also me: just thinking about how fiona since she was literally seven years old spent every night rocking back and forth whilst locked alone in that single miserable tower room on her "fancy" single one pillow bed wondering why she was cursed in the first place turning into a monster at every sunset all panicked and sobbing her heart out thinking her parents hate her and only locked her away because she's ugly now all cause of this horrible curse having everything taken away just to get locked up in this dragon guarded castle tower with only the bare essentials and her favourite stuffed toy for company til she was finally rescued at 30 years of age :( THIS WOMAN IS TRAMUATISED (even after her rescue when shrek said she sleeps by candle light cause everytime she shuts her eyes shes afraid she'll wake up back in the tower :()

Can we talk about fiona's relationship with her parents for a second?

She internalized the idea that she was longer no beautiful for her curse because of her parents,they locked her in a tower with a fire breathing dragon all alone which caused her to have zero human connections; and she had to get over that because harold did it "out of love" when in reality all that isolation messed her up. She barley even got to know her own mother and father,the moment she got their letter she was more than happy to see them despite the fact that they sent her away,she was so desperate to hold on to what she really wanted from them to the point that she tried her best to ignore her father's hatred towards ogres which included her as well

In conclusion,fiona's trauma deserved to be acknowledged more
