The package was left outside Mercy’s window, wrapped in thick leather, paper flower tucked between the folds. The jacket contained was cut for the pirate’s wider build, studded and detailed with dark metals.

The return package - containing a set of custom-made throwing knives with fitted leg sheath and a pair of silver hair chopsticks honed to disturbingly sharp points - was left a few hours later, tucked into one of the difficult-to-find hidey-holes in the rafters of the new house that Mercy knew Mae favored instead of just getting a damned room of her own. It wasn’t easy for the burly half-roegadyn to get up there, nowhere near as easy as it was for the lithe little rooftop-running miqo’te anyway, but she managed. She always did.

A note was, of course, left atop the box.

Trouble,

Best damn gift anyone’s ever given me. I’m wearing it right now. If you aren’t too far, try actually stopping in and seeing me later. I’ll be around for a few days, plenty of time to break some furniture that don’t belong to us and cause a few noise complaints.

After that, well, hopefully these’ll help keep you alive until the next time we meet.

She just couldn’t sleep. For bells Hoshi had laid there, restless, body wanting its sleep but mind not willing to cooperate and fade into subconsciousness. Eventually, the covers from the bed she’d taken up under Crescent’s roof were thrown aside and the raen pushed herself to her feet in a huff. She had to get up and do something. Maybe a nice bath, or a shower would do her good, she thought.

The girl stumbled sleepily through the halls of Crescent with a change of clothes tucked in her arm, her feet carrying her off towards the bath house of the company. Not expecting anyone else to be inside, she padded a little further into the room, only to pause as she heard singing. Not judging on the quality–and perhaps even smiling a bit if it was actually somewhat decent, she began pulling her clothes from her body, only to move towards the showers she thought were for public use–only to pause as she noticed the naked form of the roegadyn she’d met not long ago: Mercy.

For a while, Hoshi was unable to do anything but stare at the other woman as a bright flush filled her cheeks, eyes doomed for the moment to just wander the cut figure showering before her. Eventually, when her brain caught up and told her she needed to stop with all that staring, she opened her mouth to speak once, only to release nothing but a squeak. Then, she swallowed hard, and tried again. “Ah… I-I’m… G-Gomenas-sai, Mercy-san… Y-yurushite kudasai…”
