Penelope is over 1 year old now! I love her so much :)

I have discovered that spending less time on Tumblr is a great thing so I won't be posting very frequently from now on. When I was trying to break the habit of logging in every day, I found the loophole of being able to see some people's blogs without being logged in, so I have been quietly enjoying what your dogs have been up to. 😊

Ain't she cute? Penelope is doing great at 11 months and we can hardly tell that she's a teenager. We go for fun walks every day and have eased up on the fetch as she's getting very drive-y about it and we want to be careful for her joints. She is really good at being left home alone now!

She is still doing plenty of reactive barking. However it turns out the next door neighbour we were worried about is deaf and another nearby neighbour blasts obnoxious music all through the day so our occasionally startled puppy is not as much of a neighborhood nuisance as we were worried about. Still doing lots of DMT to work on it.

We do lots of real world training on our walks, teaching her not to rush other people/dogs/bicycles etc, but we've stagnated on other aspects of training. These next few months I'm hoping to get her started on some Tricks Titles and maybe some basic baby agility and CGC. With CGC I think her main problem will be that she just does not like being touched if she's in an unfamiliar environment so she would likely shy away from a pet in that part of the assessment. I'm not sure how to train this and I'm not even sure if it's fair to ask her to like pets when I don't mind that she doesn't!

At home, though, when she's feeling tired and dozy? She is the most cuddly little creature. She's been given human bed privileges and oh my gosh, she just loves cozying up to us. I've been taking advantage of this and doing a bit of grooming when she's relaxed. Previously she required copious bribes to allow us to brush her but we're moving away from that. I swear she's got tickly hind feet. She twitches every time I snip the fur around her paw pads but doesn't pull away until it's been a few minutes. Slow and steady.

I'm going to delete this app off my phone so with any luck you might not hear from me for a while! I am just wasting too much time here. But I have really enjoyed dogblr :)

Visiting relatives and she absolutely LOVES their backyard. Loves barking at the greyhounds next door too.

Penelope is 19.5kg at 10 months. She is teeny. The vet said she is amazing on examination tho :)

The cute trot over for well-deserved treats when she's decided she's going to be good and not chase the chickens vs the shifty side eye when she KNOWS I can see her and would treat her for ignoring them but she's going to chase the chickens anyway. U know what I mean?

I returned from a long trip recently and we did take a self-indulgent "puppy greets owner coming home" video... Deciding whether to post it or not

Penelope doesn't really like to eat apple but she loooooves mouthing it, tossing it around, playing with it. FINALLY finally we have found a long lasting food that she can entertain herself with. She chomps through "long lasting" chews in minutes.
