✶ P.O.V. Draco

Luna’s bright voice cut cleanly through his thoughts.

“Theo?” She looked up at him with quiet curiosity. “Can you make butterflies?”

“…Butterflies?”

Draco slowly lowered the notebook.

Something in Luna’s tone—that innocent, hopeful note—usually meant trouble.

Theo froze. His eyes sharpened as though she’d just hit him with a curse. His shoulders twitched almost imperceptibly.

For a split second, genuine panic flashed across his face.

Draco almost smiled.

“What’s wrong, Nott? Cornered, are we? Did the great manipulator finally lose control?”

“Lovegood,” Theo said. His voice came out lower than usual. There was unmistakable irritation beneath it. “Why would you even assume that I’d…”

He shot her an exasperated look.

“…bring that up?”

Draco bit back a grin.

He’d seen Theo reduce trees to ash in seconds.

But butterflies?

“What butterflies?” he asked aloud, setting the notebook aside as he studied Theo with growing interest. “I had no idea you secretly specialized in decorative charms, Nott. I thought your talents were limited to pyromancy and manipulating people.”

Theo grimaced as though he’d just swallowed spoiled potion.

His eyes flicked to Luna. She merely raised an eyebrow.

“Forget it.” He dismissed the subject with a sharp wave of his hand. “It doesn’t matter.”

Luna smiled. A soft smile. Her blue eyes sparkled with quiet mischief.

“Uh-oh. Somebody’s self-esteem is about to have a very bad day.”

“But I really like your butterflies,” she said simply.

🪽32nd week of 2026

Sometimes a few spontaneous thoughts are all it takes to come up with completely unhinged ideas.

This week brought a ridiculous number of important decisions about future projects.

And I’m so, so, so excited! 🫶

I’ve stopped checking my Ficbook stats altogether. At this point, it feels like there’s just me and a handful of other authors left on the internet.

I’m counting down to the end of the workweek, because then I have two whole weeks of vacation ahead of me.

And somehow, that vacation is going to carry me straight into autumn—with concerts, evenings by the sea, and Valheim sessions with friends.

Creativity isn’t going anywhere.

But I definitely need to get myself even more grounded and remember that I actually have a life outside my stories.

For the first year and a half, I gave myself to LS completely.

It was only this summer that I started learning how to balance being an author with being a person outside the stories—slowly allowing myself to take a little more space for everything else.

So right now, I’m looking forward to the sea, concerts, and long evenings in Valheim💔

🌕 Chapter 30 — “Tattoo”

The tattoo scene isn’t safe intimacy.

There’s no romanticized version of it.

No “she finally understood his pain”

Instead, Luna gets the reality of it:

The jasmine was suffocating.

Sticky.

Rotten.

Claws tearing at his heart.

This isn’t a beautiful trauma.

It’s violence inflicted by memory.

To be truly seen isn’t beautiful.

It isn’t convenient.

And it isn’t something you can control.

Theo didn’t let himself cry.

He never fully processed what happened.

He locked it away.

And now Luna doesn’t just see the memory.

She sees the grief he never managed to survive.

💔 The most terrifying thing isn’t the coffin.

The scene isn’t really about death.

It’s about being unable to grieve.

Theo’s breathing becomes steady.

And Luna realizes what he’s been carrying without ever allowing himself to feel it.

She feels it for him.

Lets it into her heart.

And stays with the weight of it.

That’s what makes her a witness.

🌓 Chapter 30 — “Tattoo”

💭 “Would it kill her to give me one tiny sign that something’s actually going on between her and Nott? Just one.”

Draco doesn’t know for certain.

But he can already feel that something is there.

So he looks for rational evidence.

It’s the same pattern again:

If there’s a sign, it can be analyzed.

If it can be analyzed, it can be understood.

And if it can be understood…

it can be controlled.

But Luna gives him no signals.

She doesn’t play by the rules of the models he understands.

And that leaves Draco with nothing to hold on to.

🪽31st week of 2026

Even with everything happening in fandom lately, I find myself living more and more in the real world.

Maybe that’s why this week’s Hobonichi spread turned into an ocean.

🪼 I finally wrapped up What remains unbroken on AO3: finished all the formatting, updated the cover with the beautiful artwork by @kathscapes, and even used the Ficbook coins I won in a writing contest to promote it tomorrow.

🪼 I’ve noticed an interesting pattern.

Whenever I start feeling exhausted by the translation, something on AO3 seems to come alive.

A new reader appears.

A thoughtful comment arrives.

Some small reminder that all of this matters.

And somehow, every single time, it gives me the energy to keep going.

For the past nine months, I’ve poured an incredible amount of myself into this story almost every single day.

If someone had sat me down before I published the very first chapter and explained everything that was waiting for me…

I think I still would have said yes.

Because LS has given me so much more than the experience of publishing a story.

It brought remarkable people into my life.

It taught me things I never expected to learn.

And it gave me a kind of joy that no statistics page could ever measure 💙

“You may choose,” the Inkweaver explained. “Or I shall choose for you. But understand this. It will disappear. Completely. No trace. And yet… your body will remember.”

Theo wanted to leave again.He almost turned towards the door.

His shoulders had already shifted—

but instead of taking a step, he drew a slow breath.

“I’ll choose.”

The choice felt impossible. His mind was a warehouse filled with darkness, guilt and grief. Now he had to surrender one memory.

He couldn’t decide whether to sacrifice the worst one… or the most precious.

“Do you wish to erase what keeps you awake?” the Inkweaver asked. “Or what makes you wake up?”

They stood facing one another. The desk between them felt almost ceremonial. A shallow silver bowl rested upon it. Beside it lay an unfamiliar instrument—long. Curved. Like a feather turned to metal—or a sharpened fang. Neither knife nor wand. Something older.

“Look inward,” the Inkweaver said. “Find the thing you no longer wish to carry.”

“And if I refuse?”

“Then your body will pay instead.” The man smiled faintly. “If you ask me… memory is the kinder price.”

Chapter 30: Tattoo Pairing: Theodore Nott x Luna Lovegood Rating: NC-17

☾ P.O.V. Luna

After several unsuccessful attempts to force a Fever Potion down Theo’s throat, Draco retreated to his bedroom—

making sure to slam the door behind him.

Luna remained where she was, watching Theo stretched across her sofa. The air between them felt heavier now. As though the magic itself were thickening with every breath. The blanket she’d carefully tucked around him had slipped onto the floor, pooling at her feet in dark folds.

Theo looked far too pale.

His eyes—

usually so sharp—

had gone distant and glassy, like the surface of a lake before a storm.

Luna gently brushed damp strands of hair away from his forehead.

When her hand slid to his shoulder, however, she stopped. Even through the fabric, his skin was burning.

Carefully, she eased back the collar of his shirt. And froze.

Just above his collarbone shimmered a pale blue feather. A delicate rune had been woven into its central vein. It looked alive. Almost translucent. Like a jellyfish drifting through black water. At its base rested a tiny engraved eye. Barely visible. Far too familiar.

“Is that…” The words escaped almost in a whisper. “…his work?”

As though speaking too loudly might wake whatever slept inside his blood.

🌕 Chapter 29 — “Surprise”

For one brief moment, Draco catches a glimpse of an ordinary life.

He’s spent years surrounded by chaos.

Violence.

Political games.

Ministry reports.

And then, suddenly…

he imagines something else.

Not passion.

Not romance.

Just warmth.

A life that no longer feels like a war.

He allows himself to imagine it because Theo says,

“I’m not interested in Luna.”

To Draco, that sounds like permission.

So he approaches the idea exactly as a Malfoy would.

▫️ He evaluates the match. ▫️ He considers the advantages. ▫️ He imagines stability. ▫️ He even starts wondering how he’d teach her which fork to use.

It all seems perfectly rational.

Until it isn’t.

Then Theo says one sentence in French.

Draco translates it.

And everything falls apart.

In that instant, he realizes this was never a game.

Never a harmless curiosity.

Never a hypothetical future.

The feelings run far deeper than he imagined.

Draco loses…

before the game has even begun.

Draco truly deserves something better.

He wants love.

But he’s afraid of it.

He’s ready for marriage.

Not for vulnerability.

What he really wanted…

was an ordinary life.

And that fragile dream disappears the moment Theo writes a single sentence in French.

🌔 Chapter 29 — “Surprise”

Theo never gives gifts that simply exist.

He gives gifts that keep the relationship alive.

He chooses objects that:

▫️ invite interaction ▫️ ask to be used ▫️ quietly bring her back to him

He doesn’t ask.

He doesn’t explain.

He doesn’t negotiate.

He simply makes one quiet, irreversible move.

Theo never says,

“Stay with me.”

Instead, he creates something that lets him remain part of the way Luna experiences the world.

The mirror is an intimate object.

You hold it in your hand.

Close to your face.

Almost like a touch.

And as Luna herself realizes,

it’s not a gift for her room.

It’s a gift for her body.

For her personal space.

The mirror becomes a safe obsession.

Theo can’t always be beside her.

He can’t protect her.

He can’t control her physical presence.

But through the mirror…

he can quietly exist in the moments when she’s alone.

Theo almost never speaks his feelings aloud.

Asking is difficult.

Being vulnerable is even harder.

So he hides his emotions inside actions instead.

Now it’s Luna’s turn to decipher them.

Because to understand the gift…

is to become part of it.

🌓 Chapter 29 — “Surprise”

Ginny knows something has changed. She just can’t find the right words for it.

Not because she doesn’t understand.

Because she’s looking at the situation through a completely different framework.

Ginny has a clear model of how relationships work.

She thinks in terms of:

▫️ roles (friend, partner, enemy) ▫️ actions (dating or not dating) ▫️ behavior (inviting someone in, jealousy, shared space)

For Ginny, if the signs are there… there must be a category they belong to.

And the facts really are unusual.

▫️ Luna lives with Draco Malfoy. ▫️ His room has changed because of Luna. ▫️ One of her belongings is beside his bed. ▫️ His door is never locked, and Luna walks in without hesitation.

From the outside…

that looks deeply intimate.

So Ginny says:

“This is strange.”

Her mind tries to classify what she’s seeing.

And the system returns an error.

But Luna isn’t playing the same game.

She doesn’t confirm anything.

She doesn’t deny anything.

She doesn’t explain.

Instead, she asks:

💬 “What if it is?”

It’s not really an answer.

It’s a refusal to accept the premise of the question.

Ginny asks:

“Tell me what this is.”

Luna quietly replies:

“Why does it have to be called anything?”

What Ginny really senses is distance.

Luna has changed.

She’s become more private.

She moves through life to a different rhythm now.

And… she no longer shares everything.

🌓 Chapter 29 — “Surprise”

Luna, who has always existed within herself, begins to exist within someone else.

Ginny represents normalcy. She grounds the story. She’s direct. Social. Comfortable with the physical world.

And standing beside her, it becomes obvious that Luna has quietly entered a different emotional landscape.

When Ginny notices the feathers and the chess piece in Draco’s room, her mind immediately fills in the blanks:

👉 a romance 👉 a keepsake 👉 something is definitely going on

She reads the scene through familiar social patterns.

That’s how most people would interpret it.

Luna… never does.

One of my favorite things about writing for AO3 has quietly become… CSS.

I’m ridiculously proud of how this little interactive element turned out.

It’s a magical contract, and when you hover over the paper, the eyes disappears.

I love when formatting becomes part of the storytelling instead of just decoration 🤍

In the morning, Luna adjusts the depth of their connection—

not for herself.

For Theo.

She doesn’t apologize. She doesn’t reveal even more of herself.

Instead, she offers him the safest version of who she is.

A story about a tree.

Gentleness.

Wonder.

Love without pain.

Theo laughs.

💬 “Lucky tree.”

But it isn’t really a joke.

It’s jealousy.

It’s tenderness.

It’s a confession disguised as humor.
