"..i can't tell wether or not to laugh or try and help him." Hope holds in a chuckle, staring at the fallen plushie now seemingly laying motionless on the floor
Hope nods softly, leaning just slightly over to knock their shoulder against Simons, seemingly as a way to acknowledge his sentiment. they looked back down onto the console, smile widening when they saw the two set of coordinates reaching the same numbers.
They look up from the console, finally, nudging Simon with their shoulder and nodding towards the open window looking out in the the dark expansion of outer space.
-And slowly coming into view, was a large space station— wider than taller, but big enough to house hundreds of people.
as they got closer, the outer hull of the station seemed.. hand crafted. large spots of different metals covered the surface, and as they approached the landing bay, the three could hear a computer voice chirping from the console.
Hope nods, a bright and almost proud smile on their face as they glance over to Zee and Simon, a tilt to their head. they seem even more excited than Simon— sitting up in their chair, and tapping a few buttons and switches on their console, the ship jostling as it enters the loading bay.
They almost fall off their chair, but because they don't, they continue with the preparations of landing before jumping out of their chair and moving a switch to close the glass hull mirror, stopping their view of the outer space and the space station as its speed slows and attaches itself to the ground.
"come on! come on come ooonn—" Hope tugs at Simons chair, and then his sleeve almost like a toddler as they walk over to Zee and rattle their chair playfully, trying to get the both of them to stand and follow them out of the control room.
<( @convict-simon @zeefromthebloodsea new chain ! )>
Hope excitedly pulls both of them outside of the control room, through the main hallway, and into the loading bay where the bottom of the SM-13 was no longer visible, now a giant hole in the middle of the large room. a small ladder extends down, and from the hole, the trio could hear distant voices and other sounds.
"I wanna show you the living quarters— oh! and the garden!—"
Without a second thought, the teenager jumps down the entrance of the ship with little regards to the metal ladder that was provided. the drop down didn't seem far— Hopes footsteps were audible from a few feet away, as well as their impatient foot tapping on familiar metal ground, the smell of oil, iron, and rust suddenly surrounding them.
When Simon and Zee (safely) got out of the ship, they were met with the sight of a large room the size of an aircraft hangar— the entire walls being covered with metals, shelves, and even scaffolding as people— actual people— were seen running around, fixing, cleaning, carrying in new items.
<(hello my friends! i'm so sorry i haven't responded in a while, classes have been busy and so has work— but i'm very excited for these three to explore their new environment ^^)>
*simon hesitates before stepping out, but he doesnt want to lose track of hope, so he follows anyway. he looks around with wide eyes at all the things—and more importantly, the people. after being locked up by the COI, then being alone in the iron lung, so many people in one place was like a foreign concept to him; something he definitely had to readjust to.*
“theres a garden..?”
[its no worries!! i totally get it, work and school are rough on the mind and body, id rather you take care of yourself than worry about keeping up with us! ^^]
Zee follows along, holding onto simons arm and kept pace with hope. Looking around in suprise. Theyd never seen so many people..or things..or ..anything but blood. "...a garden?" Zee asked curious lookingbat them.
[Taking care of your self is very important!! Dont burn yourself out-- @scrapscout-hope^^]
Hope seemed much more lively and energetic than either Simon or Zee had seen them— practically bouncing in their footsteps with a wide grin that pulled on their faint scar, their freckles and bright icy eyes being highlighted under the tall fake lights. as they pulled the two others along, rambling about things they were excited to show the both of them, they had dropped their guard significantly and failed to notice a figure approaching the group as the teenager was walking backwards.
With a grunt, Hope and the new person collide— the light haired teenager almost falling, but managing to stay on their feet and turn around to apologize, tilting their head up to look at who they had nearly tripped over.
Almost immediately, Hope went pale. their body froze, and the excited flushness of their expression dropped just as quickly as it had appeared. one word slipped out from them, small enough to be a whisper or even a plea.
"..Lieutenant."
The "Lieutenant" in question was a tall, gruff looking man in uniform. a forever grimace on his expression, dark green eyes like the last leaves of a dying tree staring into Hopes icy blues. with a look of annoyance, and perhaps even disappointment, he narrowed his eyes at the teenager, briefly looking over to Simon and Zee to acknowledge their existence. he didn't speak, nor move, but from the look of his significantly bulkier uniform and Hopes reaction, this was clearly a man of importance.
And he had recognized Hope.
<(sorry for the long posts but uhh i like story telling so prepare to have fun :] )>
*simon had been following hope happily, thankful to see them much more lively than before. upon seeing the lieutenant, his gaze darkens, shoulders going stiff, protective of the kid. he knows better than to say something to him, so he just glares imstead*
Zee also went tense. Used to the danger of the blood sea, standing protectively near hope and simon. Ready to defend if need be but outwardly appearing threatening, a skill well honed in the place they came from.
"Lieutenant," Hope repeats, this time a little louder, but no less scared. they nearly shrunk under the soldiers gaze, moving their foot at a snails pace backwards towards Simon, though stopping once the Lieutenants glare tightens and his folded arms unhook, moving to hold the low part of his military vest.
There was a long silence before anyone spoke. the hangar suddenly quieted around them, like the world was shrinking until it was just the group of individuals frozen where they stood, unsure who would break the stilled movement.
"You came back." The lieutenant grunts, a low sound that sounds almost like a growl, though its hard to tell with his Russian accent. his eyes glance over Hopes expression, muscle memory to look for injuries on them. a twitch of his jaw showed his slight ease of tense muscles, but his eyes never softened. "Alive."
Suddenly, his eyes are away from Hope (who had inched their way towards Simon) and towards the ex-convict and shape shifting blood creature, a twitch of his slit eyebrow showing intrigue. "With company." he continues, scanning both Zee and Simon over with a careful eye, making them feel like they were baring their souls.
After what felt like forever, he finally looks away— to Hopes ship, and the SM-13 attached to it. a few dozen engineers and technicians were now surrounding it, washing the remaining blood off, curious of the welded together metal. slowly, he tilts his head, his gaze falling back to Hope.
*simon narrows his eyes, keeping his gaze on the other man, and resting a hand on hopes shoulder. something about the way he addresses them just.. pisses him off.*
Zees gaze remains even. Standing protectively near hope and simon. They dont like the vibes of this guy. But they dont voice that. They dont say anything. Just, watch. And read his intentions and aura as best as they can.
Hopes only anchor to the present time was the hand on their shoulder, and the ground under their feet. they didn't think to respond until their ears stopped ringing and they could properly hear and process his words, a slight wince escaping them when they realized the underlining meaning of his words.
"I can explain—" They started, one hand cautiously raising from their side, but got abruptly cut off when the soldier held up a gloved hand, quiet but full of command.
The lieutenant took one step forward. Hope took one step back.
Then, his eyes flickered to Simon and his hand on Hopes shoulder, and slowly eased his head back. his voice was smoother when he talked, like he knew something dangerous. "Explain what? how you disobeyed direct orders, stole a broken ship, and flew into space without even knowing how to pilot it?" a layer of venom was just barely hidden in his tone, restrained, but not for long. Hope was avoiding eye contact now, but that didn't stop the lieutenant from continuing. knowing, that they hadn't told any of their actions,
"Your job was to take broken metal, put it back together, and then box it to the proper sector. not to sneak out at midnight and steal an entire ship on a hunch." the Lieutenant didn't raise a finger, stood still where he stood, slightly angled to glare down disappointedly at the teenager in front of him. but Hope had wrapped their arms together, and stayed just as still, eyes locked onto the floor like it was the most interesting thing in the world.
Hope nods softly, leaning just slightly over to knock their shoulder against Simons, seemingly as a way to acknowledge his sentiment. they looked back down onto the console, smile widening when they saw the two set of coordinates reaching the same numbers.

How do you view zee?, and do you want a cookie? 🍪
"Zee's.. nice. i like their curiosity, and their shape shifting intrigues me too." They hum, fidgeting with their sleeve, tapping their foot on the ground briefly before continuing their walk, "i feel bad that they spent so long in the ocean. from what i over hear with Simon, its.. well i guess it wasn't the most peaceful place."
Gently, they place a box down— onto a shelf with lots of identical ones much like it, scrap metal and gears haphazardly stuffed inside. then, they turn to their desk, loop their mask over their head, and uncover a tool inside their workshop desk drawer. "i don't.. really eat sweets, but i appreciate it. probably eat it after i finish fixing this metal panel."
<(Sorry for the long absence my friends! classes has started up again and its been a busy journey, but a recent motivation has brought me back to hopefully tend to everything. expect story updates soon ^^)>

Zee held simons hand as they head over, careful of their claws. Keeping pace with simon as they head to the control room. "...i reeally probably should try shifting my form so i have legs soon.. it..might be easier.." they whisper as they approach. "I wonder where we're headed"
As the two stepped into the control room, they'd see Hope in the center pilot seat with two chairs to their left, seemingly pulled from storage. the kid seemed preoccupied with flicking controls and keeping the ship on course, but once they noticed Simon and Zee, they turned around with a bright smile on their face, and a fuzzy sweater in their lap.
"You certainly got here quick— Zee, i grabbed a sweater for you to wear if you want to." They offered the clothing to Zee, and then nodded to the seats next to them, turning in their chair and cracking their knuckles.
"We'll arrive in 10 minutes. so.. i guess we just sit here and wait."
"Ah, thank you!" They smiled bright. Retracting and relaxing spines even further to make sure they wouldnr mess it up. "Its very warm, i really appreciate it" they sit down. And reach for simon to sit with them. "...where are we going?" Zee asked curious.
"its a surprise." Hope hummed, leaning back in their chair and flicking a switch boredly, watching as the metal panel in front of the control panel slowly dip down. "you'll just have to decide for yourself, Si."
The dark panel revealed an expansion of inky darkness, a universe with dead stars and only their ghost light remaining. thanks to the ship moving at a slow speed, there'd be no danger in letting the center hull mirror be exposed, allowing for the three quiet friends to bask in the dark glow.
"..you'll like it there. 's peaceful." Hope spoke after a moment of quiet, reminiscing about growing up in their home, a soft smile on their face.
Zee snuggled into simon and kisses his cheek gently. Leaning againt his chest. "Is it big?" Zee asked. Wondering if they should spend the remaining half ish hour attempting to shapeshift to have legs for easier movement. Theyve never tried to change form to have legs before..and untill meeting hope and si..hadnt really seen what theyre supposed to look like... just skeltal remains or misshapen versions on the eel.
*simon flushes slightly, not used to having an audience. hes quickly gotten used to zees affection, but having someone standing there watching makes him a little nervous*
Hope instinctively wrinkled their nose, but didn't say anything and tilted their head away, suddenly interested in the flashing buttons and seemingly random switches on the control board. they looked over to the dual set of coordinates— just 10 minutes before they arrive, and they can feel the comfort of their personal bed again. god, they missed the thick woven blankets, hand knit and crafted just for the purpose of warmth.
"Zee, you might.. you might want to figure out human legs. for convenience sake." the kid hummed, still turned away from the two, and reaching to take their notebook that they had haphazardly thrown onto the console a few nights ago, snapping it closed. they were thankful neither Simon nor Zee seemed to notice it.
"Yeah.. thatd probably be best. I've never tried to change my tail to legs before." They stare down at their long tail, half curled around simon and spilling out to the floor below. Theyd ofncourse read through the anatomy book hope had given them.. so they had a decent idea of legs now. They adjust so their tail is mostly straight infront of them and it morphs into two tails... they tilt theirbhead and watched it morph again now anclear joint is visable and theyre much shorter. Looking closer to legs but still not ...right... they pause. "Do i need to look...more human too? Or..just have legs?" Zee asked.
"Human eyes would be preferable— we're going to a place with a lotta people, and i don't.. i don't know how they'll react to a walking fish creature." Hope tilted their head back to Zee, nodding at their legs, but then a slight frown formed on their face when they realized they probably also needed pants. "i'll uh.. i'll go get you some pants."
With that being said, the teenager shuffled out of their chair and turned tail towards the door, heading off to their storage room. Zee was a little bigger than them, so Hope thought it'd be best to bring a good amount of clothes, and have Zee choose what to wear out of the options.
*simon sits with zee while they wait for hopes return, absentmindedly twirling a piece of their hair between his fingers. he gives them a once-over, looking at their new legs*
at least you already look humanoid, itll probably make it easier to blend in
Zee hummed, relaxing into simons touch. "Probably" they blink a few times as their eyes look...not quite right. Theyre still glowing. But they look more human. They still have way to many teeth, sharper fangs retracted for ease of giving simon kisses and their skin an unnatural translucent pink/red. And their new legs covered in scales. They cuddle into simons chest.
Hope came back with a bundle of clothes in their arms, and walked towards Zee to catch their attention. they gestured to the clothes in their arms, a collection of differently sized and colored clothes that Zee could pick out of to form their desired outfit.
"Zee— i grabbed some clothes from storage and from my own small closet. hopefully you can uh.. find something comfortable." gently, they placed the pile onto an area of the control panel where little would be affected by the weight of clothes, and then glanced to their multi purpose gadget on their wrist— just 8 minutes till they arrive. Hope could feel a smile tug at their expression.
"Oh!, thank you very much" zee sorted theough the clothes. Picking out something loose. They can change shape... so really they could make anything fit. They arent used to clothing, ...since...they dont really need it when covered in scales and spines. They didnt want anything fhat felt constricting. "Ill go change" they said, once theyd picked something out.
*simon watches as zee walks out, then turns to hope, but before they can make eye contact with him, his eyes flick down to the floor. its a little awkward. to him, at least. he has quickly realized that he never told hope that him and zee started dating—even though the relationship is relatively new. he doesnt want to sit there and worry about it though, so he brushes it off and moves on*
so.. uhm.
*that is, until he finds himself unable to figure out what to say*
Hopes eyes linger on Zee as they walk off, hoping that they like their selection of clothes, before promptly walking to the captains seat and getting comfortable. they didn't seem to notice Simons nervousness until he spoke, causing them to tilt their head over to him. they sat with their knees against their chest on the seat, something they've found as a comfortable position.
They hummed as a prompt for him to continue, easing their head to rest on their arms. a slight frown appeared on their face only when they saw just how unusually nervous Simon seemed, and they picked up their head curiously.
i uh… i didnt really get the chance to tell you. about us..
i was going to, i just didnt expect them to be so forward so quickly. notthatitsabadthing- what i mean to say is… fuck, i dont even know. sorry, i think i mean. for.. leaving you in the dark
Noticing Simons bouncing leg, Hope shuffled in place to lower one of theirs, and gently knock it against his to offer some comfort. they clench their jaw to prevent the wrinkle forming on their nose, a small nod and a contemplative hum leaving them. they try to catch his eye, tilting their head just a little, but speaks up when they realize that he was outwardly avoiding it.
" 's alright. i've uhm.. i've been busy with my scrap work, not really hanging out with you both." Hope murmured, moving their head to face the dark inky space of the outside outer space. with a warmer tone, they continue, "i'm glad you and Zee are happy. theres.. theres not many people left to trust."
Hope got.. quieter at the end. almost talking from experience.
Zee didn't take too terribly long to change. Returning looking more human ish, and fully clothed. Still bundled in the offered sweater from earlier, they sat beside simon leaning on him. No longer were there any visable spikes or spines fo bewear of. Theyd noticed humans didnt have those. "Thank you hope, really" they smiled. "How much further out?" They asked.
"eight minutes, give or take. don't worry, you'll know it when you see it." Hope perked up when they saw Zee, their smile spreading just a little before they contained their reaction and shuffled their foot back onto the seat.
They were looking forward to arriving back home— a comfortable worn in bed, a space bigger than just shy of a normal earth house to reside in for a prolonged time period. their closet was much bigger in their usual bedroom, instead of the small incave drawer they had on the ship.
..Something in the back of Hopes subconscious panicked at the thought of returning home. of the consequences. but they were too distracted with the comforting presence of Zee and Simon to notice it.
Hope leaned their head onto their arms, hesitant to answer. when they did, it was while avoiding eye contact and staring into the outer space through the glass. contemplative, almost.
"3 weeks? its.. its hard to count days without a calendar.. i had to draw my own, actually.." they mumble, not exactly proud of being away, but seeing it as a.. necessary situation. they knew, in the back of their mind, they'd have to tell Zee and Simon why they left— especially after they got to the coordinates they were heading towards.
They had to stall, to drift the conversation. so they nodded at Zees comfortable clothing, noting one of their shirts. "you look comfortable. warm, too, since its probably cold in the ship for you."
"I am, and it..is. im used to living in a boiling sea.. i..get cold kinda easy. I really appreciate the sweater" zee smiled. They cuddled simon more for a moment. Savoring the additional warmth, then sits forward a bir tward hope. "Whats wrong?" They asked hope softly. "You dont have to answer, if you arent ready..but im worried about you, and ill litsen if you do want to talk" they assured.
( @convict-simon, tagging you so you know where the chain be^^)
Hope stiffens— just enough to feel their back seize, and their knuckles to appear visible when they hold onto their arms tighter. "nothings— i'm alright, Zee. just.. nervous to get back home after being alone away for so long." they respond almost immediately, just barely stumbling over their words, flailing a hand in the air to dismiss Zee's worry. an odd quirk of their smile reveals their deception, but they were quick to find something to stare at when they felt green eyes staring at them.
"Homesick, maybe. this ships very.. stuffy." the teenager huffed, moving their arms and picking at the edges of their leather gloves, careful to not break any of the threads. they don't know how to sew after all, and this was their last pair of gloves.
Zee knew they were lying. Thats clear in their tone. Theyre still worried. But womt press if hope isnt up for talking. "If you're sure. Im here if you want to talk, ill always litsen" they promised the kid gently. Their tone concerned for hope yet.. hopefully soothing.
Hope nodded, a hum leaving them (seems to be their favorite way of communicating) as they nod, and turn their head towards Zees with a smile. "thanks, Zee."
4 minutes.
4 minutes until they were home, until they could finally leave this ship that has lingering death every where they turn, a reminder of their mother.
4 minutes until they could finally relax. maybe even lean on Simon and Zee emotionally, and have people to call their family.
They hummed as a prompt for him to continue, easing their head to rest on their arms. a slight frown appeared on their face only when they saw just how unusually nervous Simon seemed, and they picked up their head curiously.
i uh… i didnt really get the chance to tell you. about us..

Zee held simons hand as they head over, careful of their claws. Keeping pace with simon as they head to the control room. "...i reeally probably should try shifting my form so i have legs soon.. it..might be easier.." they whisper as they approach. "I wonder where we're headed"
