A Serious Question
Has anyone seen/heard any advertising/marketing industry response work around the Charleston Massacre? I know most of us are patting ourselves on the back at Cannes right now...any mention of it there??
Clementina de Jesus was one of Brazil’s most revered singing stars. She was born on February 7, 1901 in Valença, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and as a teen, she paraded with the Portela Samba School and the Mangueira Samba School, as well. She married in 1940 and worked as a maid over the next two decades. In 1963, she was discovered by composer Hermínio Bello de Carvalho and at the age of 63, Clementina de Jesus began her professional career. According to the Tumblr user who suggested we share a post on this legend, Ms. de Jesus was the granddaughter of a slave, and as a result “was considered the missing link between the current black culture and the culture of the slaves”.
In the video above, Clementina de Jesus is performing “Yaô”, a song composed by Pixinguinha and Gastão de Viana in 1922.
Ok. These are #Keto Choco Chip Cookies and they are good, full of pure fat and devoid of sugar and severely low in carbs. Have Fun!! Preheat your (gas) oven to 350 degrees. 1 tablespoon coco oil (melted) 1/2 cup butter (melted) 4 tablespoons cream cheese 3/4 of coco flour 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 6 eggs 1/4 cup truvia baking blend 1 tablespoon sea salt 3/4 cup of 60% cacao semi-sweet chocolate chips First mix the beat the coconut oil and butter with the cream cheese. Add all of the coconut flour and then add your eggs and chocolate chips in slowly. Eventually mix in your vanilla. While the Truvia stevia blend and salt is to my taste, add in at the end and do so to your own preference. Grease a baking sheet and then take big spoonfuls and dollop/spread on the sheet. They don't spread that much so do so true to the size you want. Bake that shit. It's gonna smell good. Do so until the edges are well browned. Enjoy!!
Because she’s the cutest
Joy!
Gary Simmons (American, born 1954), Black Chalkboard (Four Mouths), from the series Erasure, 1993, chalk and fixative on Masonite, Museum Purchase: Robert Hale Ellis Jr. Fund for the Blanche Eloise Day Ellis and Robert Hale Ellis Memorial Collection, © 1993 Gary Simmons, Courtesy of Metro Pictures, 93.6
This work is not currently on view.
"Developed while working in an abandoned school building with an abundance of blackboards, Simmons’s signature "erasure drawings" employ a process of smudging chalk marks executed on slate covered paper as if to eradicate the image and start again. The results are vaporous traces of lines, not eliminated, but transformed by the artist’s hand…The hybridization of cultural signs is the source of the strength of Simmons’s recent artistic vision, made literal through his process of blurring and the fundamental instability of his medium." - Brooklyn Rail
