what about you is heroic?

nothing. i don't exactly have any knight in shinning armor characteristics.

what about you is social? what do you like about people?

nothing about me is social. i'm anti-social and all those times you've seen me around town or something, it was just an hallucination.

i'm pretty sure you could find all of this on the internet. it's that wonderful invention that people use pretty much every day. but i'll humor you because i'm a nice guy. camden jakob chevelle is the full name. happy?

do you have a nickname? what is it and where did you get it?

i don't know. cam, maybe. slugger is what my brother used to call me back in high school. but that nickname is retired and never to be used again.

do you wear jewelry?

a necklace, like most of my teammates. grace got it for me for my twentieth birthday. i don't take it off.

in your opinion, what is your best feature?

nothing. i'm not an attractive person and i'm secretly a hobo.

 what's your real birthday?

may 24th, 1988. do not send me any birthday cards. none. or i will call you all stalkers and there will be restraining orders.

where do you live?

again, there will be restraining orders if stalking becomes a regular thing. i live in westfield. i don't need to have some fancy house or all that bullshit. as long as i play my game, i'm perfectly happy living where i am, thank you very much.

what is your most prized mundane possession? why do you value it so much?

this little plastic ring, the kind you get out of those quarter machines. it was kind of a faux-engagement ring for grace, a joke really. but ah, yeah.

what one word best describes you?

damaged. or cursed, that would work too.

familial questions:

what was your family like?

well, considering some of them are still alive, i wouldn't really describe them in the past tense. i don't know, we were like a normal family. with money, i guess. you had the golden child and then you had the one who was in the shadows. and then there's the crazy parents. god, my family life was like a soap opera. 

what were your siblings names? what were they like?

dayton ... he was my brother and quite possibly the best person i knew.

when's the last time you you saw any member of your family? where are they now?

i think it was christmas. being around them is, it's kind of awkward to be honest. and they're here, on the island. living somewhere.

childhood questions:

what was your favorite toy?

matchbox cars. i used to carry around the firetruck like it was my lifeline. 

what was your favorite game?

monopoly. i was the king of it.

adolescent questions:

how old were you when you went on your first date?

ah, i think i was fourteen. the movies were involved, that i do remember.

what were you like in high school? what "clique" did you best fit in with?

i don't know, i was a bit of everything, i guess. i played sports, joined the clubs, had good grades, the works. as for what clique i fit with, i'd have to say jocks, mostly because sports were my main focus. and  i was kind of an asshole. that's still the stereotypical jock right?

what were your high school goals?

to graduate not a virgin, play as many sports as i could and i'm pretty sure college was in there somewhere. i think there was also something involving beer but i don't remember what it was.

what is your worst memory from adolescence?

the day my brother died. i was sixteen and he was on his way to one of my games; he was the only one that actually would. i'm pretty much the magnet for bad things happening to good people.

occupational questions:

do you have a job? what is it like? do you like it?

i'm a professional baseball player. awesome right? it can get pretty intense sometimes, all the training and stuff. ... i love it. baseball is all i have left really.

do you tend to save or spend your money? why?

well, if my living arrangements weren't already a giant clue to the answer to this question then i don't know what a better one would be. i tend to save it i guess. i mean, i still have the money from my trust fund that sits untouched in the bank. i don't need a lot of things.

likes & dislikes questions:

what bands do you like? do you even pay attention?

i go through phases when it comes to music. right now, i've got to say that gotye and the black keys have me pretty hooked. last week it was linkin park, so...

what's been your favorite movie of all time?

miracle. i'm not the biggest hockey fan but that movie just speaks to sports fans everywhere.

read any good books? what were they?

i just went through a kurt vonnegut phase so books like 'cat's cradle' and 'slaughter-house five' were some of the ones i read. they were pretty good, too.

what time of day is your favorite?

sunset. i just ... grace used to make us watch the sunsets whenever we could; it's the best way to think of her.

camden lalalalastname, twenty four-ish, a-listers.

camden has never really been all that lucky when it comes to life. he tends to make the wrong decisions over and over again, which only hurt the people he actually does care about. 

sports was supposed to be his saving grace but really, it's only been causing him more problems.

he got involved with some incredibly shady people before he moved to the professional level by throwing a few games and he promised himself that he'd never get involved with something like that again when he went pro.

unfortunately, the previously mentioned shady people didn't particularly like this idea and his refusal to cooperate, despite the threats.

so what do you do when you want to scare someone? you go after the people they care about most, which in this case was camden's girlfriend at the time. the police closed the case believing that it was a mugging gone wrong while his girlfriend managed to survive another three days in the hospital before succumbing to her wounds. 

that was three years ago and since then, camden has been a very driven and screwed up individual. he blames himself completely for what happened to her.

he threw himself into sports as an attempt to release some of his self-hatred and the guilt that continues to grow each year.

when he's around people though, he tries to act more social; smiling, laughing, attempting to tell funny jokes that just really aren't. unfortunately acting fake like that only makes his skin crawl and his guilt increase. which causes him to focus even more on sports. and yeah, it's a process. 

and that's all i've got for now along with my lovely list of possible faces which is going to take over the world i swear.

character ideas are happening in my head and they're demanding to be typed out. so yeah, character musing and ranting is happening right here.

but what if i make an athlete who before making it to the professional level threw a couple games for some extremely questionable people. like they were insanely shady and bossy. and probably short but we're gonna skip that part. anyway once he reached the professionals, he said that he wasn't going to it anymore. they were pissed because really they were making some pretty good money off of those bets and what not. but they're pissed and claiming that he wasn't being reasonable so they decide that they're gonna get even/scare him/get back/whatever. instead of going after him though, they go after his girlfriend at the time. the police call it a random mugging, despite the fact that she was pretty much beat to hell and back. she ends up dying three days later in the hospital, succumbing to her wounds. that was two years ago and since then, he's thrown himself into sports even though the rest of his life has pretty much fallen apart and he's pretty much stopped giving a damn　. and yeah that's all i've got right now so ignore this random character musing, 'kay?
