THROUGH IT ALL

Sean Cady

At 7 when I started school

I don't know why I just thought you were cool

Better than all the others

You out did them and left them under

I didn't know it then or understand

You could feel it in your hands

But at the end of the day

You never let it get in the way

You never made a scene

Especially in front of me

But you had a rough time

With everything inside

But through it all

You're always there when I fall

You stick around

When no one else can be found

You make it seem easy

Even in your darkest days

But even when it's done

You are the only one

I can call

Through it all

I'm 13 now and things got rough

But you said enough's enough

Finding castles where we are

Driving around in the car

The people I know just don't understand

Why you're here holding my hand

They think they know everything

Yea, they dont know everything

But with days in doctors rooms

With nights finding things to do

You're still the one that I turn to

What would I do without you

Even through it all

You're always there when I fall

You stick around

When no one else can be found

You make it seem easy

Even in your darkest days

But even when it's done

You are the only one

I can call

Through it all

I'm 19 and I am so scared

It feels off with you not there

Holding my pillow oh so tight

Shadows that make me scream and cry

Making the same stupid mistakes

Not knowing how much it would take

To make it on my own

Out here all alone

You're always one call away

No matter the mistakes I make

It's good to know you're there

It's good to know you care

That through it all

You're always there when I fall

You stick around

When no one else can be found

You make it seem easy

Even in your darkest days

But even when it's done

You are the only one

I can call

Through it all

I've been 30 for a couple of days

I am lying here racking my brain

Thinking about how you did it all

Even though you were just about to fall

You never faltered

You never faded

We never talk much now

But I still wish you were around

Even just for a second

One that never ends

Through it all

You're always there when I fall

You make it seem easy

TO THE BOY WHO LOST EVERYTHING

Sean Cady

To the boy who lost everything

Even his will to sing

Please don't silence your voice

Please make your joyful noise

Don't hide yourself away

Don't turn from better days

Just because you fell so far

Picking up the pieces of your broken heart

It may not be clear

What you have near

But give it time

And you will find

You have more around you

That you feel you deserve to

To the boy who lost everything

Who felt life's sting

Yes, I know it's unfair

And you'll not want to care

You may feel lost

At what you cost

The lives of those around you

Because you didn't do

Everything you could

But go back in time you would

To right what you wronged

For the life you never longed

But you'd make it right

And put up a fight

But you're where you need to be

And that is all you need

To the boy who lost everything

Who didn't really lose everything

I know it may feel that way

But know at the end of the day

When you look around

And you hear the sound

Of voices that love you

People who care about you

Always remember what you lost

And at what cost

But look ahead and build a life

And know that it will take some time

And remember it will be okay in the end

And if it's not okay, it's not the end

I know things aren't that great

I know you're living in a world of hate

They force you to befriend the floor

They cut you and cut you to the core

They break your light

They contain your fight

They crush you

They brush you

Away like you're dirt

But when you feel all this hurt

Remember one thing

I hope my words can bring

A feeling of safety

A feeling of bravery

Like you are someone

I hope you feel like you are loved

You may not feel like you're at home

You may feel you have no where to go

Like no one will ever listen

They make you feel like you are less than

The lowest thing on the food chain

The worst thing you can ever name

They break you

They shake you

They leave you out in the cold

A feeling that never gets old

But let my words hold you

When they let go of you

Let me be your safe place

a friendly place

Let me be someone

Let me make you feel like you are loved

Don't let them get you down

Don't let them make you frown

You're stronger than them

They made you like this

Let your muscles flex

Let your emotions express

Let them cower

When you show your true power

They may try to contain you

Don't let them parade you

Like some kind of prize

They tried to paralyze

With me behind you

Let them find you

And so that you are someone

By remembering one thing

That you are loved

Even if just by me
