This is my drawing of fellow caricaturist, and #caricatureBBQ friend, Kathy (@carikature_de_kathy), originally for the ISCA Members FB Contest, but I blew the deadline for that 3 deadlines ago! 🤡 so I never entered it. ☹️ . I've been pretty busy, and would work on this in fits and starts over the past few weeks. And I wanted to record #WIP, but I did most of the drawing in #tayasuisketches, which (I'm sorry to say), has the flakiest video capture, and would throw out the recording if there was the slightest error. . . . All color work was done in Tayasui Sketch Pro, with initial sketches done in @procreate and imported into a layer. This post includes the drawing in various stages and two #time-lapse videos of the the work in progress, captured using my iPad's screen-recording feature, and "edited" using a great iOS app called "Slow Fast". I also threw in a version with some animation effects overlaid, using the #motionleap iOS app. . . . My take on Dennis C. Reid II (@dreid80), for the #iscamembersfbcontest. . . . This one was all done in #tayasuisketches, I thought I had more time to, so I really fleshed out the under-drawing quite a lot. And then in the last hours before submitting it, I quickly laid down some colors. . . . I actually really liked NOT having all the time in the world to finish this, forced me to make color-choices on instinct rather than thought. Still having a great time with Sketch’s great pastel textures and color choices, also tried using a non-conducting DIY glove to avoid “smudges” from the side of my hand, but I actually miss some of those random happy accidents too. . . . My take on Lucy Fur Buckelew-Barrett, beloved cat of fellow artists, Bex Buckelew (@cosmic_thing52 and Bil Barrett (both of @grinnbarrett13) - the latest model for the #iscamembersfbcontest. The series contains the #wip #timelapse video of the final piece, and the last shot was my first pass from a different reference (#grumpycat!) . . My drawing of fellow artist, Jeff Palmberg who hails from #Seattle #GoSeaHawks! for the ISCA Members FB Contest Page . . . The final piece was done in #tayasuisketches, i struggled with getting something I liked in #procreate, so I exported and drew over my drawing with Tayasui Sketch’s excellent selection of natural media “brushes”. Not really sure what it is about Tayasui Sketch, but it just encourages broad, bold strokes for me. I think the fact that it is a little unwieldy forces me to make better decisions in the process. Everything following the final piece were done in Procreate (which is great for experimenting with shapes for me) . . .
