Welcome!

I'm Scrib! I'm 23. I do 2D art, writing and worldbuilding. I am working on two original projects and several fanworks!

This is my everything blog. I post my art, writing, all my reblogs here, and put all my interests here. Those interests include: - Science-fiction, fantasy, and sometimes horror media. Primarily film & games - Flight Rising and/or other dragon media - writing and art development and chatter - Dinosaurs! Mostly PoT or other science-fiction-flavoured. I like accuracy but I'm not beholden to it <3 - mcyt, usually Hermits or Hermit-adjacent

I post about horror sometimes. This is several different types of horror media, often of varying forms and themes, most frequently artworks that may be unsettling. This will be under #horrorposting. As with artistic nudity, please block if you do not want to see it. I will not be partitioning types of horror out; all of them are under the same tag.

Fandom tags will be the franchise or IP name on its own, as will character names. I may sometimes miss these.

I post moths sometimes. These will be tagged under #moths

Original Works

I have two major original projects I am working on at current. Some posts will be about them or otherwise make me think of them.

#tsanthite: This project is high fantasy in a setting drawing from several time periods, predominantly 13th and 14th Century civilisations around the world. The worldbuilding is ongoing and extensive but the current novel only focuses on one part of it. The themes are of the nature of a magical soul, internal and external surveillance, reckoning with and untangling brainwashing, complex moral and social issues in the wake of violent revolution, a radioactive force of magic that is fundamentally incomprehensible, and deep sapphic love and passion in the face of insurmountable odds. Also, moths.

#needlewood: This project is a low fantasy thriller/horror cryptid novel set in modern day in a truly enormous national park. It features themes about environmental protection, an unkind apathetic wilderness, human nature in monstrosity and beauty, the isolation and joy of the trans experience, cryptids, and rabies.

The launch anniversary is in half a handful of weeks, which means it’s around about three years ago to the day that Carl was standing in the chilly scrub of the cosmodrome watching Dr Ryland Grace flail against a fate that Carl reckoned he probably didn’t deserve.

“You know who you are,” he’d said, “you’re gonna do great.”

Three years. Both nothing at all and a lifetime.

I'm just saying, if you're going to worldbuild magic being a "raw, primal force, akin to and interweaving with nature itself" you gotta explain to me why animals don't use it

I know the normal answer is "they just aren't smart enough for it" but idk I've seen enough media where a character uses a spell in a moment of brain-off panic ilI feel like animals could probably stumble into a spell or two like, accidentally

Also how funny would it be to see a completely normal regular bear cast magic missile outta nowhere

Also there is no way ravens wouldn't figure out spells, tbh

They're smart fuckin birds, I believe in them

Either through observing or just figuring shit out ravens could 100% learn how to cast spells I'm sure of it

Dogs can also cast Magic Missile but every time they do the projectile is shaped like a bone or a stick and they chase after it

Undergoing a bit of an Elder Scrolls renaissance atm..... here's a really old character of mine who's gone through a few iterations over the five years I've had her: Irilara, an Indoril councilor from the Second Era. Don't let her prim and proper stature fool you; she's a notorious and volatile reactionary. Her faith in the Tribunal is unquestionably devout, but her political loyalties appear divided…

got a giant and i mean GIANT fresh-squeezed strawberry lemonade at the farmer's market today. i'm talking like a full quart with a straw in it. very delicious. five dollars. nice. as i was leaving, laden with vegetables, a young man waved at me and asked where i had acquired my immense beverage. and after i pointed him toward the stall and informed him of the various prices and flavors, he looked toward the sky, basketball shorts flapping in the breeze, and bellowed to the heavens, "oh i am gonna SLUUUUUUUURP that." happy slurp that saturday everyone.
