Well, from this point on it’s all hand sewing for me. There are a lot of little details to sew in in the next month or two.

Hey everyone, its been a while! A long while! Sorry, but I've been so busy with school and work that I've rarely had a chance to work on Isaac. Anyway, in the time that I've been away I finally got the first part of the sleeves done! I've still got a long way to go (and I'm still learning how to sew, honestly) but I hope to have it all finished by early June at the earliest.
Long story short, I had to replace the visor in the mask. The foam alone wasn’t going to hold the shape I needed it to. Thankfully, a friend recommended I use plexiglass; and after helping me cut it out I shaped it to what it needed to be and the mask is as you see it now! Its very sturdy, and will allow me to add the little mechanical details that the helmet demands. With some luck I’ll have the whole suit done by June or July in time for the fall conventions! Happy crafting, everyone!
I finished the details on the back of the helmet a while ago, so here it is for you guys! I’m really happy with how the detail is coming along. Unfortunately I won’t be able to attach the panels on top until what you see has already been painted-a job for the spring/summer.
Here’s a side view of the Dead Space Arctic Survival Suit helmet :P
The helmet is finally starting to look like a Dead Space helmet! :P The cuts in the lower half of the front of the mask are for breathing to help prevent the visor from fogging up. Hopefully it’ll work after I put the cloth covering over it.
Hey gang, it;s been a while! Over the past few days I've holed myself up in the craft room and have been busy getting this Isaac Helmet ready for the final steps. Here's the first of my progress pics from the past few days.
I added the first bit of detail to the Dead Space helmet. I can’t say I’ve ever cut out a single piece this big before, and it was certainly a challenge.
Here's the base of the Arctic Survival Suit helmet. Since it's made to be what the additional detail will be glued onto, there are a few spaces where the foam didn't connect smoothly. I'll have to fill in the spaces before I go any further.

And so my cosplay begins! With some luck this pile of fabric and foam will be turned into something to brave the elements and face the horrors of deep space.
Sometimes I’ll be in a store holding something at a weird angle or putting something that’s clear up to my face and I’ll look really stupid and the only explanation that I can give to the confused people around me is, “I’m making a space suit to wear, I’m fine.”
Hey gang, it’s been a while! I’ve been super busy over the last few weeks, but here’s something that happened during my time away. I finally got around to making a mannequin! Basically I took an old shirt and wrapped myself in duct tape while I was wearing it. After getting cut out of it I filled it with stuffing and it was finished :P
2 days has gotten the bustle frame built and start on the base layer of the skirt, these are the biggest patterns I’ve had to make
Optimus Prime is making an unexpected trip to Youmacon this year, and I couldn’t be more excited! The big guy’s starting to get worn out in some places, and I’ll have to replace those spots before the con at the end of the month. I hope that everyone out there gets their costumes done by Halloween weekend!
Here’s a development photo from my Mad Max build from a few months back. The barrels were made from PVC pipe and the stock was cut from wood. All of the other details were cut out of craft foam.
Happy Birthday to one of the best cartoon series around! :P Here’s to another 31 years of Transformers!
