Where do you feel the safest ?
Probably at the Scribe Headquarters? It’s safe and usually always full of people.
leaparrish:
[pm] I’ve lived here my whole life, and I do love history. It’d be cool to know so much about Ashkent. I know a decent amount, but mostly just what I’ve done for school reports. I like Ancient Histories and things like that for school.
Could I Mum wouldn’t I want to make sure you all aren’t going to scam AJ This is weird Also do you Do you have to be eighteen to make an appointment?
[pm] History is cool. All of the Scribes are hired for separate reasons, a lot of them already specialize in a specific field and are hired to bring that information and knowledge onto the team, so everyone you talk to is going to be better versed for a different topic. But we also like to take notes and write essays and compile that knowledge so that it’s available for others too.
Nope!
Were you thinking of setting an appointment? Because you still don’t even know what exactly we do.
leaparrish:
[pm] I’m Lea. It’s nice to meet you, too!
Do you get to help people with the history of the town? AJ wasn’t asking the other Scribe about history but He also doesn’t care about How do people get advice from you all? Do they just stop in, or is there some sort of online forum?
[pm] History of the town is a big thing for us actually. The Scribes have headquarters all over the world and we typically share a lot of our information, but each one also keeps their own files on the town itself. Ashkent Creek has a particularly hefty file.
They can stop in or make an appointment. Or a lot of scribes have started getting into social media, for better or worse, and they have reached out to those that needed anything.
leaparrish:
[pm] Not really, but they mentioned that they’d talked with someone who worked with you all. I just thought it could be cool to talk to one of you. I also don’t really know much about you all, but I do like history!
[pm] Well here I am! The name’s Molly, nice to meet you!
Yeah history is pretty cool. We do a lot of cool things here.
@leaparrish [pm] You guys are the historical society, right? [deleted: My friend] Someone I know mentioned you.
[pm] Yes! That’s us! Historical stuff and.... well stuff. Does this someone you know know much about the scribes?
Do you like the Scribes?
I enjoy working for them, yeah. There’s always knew stuff to learn and as boring as the job description may sound, it definitely keeps me busy.
addyhallewell:
It’s whatever, not like anyone who ever wrote about us actually knew what was going on at any given time.
It is very entertaining and fascinating but I’d wager you that it’s real and that demons do exist. Why don’t you believe in demonology?
It really is a great way to fluster people! You have the element of surprise and you can confuse everyone on both sides knowing things each side doesn’t know about the other. Keep people on their toes! Are friends important to you?
Right, of course. People on the internet bend the truth to make it sound more dramatic and entertaining.
I don’t not believe in demonology The opposite actually I find it fascinating I just find it hard to believe that anybody that actually studies it or... whatever people do with demonology; will be taken seriously.
Friends are very important to me. As well as making new friends. And I get flustered enough without a complicated and mixed vocabulary.
addyhallewell:
Addy. Adeline Hallewell. Good, try and keep it that way because this town’s newspaper Google has quite a lot to say about my family. Wish I could be a Molly Goldman.
You’re only proving my point! Nothing’s off the table for them! If you’re not a demon, then what are you, a demonologist?
See, again, use that to your advantage. Throw in hip new words then throw in words that old people understand from their days being hung up on thesauruses and dictionaries.
[user obviously immediately googles her name, because duh] Oh Oh no. I’m sorry
Well I’m sorry about that. I don’t know what they say because I totally didn’t just google your name but I’m sure it sucks
I’m a Scribe, thank you very much. I don’t think demonologists are real, but either way I do happen to find mythology and that stuff very interesting. But I’m not a demon.
Sounds like a great way to fluster people and make them not want to be my friends.
addyhallewell:
Oh dear, I could eat you right up, you’re so precious It’s a pleasure. Ever pop up in a Google or Bing search? X-Files appearance aside.
We’ll see. Isn’t that what all demons say?
No, no, don’t think about it like that. It’s not infuriating at all actually because it sounds like you’re exactly the right age to use that to your advantage.
I -um didn’t catch your name? No and no.
That is absolutely not what a demon would say. They would say... well they would say lots of other things other than what I said. I’m not possessed by a demon!
I’m not sure what about the words lit and woke could actually be advantageous to me. Or the fact that I actually said advantageous. Its like I’m going through a midlife crisis
addyhallewell:
Very helpful information to have, Ms/r…? What about inside? How’s the demon insurance holding up there inside your home? And do you live alone? Do you have any codependents? How close are you to your family, coworkers, friends?
Valid to have, of course. I must admit that I am worried for you too. Where do you draw the line in the Ironic Uses of Words category?
Miss. Molly Goldman! Nice to meet you!
There’s no demon insurance and also no demon. I barely spend anytime at my place anyways My place is completely demon free as is my body
I don’t even know anymore. Nothing is safe. I’m that infuriating mix of young enough to know what all these words mean but too old to be able to use them coolly.
addyhallewell:
I look like an angel, thank you very much. What about you, did no one approach you? Oh- Oh no. Could it be because you’re possessed by a demon and they picked up on it???
Twitter users say otherwise, just did a poll, and “youngsters” is also probably only becoming popular ironically.
Oh no. What if that is actually what is going on? That’s not- Wait that can’t happen. HA. I’m a scribe. I’d know if something like that was happening.
I can assure you that I am not possessed by a demon, that I know of. I have been staying indoors during the fog mostly. Because I’m way too clumsy and spatially unaware to be trusted outside without vision and alone.
Pretty sure that most of my vocabulary started out ironic also and then just slowly devolved from there. It’s how I ended up saying “lit” in normal sentences. It’s a concern.
Are people really this superstitious? How many people have come out of the woodworks just to push good luck charms onto everyone they encounter? It’s like a cockroach infestation. Actually… I take that back, it’s worse than that because I can’t get the hell out of dodge to avoid them because this fog is so ridiculously thick.
Or thicc, as the youth would say.
Why do people want you to buy good luck charms so badly? Do you have extraordinarily bad luck or just look like you do.
Also... I don’t think anybody actually says thicc.
Living right across from where I work has never been more convenient. And yet I still almost got hit by a car crossing the road today.
It’s fog, people, not the end of the world.
Yikes. That’s terrifying. Hopefully that person learned that they shouldn’t be driving when it is so foggy outside.
Do you work downtown? I haven’t been down there but I’ve noticed quite a few cars on the side of the road around the campus.
Probably going to have to sit the whole day today at the tattoo parlor, so if you’re in the area feel free to stop on by and distract me! No really please stop because there will be needles constantly stabbing into me and I might go crazy if someone doesn’t keep my attention elsewhere.
A tattoo?? That’s exciting!! I keep telling myself that I want one, but I would probably pass out. It hurts doesn’t it?
theforestwarden:
[pm] Ok. I mean I’m fine with them asking me like once I meet them you know. And like Im fine with people knowing im magical because well this is ashkent after all. I just like. The Leshy thing is what i’m worried about. Because. I’ve- well you know I don’t know any others and I’ve never met another and liek. well. Ok. Im rambling.
But thank you Molly truly. This means a lot.
[pm] I don’t blame you for being nervous or apprehensive. It can be scary. If you don’t want to me find one, just let me know.
But I do promise that I would never let anybody near you that I didn’t completely trust 100%. Besides, if I did I’m pretty sure your brother would kill me.
Anything for you.
theforestwarden:
[pm] Well that’s a relief.
Um well. I uh. I mean if its necessary I trust you to give out that information to liek the right people. But um I think it could be ok if like we just say I’m looking for someone who specializes in glamor magic. Like they don’t need to know Im a Leshy or anything. Right?
[pm] I can’t say specifically because I don’t do the magic, but a lot of times in spells it’s important to have all the information or it could mess it up? Maybe for Glamor magic it’s not as important. I won’t give away any information, but they might ask you.
Whoever it is and regardless of what they do I promise they will know that discretion is of the utmost importance.
theforestwarden:
[pm] You’re still my friend. I consider that a very big something you are doing for me. Because you really don’t have to especially after we
Well i guess there is that. Maybe my first task for this witch of yours will be teaching me how to magic my own hair rainbow :P
[pm] Just a favor. Friends do that.
That’d be something. I support whatever glamour choices you make.
Though, if I’m going to search for a witch I am going to have to disclose the information about you? I can do that beforehand or I can reference them to you and let you do that part. Up to you.
