck. She didn’t care if he protested, she was simply happy to see him. “Thank Merlin,” she murmured and closed her eyes for a moment. She didn’t care about the crowd around them or the symbol that blared in the sky. She was just glad that no one had messed with him. “I’m fine. Regretting my decision to come here, but I’m fine. Are you okay?”
“Hey, hey.” He said a little taken back by the action. Scorpius wasn’t a particularly touchy person but he didn’t mind hugs from his sister. He just didn’t know what was going on other than what he just been told and her reaction was a little concerning at first. Had someone gotten hurt? Scorpius pulled back and placed a hand on her shoulder to try to calm her down, “I just got here.. by the looks of it though, it looks like no one’s hurt or anything. Why have you gone home, Ly? Did you come alone?”
—- Lyra only stepped away from Jay for a moment to get a better look for her brother. Jay still had to help to keep the crown calm in all this mess and she didn’t want to get in the way with him worrying over her too. She brushed her way through the crowd searching through the faces, and tried not to lose hope. “Sorry, please excuse me,” she murmured when her shoulder brushed another. // @inomniahqstarters
Scorpius hadn’t shown up to the event but he had been asked to go and check things out. There had been word that there was an incident that may or may not be an actual threat and considering that it was improper use of magic, he was one of the first asked to see what all had happened. There seemed to be a lot of chaos as people were trying their best to get out of there. He was looking around, wondering if there was anyone who’d stop to talk to him without thinking ill of him. Scorpius stopped when he felt someone bump into him only to see it was his sister. “Hey you.” He was relieved to see she was okay. “You alright?” First things first, he needed to make sure she was okay.
Roxanne was looking over the information that was presented about what happened in France while having a drink. She had never thought to see something like this again. During her years so far as a hit witch, she’s seen a lot but she figured that mark was long done for. Roxanne could feel someone staring at her. It was to be expected. Recently she had been fed up with wearing scarves to cover the scars on her neck and instead chose to dress normally instead of always covering up one way or another. “I can feel you staring. It’s rude, y’know.” She pointed out without looking up. // @inomniahqstarters
He had heard about it but he had never seen her scars. All he had ever seen was her always covered up. He almost didn’t recognize her. He had heard the rumors in the ministry about a werewolf who was making her way up but for some reason, he didn’t think it was her. Scorpius forced himself to look away and cleared his throat. “I apologize. That really was inconsiderate. I guess I just didn’t think the rumors were true.”
“Excuse me,” Isla said, looking up at the figure that was casting a dark shadow on her, blocking the already meager sunlight she’d been so looking forward to sitting in. She was sitting on a bench, a kale salad in a compostable bowl on her lap. She only had so long to eat this salad, and she was not going to let some second-rate loser steal the warmth of her lunch. @inomniahqstarters
They were housemates at one point and Scorpius recalls the times that he couldn’t help but roll his eyes at her during class and now standing here while waiting for his own food to be ready, he couldn’t help but want to roll his eyes again. “Isla.” He stated because last name basis is just too obvious for the annoyance he had in that moment with the tone of voice she carried. “Always a pleasure to run into you.” He stepped aside. “My apologies.” It came out with just the right amount of sarcasm.

Scorpius grew up in a loving home, of course. Astoria and Draco babied him to no end and he was loved and taken care of. However, that didn’t take away the fact that he was still a Malfoy. His grandfather made sure that he was well aware of the weight his last name carried despite his grandmother’s best efforts to make sure to tell Scorpius that he didn’t have to make the same mistakes they all did.
Things were never that easy though. Throughout his years at Hogwarts, Scorpius faced many repercussions of his last name’s history. Many people had a preset idea of who he was and despite how much Scorpius worked to make sure to break it, it didn’t matter. So what does one do when everyone paints them to be an image of something they aren’t? One can either fight against it or give in and for a while Scorpius gave in.
He became everything people claimed he was. Arrogant and rude but this wasn’t how Scorpius was and deep down he knew it. Right? His friends did anyways. Scorpius has never had a secure sense of self. He’s never really known exactly who he is because it’s always in the back of his mind that he needs to make sure to keep the Malfoy name in good standing. He’s not the same he was before but he does what he needs to, to get ahead.
After Hogwarts ended, Scorpius withdrew away from most of the people he knew and began to focus on his career in the ministry where he hoped that he could make his parents proud. Scorpius is unaware of what has caused such chaos to spark again but there are people within the ministry that are keeping an eye on him, believing that he may have something to do with what is going on simply because of his family’s past.
“I became good at pretending. I became so good that after a while the lines blurred between my truth and fiction. And sometimes, when I did a really good job of pretending, I even fooled myself.”
