Finally got some actual good needed work done on writing the comic.

Im using this comic world & story for an art class thing, and as part of that i needed to define a timeline for the events of the story so i can accurately draw snapshots from different points in the story with the right season and stuff.

I could have done this really simply, but i decided to do it the hard way because i know that the extra work will be helpful later (+ its fun). I wrote out a timeline with exact dates for events in the story, sometimes exact times. As part of this i needed to know how long travel would take, and for that i needed to know the scale of the map. And average speeds of boats.

I estimated the scale by using distances between real life cities that i thought should have comparable distances between the cities/kingdoms in Roljin, and then kinda guessed from there.

I found out that sailboats can go 6-8 knots on average so i used 7 knots which is about 8mph. The first trip the scouts take on their journey is about 300 miles(i think it was 293, but could be anything in the 290s), which is 1.5 days of nonstop travel. I decided they would stop everynight around 10pm and setup camp and sleep there, then depart again in the morning at 10am. That added 24 hours (2, 12 hour rests) to the original 36, making it in total 60hrs of travel, or about a 3 day trip

Preview and comic progress update!

I promise the comic is coming somewhat soon, i have been working on getting chapter 1 completed before beginning to post for over a year now. However i have changed my plan. I will be getting to the end of about the first quarter of the chapter and then beginning to post. Ill post pages weekly here and on comic fury. Ill work on continuing the chapter as i post the first bit, so i might feel a bit more pressure to work on it. For now though, i am exhausted with working on this comic and need to take a break to draw more things that ive not had the time to work on because of this. I know i have no audience yet but, if you do happen to see this thanks for the patience

But have the scouts! This is a little scene i had an idea for where theyre in the middle of traveling to teyun, its night time and theyre either enjoying their time or asleep

Ev is sailing and talking to Donna who is sitting up and sorting their things

The other two are asleep, julian hanging over the edge of the boat and Elliot on his back with his hands behind his head

I really enjoy scenes like this where the characters are just living life and get to interact with eachother without necessarily moving the plot

Oh! And the boat has a folding sail! For reasons you will see in the comic eventually but for now ill tell you the short, this is a sailing ship made for the ocean, but as Ev tried to use in a river there were opsticals they couldnt exactly get around [bridges] so they had to modify the boat in order to continue their journey (:
