And that he’ll be lathering up some shaving foam, and he’ll look in the mirror as he puts it on, and then he’ll pause as he sees his wrinkles in the mirror and stares at himself for a little while, ruminating over the fact that he’s almost 30 years old, he already looks over 50, and he’s still stuck in his father’s death grip with no hope of escape, and every new wrinkle that he finds, only serves as a reminder that he’s stuck here and he’s never going to be free,

and he has to somehow process and try to accept the very likely possibility that he’s simply going to live and die like this, because if he doesn’t accept it, then he’ll only drive himself further into insanity, and he still has a job to do,

so he’ll sigh and cast his eyes down at the sink while he shaves so he doesn’t have to look at his face for too long, or is that just me?

Decided to make an account solely for posting about my fandoms.

Anyways.. why does the sf fandom mischaracterize Travis so much??? They either see him as a twink that’s head over heels for Sal or as a heartless bully. (Most of the fandom leans more towards the twinky portrayal of Travis) Both are incorrect. He’s such a complex character it’s insane.

He has such strong internalized homophobia especially because he was raised in a house where he was taught his feelings are disgusting and that God would never love him because of them.

It wouldn’t take something as simple as Sal talking about it with Travis for him to suddenly accept himself. And honestly let’s be real, Salvis could only truly work one way- as a very long slow burn.

Travis won’t flip a switch and suddenly be accepting of himself over night, it would take a while. I can rarely ever find any good Salvis fics because of it, too. (If yk any actually good Salvis fics pls lmk I’m desperate)

Salvis is still my favorite ship, though. Anyway that’s the end of my rant lol.

I’ve had that kind of religious shame, though probably to a lesser degree considering Travis’ trauma is more extreme than mine. Even still, it took months for me to MENTALLY accept myself, and even then when I logically knew it was okay to be queer, I still had a physical disgust/fear response to my own sexuality, and that didn’t go away for YEARS.

And, not to mention the fact the he has other stuff going on too. Because, religious/cult trauma aside, he also has other trauma and active stressors/limitations that are going to make a relationship difficult to handle, regardless of if it’s gay or not.

It’s especially not going to be easy for him, and he has to want to try for himself too, not just for Sal. Religious trauma is indeed, actual, real trauma, that’s going to take a damn long time to heal, I really think people forget that it’s not called trauma for no reason.

I need more of Travis struggling to accept himself and Sal being his patient self with him 🙏

The fact that Kenneth’s date of birth is canonically unknown makes me think he probably doesn’t have any legal documentation like a birth certificate. And because he’s a Phelps, clearly an important family line in Nockfell and the cult, and the Nockfell police already cover shit up all the time, AND he probably already had his role as cult leader planned out for him by his own parents, he could probably very easily get away with having no documents.

That got me thinking… If HE has no documentation, it’s just as likely that NONE of the Phelpses have them. Travis’ Date of birth is probably known because he has himself and some peers who know his birthday.

And if that’s the case, imagine how hellish it would be for Travis to try doing literally anything outside of Nockfell if he had gotten out. He has like, NO proof of his own existence. Plus, I headcanon that even though Kenneth could technically use his power to get Travis a driver’s license or a job of his own, Travis probably isn’t even allowed to have either of those because Kenneth wants control. He’d probably get away with going to college though, with his father’s help.

So, he has no documentation, no money of his own, no car or license, no job, and no way to get either of those on his own without having to go through a big hassle of legal circles, and Nockfell’s police would probably catch him and drag him back before he can even get out of state, bro is entirely screwed sideways if he wants to get out.

This little theory of mine has deeply upset me.

I know the “haha Sal short Travis tall, Sal small shirt Travis big shirt” thing is pretty much just accepted as canon but HEAR ME OUT.

Travis is a string bean. A stickbug. Probably doesn’t weigh over 120 lbs even at his *nearly 6 foot height.

Sal is short but he’s also chunky, I compared their torso sizes and Sal could probably eat him.

So I propose: Travis is a dumb blond who assumes that being tall means being bigger, and he’s forced to borrow a sweater from Sal because his own shirt has blood stains in it. He expects it to be too small.
