I finished my last day of classes for the school year today. I have three exams to do and I’m moving out of my dorm at the end of the week— I can’t wait to not have to listen to my roommates snoring during the day. I’m also getting back into journaling (in my A5 Moomin Journal) after being spotty about it for a while.
April was a busy month. It was the school holidays, so of course the library was full of children. This month had some fun little flip outs (escapril poetry prompts that I did none of and work's school Holiday Programme). We have mimikyu from Pokemon Go, Tumblr Snek, birthday celebrations, I made a poetry zine, had a visit from the neighbour's cat again, and spent ANZAC afternoon doing tarot readings with a friend.
22.04.26. writing is coming along slowly but steadily. my morning walks in the park are continuing to keep me sane - I think i’m really going to need them for the next week!
I don't really have much to say on this month's spread, only that it took a very long time, but it was a very nice way to unwind after stressful days.
I do really love the colour combination, but hate how I wrote the days of the week.
If I had to advise anyone planning on doing this type of spread though, I would suggest practicing some of the designs a bit beforehand, I messed up so severely on the calendar page that two of the tiles are glued in from a separate page.
mostly i just wanted to have a place to share this from, and to show all the pages that definitely haven't been shared here. also my thoughts on the notebook itself under the cut
this notebook is just the plain 30 page a5 grid notebook from muji, the one that's £1.50. its fantastic for fountain pens, honestly! it doesn't show as many properties as tomoe river, life or midori md (+ cotton), of course, but it shows a surprising amount considering the price! it doesn't have any bleed through or even much show through on my heavy applications of inks for my dates- and those put more ink on the page than you might think. it doesn't even feather with diamine cinnabun (scented) when i use it in fine sailor and kaweco pens!
it has a lovely tooth, especially feeling fantastic with my sailors, the grid is faint and thin enough to not compete with my handwriting, and the colour is an interesting soft white- definitely more cream that white, but also slightly greyed. similar to the midori md cotton, but just slightly... darker, not more cream.
i admittedly have been struggling a lot with glueing things in and warping the pages pretty nastily, as i'm sure is visible, but that isn't actually the paper's fault; it's mine for being bad at using the coccoina paste glue. with a gluestick or glue pen, everything is fine.
mmm okay that's it i think? i've had a good time in here, but also my life threw a lot of nastiness at me, and i became lost to the throws of developing a new special interest too, so i spent much longer in here than i expected to- and so i'm very glad to be moving on and out into a life pistachio (grid, of course) next!
less than 24 hours after taking these photos i had to go to the ER with a fever of 105. but i did submit my english paper on time!
being a STEM major means i don't usually get to spend my time on something as fun as literary analysis, so in that sense this gothic lit class has been a blessing – but it's also stressful to be graded on something i've spent so little time practicing for the past few years.
