Prompt: 5. Rumors
Couple: BaIo
Notes: I swear, this is a damn oneshot. c:
Whispered words in the hallways, quick glances thrown all around, people suddenly stopping their blabbering when a certain person walks by: rumors are the most fast spreading form of lies or hidden truths, the muttered words beneath someone’s breath, words that should not be heard by anyone else than the direct interlocutor.
When you live with an incredibly small group of people, rumors as such tend to spread more easily, as there’s less individuals who need to be informed- But what sort of unbelievable secret could be making Poseidon’s Marinas whisper and mutter? It’s not as if they hadn’t seen al sort of improbable things ever since they became warriors, yet it seemed as there was still something that managed to somewhat upset them, not in a strictly bad way- More like curiosity biting at them so much they just NEEDED to know what was true and what was not.
“I am telling you-” Caça’s voice was barely above an excited whisper. “I have seen them.” A considerably loud scoffing sound expressed perfectly what was Krishna’s opinion on the matter, he needed no words. “And what if it is true?” The Kraken’s voice wasn’t loud by standard, but in that moment, it possibly felt even lower. “It’s their problem, their matter, not ours, for certain.” He stubbornaly sat next to the Indian warrior, whom gave him an understanding glance, as if to imply that he was indeed agreeing with the youngest of the Marinas.
The Lymnades dramatically waved his hands about, looking as shocked as he could’ve managed. “Their problem? Aren’t you curious at all to know if they’re really getting it on?” This time the sound that followed was more like a snort and for the first time since they had started discussing, Sorrento actually spoke. “What of it? Are you envious?” And of course he had to prod. Of course.
“Me?! Envious of them? Please, I need not hide like they do.” “What if they’re hiding exactly because they don’t want this to be spoken about?” “Well, have they never went to school? The more you hide something, the more people want to know.” “I am pretty sure there are no schools on Isle of Saint Felice.” “After this geographical correction, can we all agree that Baian and Io are absolutely and undeniably hiding something from us?”
The question caused a dead silence to fall upon the small group, sometimes interrupted by the pensive ‘mmh’ of Krishna who was most certainly NOT thinking about the answer to that question. As if summoned, the Scylla warrior appeared from behind some rocks, absent mindedly waving at them before continuing on his own path, apparently not even wondering why there was a sort of reunion going on beneath Caça’s Pillar. “See? Something is absolutely on. He didn’t even ask us anything- Maybe we could-”
“No, we’re not following him.” Sorrento’s voice was once again heard and this time his tone was dead serious- And so was his posture, with crossed arms and stern eyes. “How would you like your privacy to be investigated upon?” Lymnades cackled almost madly, stepping in front of the considerably taller man to glare directly into his eyes. “...I know everything about everyone, Siren. Even what is going on behind those ever-so-calm eyes of yours. I can read hearts, did you forget?” Sorrento’s face did betray a sort of worry, but he added nothing, preferring to avoid his gaze.
“...That is more like it. I didn’t read Scylla’s and Seahorse’s hearts simply out of... Well. Let’s say I want to make this more interesting.” Caça rubbed his hands together before jumping onto the rock closest to where Io was seen going. “So, who’s going with me? Or are you all going to act like goody two shoes, which I know you are not?” Krishna huffed before standing up, once again adding nothing to the conversation: he merely walked towards the snickering Marina, soon followed by a disgruntled Isaac who muttered something akin to ‘blasted people not minding their own business’ before walking away, towards his own Pillar.
Sorrento did not move.
Seeing as no one else was coming, Caça shrugged at the Chrysaor before sneaking towards the supposed hiding spot of the other two warriors. And, unsurprisingly, there they were.
Baian looked irritated at best, not that his usual stern expression was anything different from that of an angry businessman, but in that moment he looked sincerely pissed. “You know it’s not my fault.” Those were the first words the spying duo heard him utter. “It is most certainly yours.” Io sighed and placed his hands onto his hips, looking at the Seahorse with an expression that was a mixture of apologetic and offended. “It might be not. I tried to be as secretive as you, you know. I can’t help it if people here are terribly nosy!” He raises his hands up, before doing a discreet sort of nod towards Caça’s ‘hiding place’.
The Seahorse was at a loss of words- Why would people be so damn interested in his life anyway? He had made it a point not to disclose anything more than necessary, but it looked like some stubborn Peeping Toms just HAD to know. “...So be it. We were planning on letting them know anyway, perhaps not like this, nor now, but I am sincerely done with their antics.”
“Wait, what do you-” Io knew Baian well. He had more than one occasion to learn how to read his usually unreadable expressions, to learn how he’d react to certain situations rather than others- And yet when the Canadian grabbed his arms to drag him closer and press one of the most aggressive kisses ever on his lips, he was at a sincere loss. But that didn’t mean he didn’t like it- Quite the opposite, considering that in a matter of seconds the surprise had died down and he was more than happily returning the kiss.
Krishna’s jaw had dropped almost immediately and Caça placed his index finger on the Indian’s chin, slowly closing his mouth. “Looks like I was right, wasn’t I? Now. Since you seem to be interested in these sort of things- Did I ever tell you about Thetis?”
