After taking a look at the different videos provided in the resources section of the assignment, the video that I truly enjoyed watching the most was the video about how Lee "Scratch" Perry chooses to record reggae music. His simplistic but rather effective method of first laying down the rhythm track for the song before introducing any lead instruments and vocals was pretty eye opening in the sense of producing a great record. However, none of the steps done within the recording process could be successful without proper sound design. The video that provided further clarity on this matter was the video about different microphones that producers can use to make a recording. Not only did this video allow me to see what microphones work best for specific goals in mind, but also allowed me to see the importance of acoustics. Furthermore, to reflect on the song I made using soundtrap, I believe that I have successfully made what I had in mind for the assignment, regardless of it's quality. Although I did run into some timing issues, I managed to record midi drums, midi guitar, and an analog bass through the DAW decently well. The only aspect of the song that I didn't record myself was the hi hat loop for the rhythm section of the song. In order to fix the timing issues that I had come across while recording the tracks, I was lucky enough to have my professor help me with editing the midi tracks. The overall process of making this song was something I can build on for future productions as I attempt to make more music using Soundtrap or other DAWs, especially when it comes to recording analog equipment.
