Cruella can't help a small laugh as she steps into the room, taking a seat on the four poster bed. Yes, it's still the same bed even. There were too many other rooms she'd been interested in redoing when she'd inherited the house.

"Oh somewhat. My closest friend and I spent quite a bit of our time here. Sketching, reading magazines we weren't supposed to, reenacting scenes from the films we'd sneak into on the way home from school." She looks around the room, any happiness suddenly disappearing from her face for a moment.

"Anyways, we both went to finishing school out in the country when we were fourteen, so after that I only used this room when I had chances to come home," Cruella explained. "I suppose you could use it for something if you wanted to."

𓍯 ִֶָ oh  ..  hearing ella laugh was  …  very unusual.  the typical nervousness she usually felt around her dwindling,   heart calming as she gives in to the sense of comfort it brought her.   “what kind of magazines weren’t you supposed to read   ?”   that part stuck out to her considering there were many things ariel wasn’t supposed to do,  too.   

noting the faded smile,   she desperately holds onto that brief glimmer of comfort and nods,  looking around some more.   “could i,  really  ?  it’s bigger than my room  …  can i move to this one instead  ?”   she wondered if that’s too strong of a request,  if ella would yell and say no or actually let her   …  there’s a sense of curiosity in trying to understand her mother’s childhood.   maybe  ..  staying here would help her.

𓍯 ִֶָ “ohhhh,  that’s because humans have never seeeeeen a mermaid’s tail up close   !!!   i never let ‘em see it,  only eric was allowed to one point.   and well,  everyone who was at his and ursula’s fake weddin’.”  a memory from long,  long ago.  even longer it feels in this moment.  now she feels like she’s in a dream with a pure hearted human by her side.

ariel admires her eyes a moment longer,  the emerald reflected by the light that shone upon them.  “they’re so pretty…”   her voice trails off,  resting her cheek on her own forearm as she keeps her gaze up on esmeralda.

but suddenly brows lift in girlish elation,  the compliment making her twirl a finger around a lock of hair.  “d’ya think so  ??  i’ve been told my hair is like fire   …  do you wanna touch it  ?  it won’t burn you.   mermaids’ hair is the softest and silkiest in the whole galaxy.”

SOPPING WET SCENARIOS

Damn it--

Leave it to his luck to be caught in a storm. Inuyasha had moderate experience in sailing a small boat by himself. He'd yet to catch whiff of another opening in time, at the present, he was stuck here. The least he could try to do, was find Japan in this time period. It was like finding an acorn in a hundred stacks of autumn leaves, he was aware, but he wasn't going into any form of civilization.

If he wasn't welcome in his native country, there was no way in hell he'd be welcome in a country. He still could smell only humans around here, outside of the predictability of animals.

Paddling wasn't worth the effort across such raging waves. Something about resistance, he couldn't remember. It wasn't like Inuyasha had anyone to teach him these things, it had all been learned through careful (albeit reckless) experience. Rather, his effort was spent on pulling the sail. In his lack of experience, he was unaware that you weren't supposed to raise a sail higher.

His thought process, was to catch more wind, to move even faster and out of the storm.

The actual result was far worse.

Seawater flooded his nose, and mouth. The boat had capsized.

It didn't matter how far out he'd managed to reach, which he was certain he'd made a fair distance. There was nothing to grab onto, nothing he could use as a means to propel his legs off of. Yōkai bones were more dense than human bones by nature, ruining any natural buoyancy he may have had.

All that was left was a helpless man crawling at nothing. Nothing but an endless expanse of nothingness.

Suffocating nothingness.

--Shit!! What the fuck do I do now?!

A heart pounding against his ribs. Cheeks that had taken on a tinge of blue, growing deeper by the second. Thrashing that was doing more harm than good.

Such a painful, humiliating death...

...Would be appropriate for a hanyō, wouldn't it?

𓍯 ִֶָ flipping her fins,   she hugs her sisters and father,   another successful visit to atlantica coming to an end.   she always makes sure to bring them things from the land;   whether it’s a small portrait painted of her  (  brought in glass so it wouldn’t be ruined  ),   dresses and accessories or  —   like this time  —  a kaleidoscope for them to admire.   at least her sisters seem to enjoy her gifts,   while her father just seemed glad to see her well and happy.  

but as usual,   he began with conversations of her return,  coupled with those of introducing her to mermen,  and ariel knows that’s her cue to go back home.  

with a wave,  she begins her journey back.  it’s not long as mermaids swim faster than any sea creature,   but ariel enjoys the adventure so she takes her time.   meets a few old friends along the way,   sometimes notes spot and stops to give him a hug  !  

this time,  however,  the friend she sees underwater isn’t from the sea.  it’s so surprising she thinks she’s hallucinating when she notices inuyasha  ..  drowning   !   

quickly she rushes toward him,   wrapping an arm around his torso to bring him back up to the surface.   “wha  —  what were you doing in the sea  ?!”   making sure she’s still holding onto him,   her brows furrow in concern and confusion,   carrying him toward the shore. “inuyasha,  are you alright  ??”   his heart is still beating so that’s good,  she thinks as she stares down at him once they reached the sand.

Such  the  imagination  she  had,  thinking  that  the  magic  of  Triton  was  completly  different  like  the  magic  of  a  magician  instead  of  a  mermaid.

dramatic look around,  making sure nobody hears them;   mermaid stitched with a display of secrets.   “it can ease a human’s pain.  don’t tell anyone,  though.”   lowered cadence,   finger to her own lip;   smile wide and vibrant red.  though this bibidi —  expression found her amused  !  and thus always are the fairytales in humans’ storybooks,   differing from reality though she’s wonderstruck each time she learned one.   like those of mermaids in different cultures,  quite shocking to ariel.  “all i need to do is sing. do you like singing, alice ?”

there was only enough coffee to brew for one as he loads his mug to the brim. the bitter aroma jerked his nervous system awake. and after the show she’d put on last night - he could use the energy. even her as sapphire eyes observe ariel from a distance, in the universal dressing room. he isn’t dressed for the morning either, but had delegated the morning crew to take the animals out for their baths. loid smooths down ruffled bangs as his fingers catch between knots. he’ll go wake her. role call was coming up.

sauntering past the curtain to the common room, he slugs down a mouthful before appearing behind her back. he wraps an arm around her, with his own coffee wafting beneath her nostrils. he gently sways his cup back and forth. a proven tactic to resuscitate even the hardest of sleepers. ❛rough night?❜ the question is all knowing but warm.

𓍯 ִֶָ a dream.   she recalls something wet,  glowing,  fantastic.  one,  two and three in, each catching her breath in her throat and bringing her to a state of ecstasy she couldn’t quite put into words.  it was hazy now,  bubbled into reality but ariel can’t quite tell where the dream started.  she vaguely recalls @spydcddy and the sound of his boots somewhere in it but not his eyes or countenance in particular  …  just a presence.  it wasn’t her first time having a dream like that but it still left her flustered.  in the morning she’d awoken all messy and undone and mildly satisfied and  ..   gasp,  feeling an arm slip around her as her eyes shot open from her thoughts  (  and near falling back asleep as she was getting ready  ),  noting the coffee so close to her.  she recognized the voice right away,  glancing back with the sudden increased beat of her heart.  “oh ..  yeah.  i had a —“  funny dream,  but not one she’s willing to share.  “i didn’t sleep so well.  how about you  ?”

𓍯 ִֶָ “i can’t ..”   paused.  about to tell him she can’t die but keeps that flippant remark to herself this time given how serious he looks.  “mhm alright.  then you should come with me next time and tell me where is safe to walk alone.”   it does sound darker compared to sardinia but ariel has met her fair share of wicked humans there too.  without any notes to her curtsy,  ariel sits back down,  brow cocking at the latter remark.   “jasmine is alive and well,  too.  you underestimate us,  jafar.”
